Just that really! Got my sons (year 1) teacher a gift set with a selection of little flavoured gins in as a present for end of year, my friend seems to think it's not appropriate. Thoughts?

@tigerlily111 little dramatic there, the 6 year old was clutching a gift bag which contained a gift set of some miniature flavoured gins. Looked no different to a bath set.
Judge away though, I am 😁

As a teacher I strongly urge you to give the gin. Can't think of anything I'd rather receive!

I would judge a parent who thinks sending a 5 or 6 year old in clutching a bottle of gin, is in any way appropriate.

I’m a teacher and I wouldn’t judge. I’d drink the gin.

Most of the non teachers, “I don’t think alcohol is appropriate”.
Most of the teachers, “GIMME THE GIN!”

I think it’s better to get something consumable as even if it’s not to their taste it could be swapped and is more useful than another generic mug.

Bit late to this party but yes! Oh yes give her the gin.
Teacher here and my favourite ever gift (apart from the child designed and written thank you cards which I love and have kept every one since I started teaching) is the miniature gin, tin of slimline tonic and a lemon that one kind parent sent.
Incidentally I don’t like gin normally but that one, drunk at home after the last day of term, was just perfect and memorable (in a good way) 😊

Struggling with lack of sleep while feeding baby, I read this as AIBU to give gin to a toddler!!! It did at least wake me up a bit!!! Note to self, read things extra carefully tonight!!

Every parent who wants to contribute should put £ in a designated PayPal account or cash in hand. The teacher can then buy what they need/want rather than receiving 25 boxes of Celebrations.

Pre School teacher here Gin beats Flowers or Cake or smellies or anything really .... go for it Grin
