Do you enjoy smoking?

Ok so just that really, do you enjoy smoking?

Bit more to the reason why I am asking ... Yesterday I was in a hot car with a friend who used to smoke cigs but now has one of those vapes, I hate it! Really hate it so much I want to burn the sodding thing an watch it melt lol. 😂

I was sitting there in a cloud of shit, that was strawberry. I ended up blowing up at him. I told him to smoke the real thing instead! Yes cigs stink too but damn vapes to hell, they give off so much smoke or whatever it's called. I found myself wanting to slap it out of his hand. Oh and he sucks on that thing more then he used to smoke.

Yes I know I was BU, but it was hot, stuffy and being choked on strawberry fake shit just pushed me over the edge. Angry

Anyway rant over, back to my question do you enjoy smoking and do you smoke the real McCoy or vape?

Also am I on my own in hating vapes? Does anyone else think they are annoying? Just why not quit if you don't enjoy smoking anymore? 🤔

I loved smoking. Stopped in 2005 and life is fine without, wonderful and lovely 😹 I did enjoy a fag and a pint in the pub. But that's not an option outside your own home now. Honestly I'd never have one again and I'm none the worse for it.

MT2017 · 22/07/2019 19:30

I used to work somewhere that had a smoking room!

2eternities · 22/07/2019 19:34

Tbh neither I only enjoy smoking weed so that's all I smoke. I barely drink so don't see the problem it chills me out and gives me 5 minutes peace from life.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 22/07/2019 19:39

I stopped smoking for vanity as I didn't want the lines caused by it,did enjoying at the time though especially with alchohol

Asta19 · 22/07/2019 19:40

When I had my kids the maternity ward had a smoking room and it was always full! It’s quite amazing how much it’s all changed in a relatively short time. To be fair, I don’t think it’s a bad thing that smoking is dying out. I do think some of the current guidance is a bit OTT truth be told but it doesn’t affect me so people can carry on with it!

notsohippychick · 22/07/2019 19:47

I only enjoy my first one of the day. The rest I can live without, but that’s the point at the moment I don’t seem able. I’m desperate to give up. I gave up alcohol so I don’t have that as a trigger.

Any advice would be most welcome. I don’t want to vape. It just feels like my one and only “guilty pleasure” will be gone!

AliasGrape · 22/07/2019 19:54

I bloody loved smoking. I was never a heavy smoker - a pack of twenty would last a couple of weeks unless there was a big night out in there, but I did REALLY enjoy the cigs I had.

I’ve given up for years now save the very occasional one when drinking. But since I don’t drink very often these days either it is very rare. The other time I really want to smoke is on holiday - something in my brain associates the two. I had a few holidays where I would smoke whilst there then not touch them again once home, but now I just fantasise about smoking in the sun but don’t actually do it! I did try vaping when giving up but it just doesn’t do it for me, I’d rather do without.

My friend who was a heavier smoker than me has switched to vaping and honestly the thing is never out of her mouth. She’ll sit puffing away on it watching tv or whatever which she’d never have done with actual cigarettes, I think she has a far bigger vaping habit than she ever did a smoking one.

sideorderofchips · 22/07/2019 19:54

Yes I do

It’s a break

Accountant222 · 22/07/2019 20:06

I love having a fag and a cuppa, one of life's simple pleasures

CaravanHero · 22/07/2019 20:08

Used to smoke from age 17 to 26. Mainly vaped from 26 to 32 (couple of short lived falls off the wagon).

Now I don’t ‘usually’ do either - although I had a real cig on Friday and it was bloody lovely - scarily lovely so I’ll make sure I don’t slip again!

Yabu to tell anyone to smoke rather than vape though.

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 22/07/2019 20:11

I smoke and I enjoy it very much.

verystressedmum · 22/07/2019 20:20

I used to smoke. I loved smoking, although when I was smoking I hated it and wanted to quit but when I quit I wanted to do it.
However now I vape as cigarettes will kill me and hopefully vaping will not kill me as fast.

