to ask where I should have my bra fitting done?

Sick of having bras that done fit. Gone from being a 32B/C to a 34F+ after breastfeeding! I'm not used to these big boobs and every time I buy a bra I realise it doesn't fit. I'm a bit embarrassed to go as my boobs are horrid and two different sizes and my belly is gross and covered in stretch marks up to my chest. Guess I'll just have to get over that

Where should I go?

Please try boob and bust!

Shops like m&s measure you under your bust, then add 4 inches to the measurement to give you your band size. They wouldn't do this for any other item of clothing, and makes the band loose and boobs too low.

Measure your self at home, using the boob or bust calculator and then try a few on. The BOB size is a good place to start, make sure you swoop and scoop all your boob forward (video on how to do it correctly on the BOB page) and ensure the underwire is under the bust and flat against your chest. You'll have knock out boobs that are really well supported

I've always gone to John Lewis as it's the closest store I've always had successful fittings at - I've been measured very unsuccessfully at M&S so avoid them like the plague.

I don't know how JL do it (apart from a tape measure and eyeballing). But I measured the same there last week as I do by just trying the BOB method.

Plus I have found the more you are prepared to pay for a bra in the right size, the more comfortable they are eg £40 for a 36F in JL fits a lot better than the same size in Tesco. So always worth going to a decent lingerie shop/section.

how do you measure your boobs, though? mine, shall we say, aren't what I'd call 'perky' as in they hang down a lot bit when braless. But when in a bra they are up where they should be. The underboob measurement is fine (back size) but cup-size would be hit and miss if I didn't already know (thanks, R&P)

I have always been baffled. I am a size 8-10 on top and using boororbust I am recommended a 32DD but I know that anything under a 34 is eye wateringly tight or I can't even do it up! So I buy a 34. Then, having followed a similar method and tried 32C/D/DD before, I know that there is so much fresh air in the cups it's ridiculous, so I find myself in a 34B. Even so, I still can't wait to take my bra off when I get in and I never wear underwires, they are excruciating. Maybe I have really bony ribs and weird boobs.

Is Bravissimo only for the large of nork? They is one near me but i don't think I'm their target market.

MRex · 29/07/2019 12:38

Bravissimo for measurements, you can then get bras at m&s etc (never get m&s to measure as they go too big on the back and too small in the cup).

TheGirlOnTheLanding · 29/07/2019 13:13

It's the style as well as the fit that matters @QRCode I think. For ages I was convinced the Boob or Bust cup size for me was wrong because I didn't fill the cups - I then found out on here that I probably should try on some balcony style bras rather than full cup style I'd tried on before and lo and behold, went up 2 cup sizes from what I'd been wearing but the underwire didn't hurt any more despite not changing the band size.

Boux Avenue

SerenDippitty · 29/07/2019 13:43

Another vote for John Lewis. M & S insisted I was. DD even though the bra obviously did not fit. Went to JL told I was F and the bra fitted much better.

Charley34 · 29/07/2019 13:48

Bravissimo I do buy bras from m&s but they don't last long

RandomWordsandaNumber5 · 29/07/2019 14:12

I used the booborbust site first and then went to Bravissimo. They are excellent and I now have correctly fitting bras.
Once you know your size, bellelingerie.com have stock at reduced prices and their customer see ice is good too.

RandomWordsandaNumber5 · 29/07/2019 14:16

@MoonahStone

I was wearing a 34C and was measured by Bravissimo’s staff as a 30F. Such a difference and I feel so much more comfortable.
It’s worth a visit if you’re wondering.

Divebar · 29/07/2019 14:29

Bravissimo all the way - I went in wearing a 36D but was re-fitted to a 36F. I’m now a 36G having put on weight. I dont think M&S are great for big sizes and you could easily be walking around thinking you’re wearing the fight size when you’re not. Once you’re properly fitted the change is obvious ( you look slimmer for a start).

MoonahStone · 29/07/2019 14:35

Thanks for the help randomstone

Riv · 29/07/2019 17:59

Tried the 3 nearest JL to me and had really bad service I’m sad to say. Two tried to sell me 36DD with the back too loose and the cups straining. (I am a usually 32H or 34GG depending on the make and the stage my diet has reached 😂) The other JL could only offer me the “lovely” Doreen style that my gran used to think old fashioned!! So it obviously depends on where you live and the fitter you get.
