Do you enjoy smoking?

Ok so just that really, do you enjoy smoking?

Bit more to the reason why I am asking ... Yesterday I was in a hot car with a friend who used to smoke cigs but now has one of those vapes, I hate it! Really hate it so much I want to burn the sodding thing an watch it melt lol. 😂

I was sitting there in a cloud of shit, that was strawberry. I ended up blowing up at him. I told him to smoke the real thing instead! Yes cigs stink too but damn vapes to hell, they give off so much smoke or whatever it's called. I found myself wanting to slap it out of his hand. Oh and he sucks on that thing more then he used to smoke.

Yes I know I was BU, but it was hot, stuffy and being choked on strawberry fake shit just pushed me over the edge. Angry

Anyway rant over, back to my question do you enjoy smoking and do you smoke the real McCoy or vape?

Also am I on my own in hating vapes? Does anyone else think they are annoying? Just why not quit if you don't enjoy smoking anymore? 🤔

I was never really a serious smoker and I hate the smell of fags (and vapes) on people and in the street etc... But every so often I have a real craving for a cigarette, usually when it's sunny and I'm drinking, so I'll have one. It's not very often though so a pack will last me at least a year 😂

Also I smoke Vogue ultra slim menthols which are properly wanky and aren't even really proper cigarettes

YourSarcasmIsDripping · 22/07/2019 21:27

Also I smoke Vogue ultra slim menthols

Oh that bring back memories .Grin

I think it looks more when people are vaping but if you think about it, having a cig involves taking, idk, around 20 drags in a short space of time. Vaping tends to involve taking fewer drags but spread out over the course of the day. I could never take 20 drags on my vape in 5 minutes yet I could easily have smoked a full cig in that time.

A packet of delicious tasting Embassy No. 1 would be infinitely more enjoyable than my vape pen, the pen is just the lesser evil.

KipperCuddlingGrimbots · 22/07/2019 21:34

I started very young. Around 14.
I absolutely loved smoking.
As others say, it was like a completely relaxation.

I use a vape now - but I still have a pack of cigarettes when I go out drinking (rarely) and enjoy it just as much as I did when I was 14.

My vape was worth it's weight in gold when my mum died last year. I could've easily jacked the whole lot in and started my 20 a day habit again, but the vape prevented that.

KipperCuddlingGrimbots · 22/07/2019 21:36

@Nowisthemonthofmaying My first ever fag was a Vogue. Memories!

I thought I was so elegant Grin

lostfrequencies · 22/07/2019 22:08

Yes, sadly I do.

WishMyNameWasWittyNotShitty · 22/07/2019 22:13

I miss smoking! I loved sitting outside, taking 5 minutes away from everything.
I gave up when expecting, and I probably won't light up again for a while, but my God I miss it!

Sweetooth92 · 22/07/2019 22:28

Love it. A warm evening with a chilled drink and a cigarette when everything is done and straight is just the best thing.
I stopped before DS was born when I realised I was pregnant a few years ago but still crave a cold pint and a cigarette when the house is peaceful of an evening

Mac47 · 22/07/2019 22:30

I hate the fact that I smoke, but I love smoking, if that makes any sense. I have no more than 5 a day and each one is lovely but I hate the fact I have any. I aim to stop often, but it really is one of my most pleasurable things, vile as it is.

groundanchochillipowder · 22/07/2019 22:33

I loved it! I vape now.

Lilmissmissy · 22/07/2019 22:40

I enjoy smoking
I dont smoke indoors i sit in my garden
I never smoke round non smokers as i find its very rude.
I find the whole vaping thing ridiculous, a friend once got in my car had a toot on his vape and i couldnt see through my windscreen. From then i hated the damn things.

domton · 22/07/2019 22:44

I loved it too. It's been about 4 months I think, and slowly weaning myself off the vape nicotine. I absolutely loved smoking, but like someone else said, hated the fact that I smoked. I leave the pen in the car now, so don't get nicotine in the day at work, and I aim to be totally nicotine free in a few months. I don't have one of those cloud creators though, it's subtle.