Vaping is totally different to smoking. You don't pop outside and vape constantly for 5 minutes then that's it for an hour.
You take in much less nicotine in a puff of vape than in a cigarette. You are supposed to vape little but often that's how it works. I take a puff or two every so often.

Very honest replies on this thread ....

Withnailandaye · 22/07/2019 20:25

Vaper here!
I used to smoke around 15 roll ups a day (perfered them to normal cigarettes) and I'm so glad I made the swap.
I don't care what people think, it's cheaper and like a pp, I've just got a £20 pen that doesn't give off daft clouds, it's no worse that a puff of a cigarette would be.
I think it's odd he didn't open a window.. I vape in my car and I'd be worried I wouldn't be able to see out If the windows were closed.
I'm happy with my choice, I find vapes cleaner and I don't stink of tobacco anymore (I had no idea how bad the smell was until I gave up Blush) its the lesser of two evils in my book and im sticking to it 🤷‍♀️

Zippyx · 22/07/2019 20:27

Thing is, people a while, quit whilst their lungs aren't that bad and then 10 years later go to their GP and find out they've got COPD.

Filthy habit - both vaping and smoking. Both extremely inconsiderate to those around them. 😡

Zippyx · 22/07/2019 20:27

people smoke a while*

Withnailandaye · 22/07/2019 20:29

Oh and fwiw.. I was a big fan of smoking back in the day.
I had a cigarette last week when my vape battery ran out and I was concerned I would end up punching someone in the face after two hours and it was horrible 🤢 so I'm totally converted.

ScrommidgeClaryAndSpunt · 22/07/2019 20:29

I loved it to the extent of 40+ a day but it turns out that my lungs weren't quite as robust as I thought, and now (over 10 years after giving up) it's steroid inhalers and Ventolin all the way.

Eminybob · 22/07/2019 20:31

I gave up 6/7 years ago but still miss it. I enjoyed it a lot and could easily pick up a cigarette and smoke it now given half a chance. I have had the odd once since quitting and managed not to relapse as I wouldn’t want to be a smoker again now I have kids.

Threeminis · 22/07/2019 20:38

Best of luck @Pyjamaface
I quit in January. It's pretty hard going but so worth it.

To answer your question op, I loved smoking. Just didn't want my kids thinking it's the 'done' thing

Fishcakey · 22/07/2019 20:46

I stopped a few years ago and I miss it every day. I have never vaped, I can't see the point. God I would love a fag!!!

sneakypinky · 22/07/2019 20:50

God I miss smoking. I quit 5 years ago, and have the occasional cheeky one at weddings and Christmas.

I loved it. When I'm in beer gardens I lean into peoples smoke.

Rosehip10 · 22/07/2019 21:12

Smoking and vaping is common.

GibbonLover · 22/07/2019 21:17

Smoking and vaping is common

Well, reports indicate that the number of cigarette smokers is decreasing yearly so I'd say that smoking isn't as common a sight as it used to be. Conversely, the number of vapers is increasing yearly so I predict that seeing others using vaping devices will become a more common sight as the years go on.

DrinkTaboo · 22/07/2019 21:21

Wow did not expect to get so many replies lol.

Thought I wound get flamed by a few and that's it. So thank you all for your honest replies.

Just to clear a few things up.. the window was open both mine and his but I still got a cloud of strawberry shit every few seconds.

I was not saying oh "just quit" like it's easy. I was asking if you don't enjoy it anymore, why not quit instead of just switching. No offense intended.

I know I was BU to tell him just to smoke a real cig, I just lost it as I said in the OP.

This was never meant to be a anti smoking thread, it was a rant/question as I just don't get the whole vaping thing tbh. After reading replies I still don't get it lol. I get smoking is enjoyable for the reasons you have all said but vaping? I do know a few people who vape and they all seem to 'smoke' it more then they did cigs, is vaping more addictive?

Also best of luck to all who want to quit. Smile
