Is it physically possible to loose a stone in 30 days?

Or near a stone?

I'm about a size 12/14 and probably carrying an extra stone than what I consider myself comfortable with. I'm late 20s and have a big event coming up and would like to feel my best and hopefully kickstart my fitness and wellbeing back to what it used to be pre DCs as its been years and I feel stuck in a rut and hate looking in the mirror. I don't see the person I feel I am/can be.

I'm physically healthy and able to exercise /walk and so on. I'd like to tone up my arms and thighs and loose the extra fat that's around my sides and belly.

At the moment I do a dance exercise class once a week for an hour but not much apart from that, I could potentially carve out an evening or two a week to do more. (Also could do something at home when DC is napping?). But not sure what's effective.

Has anyone achieved this? Anyone has any tips on what the best exercise or method is?
I'm considering a calorie controlled diet.

AIBU and completely unrealistic?

Cup-a-soups such as chicken noodle soup are great snacks too. Say you're hungry at 12, but lunch isn't until 1pm, have a cup a soup at 12, then your planned lunch at 1pm.

Also learn to identify when the difference between hunger and thirst. Sounds like a simple one, but sometimes all you need is a glass of water when you think you're hungry.

It is possible on a low carb/low sugar diet. Sign up to Dropit 21. Find it on facebook. This is a 3 week program.

If you are serious about doing this you need to sign up to something, pay for it and commit to doing it.

TatianaLarina · 30/07/2019 11:42

I’d aim to do an hour’s exercise every day. What form doesn’t matter that much. High intensity exercise is more efficient at burning off fat. But I’ve lost weight just doing an hour’s walk every day.

!!!!

Not very subtle plugging...

HelpIcantfindaname · 30/07/2019 11:49

Try Fast800. I lidt a stone in a week on that but I had a LOT more to lose than you. If Fast800 is too much the 5:2 is also good.

fee1234 · 30/07/2019 11:53

I lost over a stone in two weeks last year. Caught cryptosporidium in Vietnam - the parasite diet! 😂

Maybe2020 · 30/07/2019 11:53

Following as same the op size wise and would love to drop a stone in a month as have a holiday coming up 😬

needsome · 30/07/2019 12:04

To PP.
No I do not have a tendency to be quite extreme in things.

I'm 5'5" and I am fully aware I'm hardly huge I'm not comfortable or happy with my current weight and the way I look. My stomach is very flabby and tends to spills over the top of my jeans if I'm not wearing high waisted ones which quite frankly doesn't make me feel great and I want to do something about it.

I did manage to stick to a bit of a routine a few months ago and was feeling so much better for it but then a bout of really bad illness made me stop and never go back to it. I find if I start up with something properly and get results it motivates me to stick to it.

I'd love to be a size 8-10 which is what I was before DCs but I know that I would be perfectly happy being a 10-12 with a strong, solid, healthy body.

Realistically losing weight, staying trim is a long term commitment.

If you’re not happy you need to change your MO permanently. Factor in more exercise, if you get ill then pick it up again afterwards etc.

It should be a commitment to health rather than thin-ness.

QuimReaper · 30/07/2019 12:21

OP don't feel you have to defend your desire to lose weight. It's perfectly normal and acceptable to just want to lose a bit to feel better. I've found Mumsnet is an amazing resource for weight loss advice etc., and I honestly do credit these boards as a huge help in my getting my own weight under control, but there can be a bit of a culture of schoolma'amery about weight, and a strange attitude that there's no clear blue water between obesity and anorexia. Mostly I'd just ignore it, but (just in case it helps you) I've adopted a policy of not disclosing my actual weight or size on weight threads, focusing instead on "I'd like to lose 5lbs" etc., to avoid the kind of scrutiny you've seen here.

Winebottle · 30/07/2019 12:36

I ate

SandyY2K · 30/07/2019 12:39

Yes it is. I've done it before by following a detox diet for 2 weeks.

Belenus · 30/07/2019 12:40

I managed to lose a stone in a fortnight by being depressed and hardly eating anything. I don't recommend it. I wouldn't worry too much about this one big event OP. Go for long term, sustainable changes. It's possible to lose the weight you want to lose in that timeframe but healthier to do it in a more sustainable way and it's more likely you'll keep it off.

MidnightAtTheOasis · 30/07/2019 12:51

Given that you don’t have a lot to lose it’s perhaps more realistic to lose 7 pounds on the scales through diet, and tone yourself up with 30 Day Shred or similar exercise regime which will give you the equivalent inch loss of the other 7 pounds.

OpenYourEyes · 30/07/2019 13:29

I am also a size 12 edging to a 14 but I am 2.7 stones over weight so I can see how you might want to lose weight at that size.

Good luck OP you have had lots of good advice here.

Crunchymum · 30/07/2019 13:32

@Bluetit101

How much did you loose in your second week?

LittleSF · 30/07/2019 14:14

I went gluten free in early June and lost a stone by mid July, about six weeks. Also gave up alcohol for month of July. Definitely doable if you are very strict with yourself - I eat well though, but I try not to instantly respond to every hunger feeling (or drink a cup of tea or water instead). Being gluten free means I can't eat biscuits or food that's just "there" - for example, there's a load of free sandwiches and croissants in our canteen right now which I would usually work my way through but now I can't.

I also got to the gym at least three times a week and did a 30 minute walk at lunchtime three times a week too. All of those combined led me to lose a stone in about six weeks. Was a 16/14, now a 14/12 and delighted with the results.

Constance1234 · 30/07/2019 14:41

I’ve lost 11kg in a month following the fast800 diet for two weeks, then by following the 16:8 way of eating. Most important thing is to cut out sugar and refined carbs. If you are really determined and motivated you can easily lose a stone on a month.

Constance1234 · 30/07/2019 14:41

PS I’ve read that weight loss is 80% diet and 20% exercise.

Bluetit101 · 30/07/2019 14:55

@Crunchymum
3.5lb my second week.
2.5lb my third week and another 2.5 on my fourth

hugogino · 30/07/2019 15:04

another vote for Gillian Michaels 30 day shred! Have a look at the before and after photos on Google. Good luck Smile

ScrambledSmegs · 30/07/2019 15:13

16:8. Honestly feel evangelical about it but won't add to the great advice you've had so far. I've gone from a big size 12 to 8-10 in a month. Lost just over a stone. Lots of exercise too, I love running and started HIIT classes. I'm the same height as you OP.

Bunbunbunny · 30/07/2019 15:13

Take a look at James Smith if you want long term weight loss, he cuts the crap out of diets www.instagram.com/jamessmithpt/?hl=en

Catherinem24 · 30/07/2019 15:30

I put on a massive 4 stone since having children and been on the exante diet for 2 weeks and I've lost 11lbs, I have a special needs daughter who has separation anxiety so I can't go to the gym but I have a wii fit and it really does work and we go swimming 3 times a week it is possible xxx

TerrorAustralis · 30/07/2019 15:49

Look at the Fast 800 - the book is a quick read. One stone in 30 days is entirely achievable on that program, I lost 5kg (11lbs) in two weeks. And it's all backed by the latest available research (unlike a lot of fad diets).
