to ask where I should have my bra fitting done?

Sick of having bras that done fit. Gone from being a 32B/C to a 34F+ after breastfeeding! I'm not used to these big boobs and every time I buy a bra I realise it doesn't fit. I'm a bit embarrassed to go as my boobs are horrid and two different sizes and my belly is gross and covered in stretch marks up to my chest. Guess I'll just have to get over that

Where should I go?

Go to the Boob or Bust (BOB) Facebook group to get good fitting advice.

Heismyopendoor · 29/07/2019 09:17

Bravissimo if you have one near you. I have to travel 45 minutes to get to one, but we’ll worth it.

They don’t care what your boobs look like, they see so many every day!

isabellerossignol · 29/07/2019 09:20

I'd just do it myself. Can you afford to order a dozen bras online and return ten of them? Then you could try them on in the comfort of your own bedroom, have a jump around in them and see how they look with your clothes.

If you measure yourself and have a Google about shape rather than size you could try the brands that are most likely to be a good fit.

Malbecfan · 29/07/2019 09:22

Another vote for Bravissimo. Really nice people and very helpful. Both daughters are now fans too.

Eastie77 · 29/07/2019 09:23

I tried a few places post breastfeeding with both my DC and found Rigby & Peller are great. They don't use tape measure to size you up.

Hauskat · 29/07/2019 09:23

I went to Rigby and Peller in London a little while ago. It was EYE WATERINGLY expensive. I can not stress that enough BUT I love the bra I got from there so much. So so so much. I am a 32F and went in so pissed off with pretty bras that don’t fit I wanted to wear a sports bra everyday. The saleswoman presented me with this flimsy lace number but to my surprise I can actually run after my daughter in it. I run for joy now just because I can. But it cost £70 on sale. I have that one and a bunch of bastards that don’t fit so I have to choose what day I want feel young and happy.

Enko · 29/07/2019 09:24

Bravissimo or Rigby and peller

I do like the Facebook group mentioned to but I unlike many did not have a omg moment of wrong bra size the measurement they used agreed w the 2 above.

Yellowbutterfly1 · 29/07/2019 09:24

Unless they have suddenly started doing correctly, ie: the Bob or Bust way then definitely don’t go to Marks and Spencer

CrispSandwiches19 · 29/07/2019 09:25

I'll prob go against the grain with most views but I've never ever had an issue with M&S.. I know some do
You can even book online now.
I've never had an ill fitting bra from there in 20.years.

KTheGrey · 29/07/2019 09:26

Bravissimo do an online fitting service, I think. You can certainly have an online chat with them. They are pretty good on fitting, though I don't rate their own brand bras.

There's often a local shop full of women who can fit you just by looking at you - fully dressed - and then maybe wrap a tape measure round you under the armpits -there's the legendary Perfect Fit in Keynsham if you're around Bristol or Bath.

lidoshuffle · 29/07/2019 09:27

Another vote for Bravissimo; though having said that, the Bath one was great, the Belfast one just left me dangling so to speak, haha! I thought I was a 40E, I'm a 36FF!Blush

catchyjem · 29/07/2019 09:29

I also recommend bravissimo. Absolutely brilliant and not too expensive.

M&S happily tried to push a 38D on me when I was a young teen because their store didn't have the 32F I needed.

From what I've heard, they haven't changed. You are either lucky, or you're one of the many, many women wearing the wrong size bra.

I'm a huge Bravissimo fan, have been buying from them since they launched their mail order business in the mid 90s. But I also had a terrible fitting in their Belfast shop.

Yellowbutterfly1 · 29/07/2019 09:34

My mum always says she has never had a badly fitted bra from Marks and Spencer, unfortunately the bras she wears from there seem to be for decoration only as opposed to them doing what they are actually supposed to do, ie; support her bust.
I’ve true to get her to do the Bob and Bust way but she is of a generation that is so set in their ways at times no m&s are God.

Riv · 29/07/2019 09:35

To be fair, before babies (actually before 11 weeks pregnant) M and S bra fittings were accurate and comfortable. Then they grew beyond the C cup, but the back/ band measurement didn’t and M and S fitters just couldn’t cope (although they seemed to do the same thing as before so it is probably the bras rather than the fitter)
Bravissimo are ok, but not always, have had some really bad fittings as well as mainly good ones.
Debenhams (Gateshead Metro Center) have always been great, but have had poor service in other Debenhams.
I usually go to a local independent woman who specialises.

SistersOfPercy · 29/07/2019 10:07

Victorias Secret fitted me in the US (they have UK stores as well).
Have to say I can go into any of their stores and pick up my size and it's always extremely comfortable.

Debenhams fitted me wrong and I ended up with a bra my Mother would have been proud of with straps 2" thick and cups at least a size too big.

Oly4 · 29/07/2019 10:12

Rigby and Peller, hands down. The bras are expensive but worth buying one just for the awesome fitting.
They are my best fitting bras by far.. but I used their service to then stock up at M&S

Damntheman · 29/07/2019 10:43

What is the Bob or Bust way of fitting?

Ohwiseone · 29/07/2019 10:56

Definitely Rigby & Peller. Went to their store in Bluewater recently after being sick to death of wearing ill fitting bras that were supposedly my size!
Oh my goodness what an experience. Shocked that they don’t use tape measures. The woman checked me out in what I was wearing, came back with the most gorgeous (flimsy!) bra said try that. First one was a little tight, second one was perfect. No measuring nothing! All done on sight.
Left the shop ecstatic and very poor (5 new bras was just under £500 Confused)

They are so lovely (PrimaDonna bras) .Have to admit, now I know my size and which manufacturer fits best I’ve found an online stockist who sells them £30 cheaper than Rigby &Peller!

GoGoGoGoGo · 29/07/2019 11:01

Bravissimo without a doubt.

lau888 · 29/07/2019 11:22

I'd second Bravissimo, for sure; I've gone there for fittings while still breastfeeding. Once you have an accurate size, you can order more bras online from any retailer.

MyHeadIsBursting · 29/07/2019 11:25

Bravissimo if you’re near one. Failing that try Debenhams, there’s a woman in the Debenhams near me who can tell your size just by looking!

Brefugee · 29/07/2019 11:30

another one for Rigby & Peller. Not sure if they have it in all their places, but I had to stand with my arms out from my sides slightly, in front of a mirror then rotate slowly. Then I put on a dressing gown they gave me and had a cup of coffee while the saleswoman looked at her iPad with my data and discussed what I want out of a bra. Then she came back with half a dozen in colours and styles - some looked like lacy wisps of things - and for the first time in my life my 38 GGs had a proper bra on them. I go once a year and buy bra and matching knickers.
The rest of the time I go to M&S because I can get 6 bras there for the price of one at R&P. But the whole R&P experience is amazing.
