Ours came from an ad on Pets4homes. Had no idea this wasn’t good. Dog has been fine though.

Yappy Ever after dog rescue. Both dogs.

tinytriumphs · 16/07/2019 20:15

Rescue. Lovely nature and we have children. Personally I wouldn't buy a pet but happy to make donation.

Lovelyhotday · 16/07/2019 20:15

wow we were both happy with the agreement, that's all that matters really.

Hearthside · 16/07/2019 20:16

FudgeBrownie2019 you are me 🤣 my poor DH is the same he never knows what will appear .Think he given up now 🤣.

Heismyopendoor · 16/07/2019 20:17

We got DDog from a breeder who had a farm. Not a puppy farm :) both mum and dad were theirs.

We did try all the rehoming centres but they had no puppies (understandably, I’m not moaning) and they would give us a dog over one as they had no idea of its history. All of them said no kids or kids all had to be over 10/12 depending on the dog.

The wild.

Hearthside · 16/07/2019 20:19

Flowery he is gorgeous 😍 we have a Springer too. Completely batty and stubborn but we wouldn't be without him .

SophyStantonLacy · 16/07/2019 20:21

@Vibiano our dog also came from a gamekeeper on an estate.

puppy23 · 16/07/2019 20:23

Local rescue centre - they foster all the dogs in their homes rather than in kennels which I love. We've had her for 2 and a half years now, she was so nervous when she first came to us but she's become so brave and we love her cheeky personality so much.

rickandmorts · 16/07/2019 20:25

Both our current dogs are from travellers

I have a golden retriever who I puppy walked for guide dogs and he was a bit daft and was frightened of loud traffic despite lots of exposure etc so when he didn’t make it we kept him he’s a lovely boy sad that he didn’t make it to help a blind person (he used to climb under my legs etc near roads If a bus passed by, so no use to a blind person)

Pets4Homes.

Breeder was very picky, wouldn't sell without meeting each potential buyer in her home. If you didn't sound interested she suddenle had no puppies. She grilled me for a few days over email, then invited me to visit, where she grilled me again.

I asked quite a few questions, met her kids, her partner, all 6 of the puppies in with their mum, was shown the KC paperwork for Dad, Mum and all pups, dads 5 generation chart (quite impressive) and was given a LOT of info to take home. Weekly pupdates, pictures and invitation to drop in if I was passing - which I did a few times. That seemed to reassure the seller as much as it did me!

I found Pets4Homes website has a lot of common sense infrmation and advice, all in one place, easy to read and nderstadn. Gave me a good starting place for the kind of research I needed to do. As I was doing it the advert popped up and I emailed...

Picture you say? Our first meeting and him telling me I take up too much room on his sofa Smile

My sister. She didn't know her dog was in season when she left it with my mum.

missbattenburg · 16/07/2019 20:30

fwiw almost all the large rescues have similar conditions about dogs having to be returned to them rather than passed on somewhere else and many rescues don't ever hand over ownership of the dog. The legalities are a lifetime foster, which means the dog remains the 'property' of the charity.

FrenchyQ · 16/07/2019 20:31

Puppy farm (had no idea at the time)
Romanian rescue

Jenniferturkington · 16/07/2019 20:31

Pets4homes
The breeder’s first litter and she kept one of the pups too. I’ve stayed in touch and one of her other bitches had a litter 18 months later but that’s it- so certainly not a puppy farm.
Fully KC registered and comprehensive health checking too.

A rescue wouldn’t rehome with us as we work/have kids.

Spiderbaby13 · 16/07/2019 20:33

Spain.. my son brought him home after living there.

Ijwlad · 16/07/2019 20:34

Breeders I found on pets4homes.

wowowwow · 16/07/2019 20:34

Rescues are upfront about adoption though rather than ownership while a breeder is profiting from the puppies.

In other words it’s kind of like the difference between renting and buying.

MaMisled · 16/07/2019 20:36

Embarrassed to say, an ad from Pet4Homes, a mixed breed puppy for £250. Then, 11 mths later another mixed breed puppy from Pets4Homes for £350. I was absolutely clueless but, 7 years on, they are family, so far healthy and a total joy. Whoever said you can't buy love was mistaken. I would never go down that route again though, now that im educated on all the issues surrounding back yard breeding.

BloomsButtons · 16/07/2019 20:37

From a breed rescue in Cyprus. All UK based breed specific rescues turned us away because we have cats.
