I do like his show but honestly, what a fuss he makes about Serious Jockin’ on a Friday! It’s just tunes Steve, get over it!

But don’t people text in to be like “driving to Wales this afternoon for a weekend away - serious drivinG”

If you think that THAT is dim (which it indeed very much is), listen to this competition on Australian radio. I believe it was totally genuine Grin

WarmSausageTea · 22/07/2019 19:26

Steve Wright must know where a LOT of bodies are buried, because he and his program are abysmal, old-fashioned, smug bollocks. And he’s paid a bloody fortune, too.

Also, Jeremy Vine is a fool and should be replaced by Vanessa Feltz.

Madbengalmum · 22/07/2019 19:31

It reminds me of my childhood, i like it.

Mysterian · 22/07/2019 19:35

DJs get stale really quickly. No "banter" type segment of a radio show should be allowed to go on for more than 3 months.

OrchidFlakes · 22/07/2019 19:37

I always have radio 2 on in the car but I’d rather drive in silence than listen to Steve ‘I love myself’ Wright. He’s just awful, misogynistic, out of date and truly awful. I wish he’d retired or something!

CheckingOutTheQuantocks · 22/07/2019 19:42

I just cannot. Do people really text in and say "We're just doing some DIY while we listen to the show - serious carpet layin' no G!" Have they no self-respect? Graham Norton is the only one I listen to on Radio 2 now, although even he's off on his summer holidays at the moment. Has anyone mentioned Elaine Paige yet? Angelic singing voice, but when she giggles, she sounds like Goofy.

BareBelliedSneetch · 22/07/2019 19:51

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll I have the same rant about factoids every time I accidentally hear his show!

rosamacrose · 22/07/2019 19:52

I haven't listened to him lately, but I remember when Steve Wright was on Radio 210 in Reading.
He was ver ver important.
One episode I'll never forget (decades later, so it really made an impression) was when he berated the town of Bracknell for being closed on a Sunday.
He'd been out, it seems, and couldn't find a restaurant open on a Sunday afternoon.
This was in the 70s. Pre-dating the 7 day week and frankly, Bracknell? (At the time it was not much more than a ring road)
Been waiting YEARS to share that story.
Bloke seemed a bit of a prick really. Grin

Allhallowseve · 22/07/2019 19:58

Ah my people ! Absolutely can not stand serious jockin.
Iv said this before and il say it again what is with the singing over the end of songs ? He thinks it’s absolutely hilarious . It’s one of the most irritating programmes on the radio how on earth does it continue?

GorkyMcPorky · 22/07/2019 20:27

Whenever he's off and Craig Charles stands in for him, I always find myself thinking how very very much better a presenter Craig is

God no. Can't stand him either.

Bubblysqueak · 22/07/2019 20:29

I've now followed Chris Evans over to virgin and end up listening to it all day. Only go back to R2 for Graham Norton on a Saturday and absolute radio for Jason Manford on a Sunday.

millimollimandi · 22/07/2019 20:36

Another for the 'sh*t where's the off button?' can't STAND the bloke. Unfortunately our local station at the same time (when I'm driving home) is also bleeding awful..

maddiemookins16mum · 22/07/2019 20:36

The tunes are good and I honestly think it’s all a piss take. He knows it cringe making.

maddiemookins16mum · 22/07/2019 20:38

Cannae stand Craig Charles, he honestly gives me the creeps.
They should put oooh Gary Davies on.

chilledteacher · 22/07/2019 20:39

Can't stand him, listen to R2 until just after the 2pm news, turn it off and switch back on at 5. He clearly has dirt on someone at the BBC, way past his sell by date.

millimollimandi · 22/07/2019 20:40

Even the theme tune that goes on and on sounds like a piss take

Aha! I'm pretty sure that that music was composed by his brother, especially for the show. It has to be a certain length for his brother to get royalties. So every time he plays it (i.e. every day) his brother gets paid...

boredboredboredboredbored · 22/07/2019 20:43

Can't stand him. The whole fake laughing shit puts me right off.

ThisIsNotAIBUPeople · 22/07/2019 21:05

Also, when he sings over the end of songs, he sings out of tuneAngryEnvy

VoyageInTheDark · 22/07/2019 21:08

Was discussing Steve Wright with DH the other day because I don't understand how he has so much air time. He's so cringe. I don't understand the 'no g' thing either. It's not clever or funny.

Disfordarkchocolate · 22/07/2019 21:11

His love songs show is even more surprising. Never has a presenter been more suited to a show full of break up songs, instead it's love songs with an added smattering of sarcasm and bitterness.

CheckingOutTheQuantocks · 22/07/2019 21:12

bored the worst of it is, I don't think it's fake laughter. I think he really does find himself that amusing.

RunningNinja79 · 22/07/2019 21:14

He reminds me of an old teacher who's trying to be 'cool and down with the kids', but fails miserably. Not sure if that's what he's intending though.

Can't stand Jeremy Vine. That includes on Eggheads too.

BubblesBubbly · 22/07/2019 21:18

@Allhallowseve his singing and talking over songs really pisses me off!

Bountylisa7 · 22/07/2019 21:20

Can’t stand and and his sycophantic sidekicks.

BubblesBubbly · 22/07/2019 21:21

The best thing about zoe going to the morning is that Rylan got the saturday gig! Love him!! Winning at life 🤣 Then Liza afterwards!

I enjoy cooking on a sat eve as I lock myself in the kitchen listening to them
