AIBU to wonder if a seagull could really steal a chihuahua????

So people are saying on social media that the chihuahua "plucked" from a garden down south wasn't actually taken by a seagull at all.

Searches have been called off. I've read people saying that the dog had actually been sold and this was a worst ever cover story Shock

So what does everyone think really happened? Could a seagull take a 2kg dog?

PS, I did look for other posts about this and couldn't find any. Apols if this is a TAAT or anything's been deleted for any reason.

My Chihuahua is only 1 years old and I know for s fact a seagull woukdnt be able to pick him up, let alone fly away with that extra weight.

Gulls are evil

Nah, just hungry

Branleuse · 26/07/2019 22:55

gulls are incredible.

Seagulls with the black backs are very vicious especially during nesting and I have seen them attack people and they would easily take a small dog. Normal white/grey back seagulls wouldn’t/couldn’t

JaneJeffer · 26/07/2019 22:58

Either you are tiny Popping or that's the biggest chihuahua ever.

TheFridgeRaider · 26/07/2019 22:59

Wonder what the insurance pay out in these cases is

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 26/07/2019 23:01

@JaneJeffer I am tiny. He'd gained weight since having the snip.. and nothing to do with his birthday steak.. (we didnt give him a whole steak, we cut it up and used it as treats)

But is yours a miniature chihuahua like the one in the news story?

TheRedBarrows · 26/07/2019 23:11

The dog has been found:

JaneJeffer · 26/07/2019 23:12

Aww he's so cute Popping Grin

PancakeAndKeith · 26/07/2019 23:12

There is a big difference between ‘found’ and a charlatan making shit up.

TheFridgeRaider · 26/07/2019 23:12

@TheRedBarrows 😂

GettickledGETTICKLEDbyspiders · 26/07/2019 23:13

The boyfriend who was the one home with the dog has remained silent. To me that speaks volumes
So he killed it or sold it or whatever.
Why make up such a random story?

JaneJeffer · 26/07/2019 23:14

"owner Becca Hill, 24, has been given hope by a psychic who once found a lost skunk." Grin

ChicCroissant · 26/07/2019 23:18

The comments on that article with the psychic are funny - but also noticed a link on the page to a story with two drunk women on holiday getting tattoos of the dog and seagull!

OMG Grin

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 26/07/2019 23:28

Ours is a offspring of national award winning chihuahuas. I'm sure he was classed as a 'teacup chihuahua' not a miniature. As a puppy he was really, really giddy, but once he got to about 7/8motnhs he started to chunk out about more.

ILE35 · 26/07/2019 23:31

My understanding is it was a teacup chihuahua so smaller than a regular one and given how aggressive the seagulls are right now I think it is a possibility.

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 26/07/2019 23:34

Why are seagulls suddenly so aggressive?

It remind me of the film 'birds'

darkcloudsandsunnyskies · 26/07/2019 23:35

It’s bollocks.

GettickledGETTICKLEDbyspiders · 26/07/2019 23:36

I guess someone could do a Crimewatch style reconstruction of what happened - just by putting a chihuahua and a seagull in a room together and see who survives.

PoppingOneOutIn2020 · 26/07/2019 23:38

I've already done it, the chihuahua lost. @gettickledGETTICKLEDbyspiders

Time well spent on a Friday night then @PoppingOneOutIn2020 the case is solved.

pickleface · 26/07/2019 23:48

A magpie once picked up my granny's cairn terror. Dropped it like, pretty soonish though.

FurnitureAndBackgammon · 27/07/2019 09:00

Why are seagulls suddenly so aggressive?

Maybe because we are eating all their fish and they are bloody starving. It's always humans that mess up the natural balance.
