The constant questions or comments that drive you mad when pregnant

Anyone else get so annoyed with the same questions or comments all the time whilst pregnant? (Probably partly hormones 😂)

Mine for example:

Not long to go now!
Wow you're getting big
You better get all the sleep you can now...

Getting told I was huge a lot. I'm short so my bump did seem to stick out a lot, but I wasn't huge FFS. Just pregnant. Now fuck off.

Also, "but that means you'll have a summer baby and they will be cursed forever by being the youngest in the year, and will be very thick, and probably criminals'. He (a complete stranger in the supermarket) didn't say the last bit but more or less said the first part. Having had two miscarriages I was waaaaay past the point of giving a shit what time of year they were born.

‘God you’re massive’
‘You’re bigger every time I see you!’
‘That skirt is doing nothing for you is it’

  • all from my manager 🙃

‘What are you having?’
I don’t know
‘Are you going to find out?’
No
‘Oh my god I bet you do know, you’re just not telling’
I do not know
‘Do you not want to know?’
No
‘Omg why don’t you want to know?!’
BECAUSE I DON’T

Smotheroffive · 31/07/2019 00:29

You mustnt do that! Shock horror! - stop running, jumping up on things, basically go into physical decline Confused
Should you be eating/drinking that
Telling me what sex of baby I was carrying. grrr!
Will you ask the gender in your scan? (How do you mean exactly... don't you mean the sex? No, the gender! Mind blown)

ItsAllGoingToBeMagnificent · 31/07/2019 01:03

"How far along are you" ... "Oh wow you're tiny aren't you, where you keeping it, your handbag?"

"Do you know what you're having?" ... "No we prefer to find out at the birth" ... "Oh I think that's lovely, no one waits for the birth these days..."

"Should you be lifting that/doing that?"

Pretty much all anyone said to me for the last 2 months, both times.

GrungeBetty · 31/07/2019 01:18

“Are you sure you should be eating that?”

Yes. I’m pregnant and could eat a scabby horse if I thought it would satisfy my hunger. Also, it’s a prawn, Susan. A prawn.

@GrungeBetty I just tried to line your comment! Grin

SIL relayed her "concerns" to MIL about me going to see Bon Jovi at Wembley when I was 11 weeks pregnant, because I had a standing ticket. I'm not sure what the actual concerns were - whether I'd be deep in a mosh pit or the dangers of crowd surfing - neither of which I would have considered even when drunk and not pregnant!

"What are you having?"
(We don't know)
"I bet your husband wants a boy though"
(He doesn't mind)
"Nah....he'll tell you that, but secretly ALL men want a son."
(Sure, man who's never met my husband, you do after all know him better than me)
"Because he'll want to play football with him and things."
(Poor husband. Of course, any daughters would be unable to have a kickabout with him due to their...vaginas getting in the way? That's the one isn't it? You're so right.)

Minxmumma · 31/07/2019 13:02

My total favourite was my FIL referring to me as 'here comes wonky tits!' to anyone within earshot.
Charming chap really! Loved his reference to my busted boob due to breast cancer that doesn't change shape or size.

And if course can I rub your bump - I want the baby to know it's me.

Finally - Should you be doing that in your condition?
I camped with my beaver scouts when I was 36weeks. We could literally throw a stone from site and hit the maternity unit so no risk of being caught out. Bag in car and extra leaders on standby if dh and I had to leave suddenly.

Pah!! Grin