Funnily, I don't miss smoking cigarettes, and never feel like having one even though I really enjoyed it. Maybe that habit has finally been broken...wouldn't tempt fate by trying one though...

Asta19 · 22/07/2019 23:13

reports indicate that the number of cigarette smokers is decreasing yearly

I don’t disagree with that statement. However, number of smokers is calculated via cigarette sales. I don’t know one smoker who buys their cigarettes from the supermarket anymore. Everyone I know of who smokes either gets them from abroad like me or buys “under the counter” cigarettes. So we aren’t counted in the number of smokers. So while numbers are decreasing, it isn’t as rapidly as it seems,

LordRudolphVII · 22/07/2019 23:22

I never enjoyed smoking like I do vaping. Smoking just stopped an itch but vaping is to me like being a wine connoisseur (although I get why some don't like it).

The gov review of all the studies estimates vaping to only be 5% as harmful as smoking.

ahhgowan · 22/07/2019 23:31

@Mitebiteatnite my asthma has got worse over the years since I stopped smoking too Shock it's quite annoying really that now I'm living a much healthier lifestyle my asthma is worse than ever!!

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 22/07/2019 23:39

I fucking love smoking. I consider myself to be a 'considerate' smoker - only ever smoke outside, make sure I'm well away from other people, if there's no ashtray the fagbutt goes in a pocket in my bag... but god YES I love it.
It punctuates the day for me. Also handy when DP & I are doing something and we both want to escape certain people 'fag break?' 'Yeah...' Wink

maiafawnly · 22/07/2019 23:40

I moss smoking so much. I get its cheaper healthier better for the kids. But fuck me nothing beat the rush of the first drag after a shitty day

Mitebiteatnite · 23/07/2019 06:46

@ahhgowan it's so frustrating! I thought I'd feel better after stopping, and I did for a year or so. Then I had the flu, a huge asthma attack that hospitalised me for a week and I've never been the same since. It somehow triggered a load of allergies I didn't have before and now I'm basically ill all the time Sad

Cannyhandleit · 23/07/2019 06:50

I am an ex smoker and some days I miss it sooooo much! I also hate capes, I tried them but just couldn't do it so went cold turkey!

golddustwomen · 23/07/2019 07:01

I love smoking. That first fag and brew of the day is so relaxing. Also love it when I am drinking alcohol.

SinkGirl · 23/07/2019 07:05

I miss smoking so much. Except I had a few drags from one recently and it was awful, nothing like it is in my head!

I’m vaping, there are different types and mine certainly doesn’t produce giant clouds like that. If anyone is wanting to move from smoking to vaping, you need nicotine salts e-liquid rather than regular stuff - it’s absolutely miraculous.

MarianaMoatedGrange · 23/07/2019 07:16

I'm on Team @Pyjamaface going cold turkey today! smoking my last couple, then that's it! I've stopped before for years, then stress at a shit job started me off again. Job gone, no excuse now!

SinkGirl · 23/07/2019 08:00

Good luck Mariana

No sort of NRT worked for me - didn’t impact the cravings at all. I tried everything, including vaping.

Reading about nicotine salts e liquid changed everything for me - something to do with the nicotine being processed differently and the nicotine hit being closer to cigarettes. I know it works as months on I used normal liquid by mistake and had awful cigarette cravings again.

It made it so much easier to quit. Now having to gradually cut down the amount of nicotine in the liquid. Getting there!

redcarbluecar · 23/07/2019 08:05

Yeah, I like very occasional smoking as long as I’m around people who are also doing it. I like a cig with a coffee or glass of wine, particularly on a nice summer evening. I also sometimes have a packet with me if I’m going to a social event (e.g. wedding) on my own, as a group of smokers can be quite easy to chat to. On the whole though I can take or leave smoking, fortunately.
