Ok so...i live in a block of six flats. On the ground floor there are two flats that smell bad. Old lady flat stinks of smoke so bad that when she opens the door the entire stairwell smells of it for hours. However she doesn’t have her door open much so I can live with that even if it’s gross anyway the other groundfloor flat stinks of I’m not even sure what. It’s like rotting stale meat and fried foods smell. Which wouldn’t bother me if he didn’t leave his front door wedged open ALL day so that the smell fills the communal stairwell and he is right by the main front door. It’s vile! Not only this but he has piled a load of tools oil petrol and spray paint and rubbish outside the building on a communal flowerbed opposite his parking space. I don’t understand why he has to leave all this out but surely he shouldn’t be allowed to do this, especially the fuel can?

Would I be unreasonable to contact the landlord about the junk outside and the smell?

Bumping this one for you, OP. But sounds like the stuff in the communal space at least could definitely be addressed. Good luck with it!
