Is it physically possible to loose a stone in 30 days?

Or near a stone?

I'm about a size 12/14 and probably carrying an extra stone than what I consider myself comfortable with. I'm late 20s and have a big event coming up and would like to feel my best and hopefully kickstart my fitness and wellbeing back to what it used to be pre DCs as its been years and I feel stuck in a rut and hate looking in the mirror. I don't see the person I feel I am/can be.

I'm physically healthy and able to exercise /walk and so on. I'd like to tone up my arms and thighs and loose the extra fat that's around my sides and belly.

At the moment I do a dance exercise class once a week for an hour but not much apart from that, I could potentially carve out an evening or two a week to do more. (Also could do something at home when DC is napping?). But not sure what's effective.

Has anyone achieved this? Anyone has any tips on what the best exercise or method is?
I'm considering a calorie controlled diet.

AIBU and completely unrealistic?

Yes it is. I’m a one2one Cambridge consultant. I lost 3.5 stone after my daughter. I lost a stone a month. And please don’t say it’s unhealthy because it’s not and now hospitals, doctors are recommending this plan to their patients that need to lose weight for what every reason. We eat far to much as it is. just because we are used to consuming so much food doesn’t mean you right or natural.

There is an awful lot of out of date advice re weight loss on this thread. I would really advise you to get hold of a Micheal Moseley’s fast 800 and read the rationale / science / research behind his approach. It has totally changed my view (and thousands is others) on weight loss. It is not a fad and not short term-ist. It is healthy and achievable and sustainable, but it’s not just about cutting the calories and must be read to be understood.

I’d also recommend reading The Obesity Code by Jason Fung. It’s not just for the obese, but it goes into a lot of the science behind why we get fat and what we can do about it. Lots of info about balancing insulin by fasting for a longer portion of the day than eating. Makes a lot of sense.

I'm in a similar position right now, I'm size 10/12 and mid 20s, trying to lose 22lbs (1.5st) by the 1st of September. I'm going with the calorie controlled method and upping my exercise.

I regularly see weight losses of a stone or more in a month at my Slimming World group.

I lost that in a week once - was very sick and couldn’t keep anything down at all. Couldn’t walk by the end of the week.

Yes. I started the couch to 5k programme, cut out all bad snacks and ate healthily and lost 1.5st in 3 weeks. I didn't do any fad diets, just moved more and ate less.

And I'm 5"7 and a size 12 (nearly a 10 now) so you can lose it at any weight.

Good luck!

Hello, it completely depends. There is too many factors that can contribute. But you can defo lose a good chunk. Low carbs is always a pretty good way to loose it. However you have to stick to whatever you do. And be able to stay that way forever. Different diets will suit different people. One size does not fit all. It has to be something that you can realistically stick to once you've lost your weight. Otherwise it will just all pile back on. Hiit is very effective to loose weight. Killian Michaels is the best. I have lost 4/5 stone after each baby and am now addicted to working out and weightlifting and it all started with her workouts!!!! And as always drink loads and loads of water. Then drink some more!!!! Good luck.xxx

Hi, in the past if I've needed to loose weight quickly I've followed the scarsdale diet, it's a quick fix not a lifestyle change and I usually put it all back on afterwards but it works, you follow it for just 2 weeks and every time I've lost 7lbs each week.

For a much more balanced, slower weight loss, lifestyle change type diet, my fitbit is my best friend. I type in what ive eaten, set it to make me lose 2lbs per week and the weight drops off. I'm currently doing this now and lost in wk 1: 6lbs, week 2: 4lbs, week 3: 2lbs, week 4: 2lbs. That's a stone in 4 weeks but I know it'll stay off. I've eaten cake, sweets, chocolate, crisps and even a fillet o fish in this time but if you log it all and follow what it says in terms of amount of steps it recommends you'll lose it. Good luck x
