Totally superficial I know but I think she looks absolutely fantastic.

are you still on that?

Even if they did, you would either accuse them of photoshopping their pics or being anorexic. At the end of the day, believe what you want, who cares.

Victoria Beckham, Kate Middleton, and all the others, they are just women with possibly a stronger will than the rest of us. They are not super-human, most of us could be as skinny if that was our priority.

It's a sad state of the world though when skinny or super-skinny women are accused of not existing in the real world. Seriously, how pathetic is that.

Sceptre86 · 14/07/2019 18:33

I can't say I am a fan of her figure but she is very toned not just skinny and I think it comes from exercise, playing sports. Yes she probably doesn't eat very much either. People should remember that her elder two are at school now and youngest has a nanny so she has more time than the average mum to exercise. Also personal chefs probably make her yummy high protein low carb meals so a very slim figure is not unachievable for her. She does come from a very fit family so genetics probably play a part and being photographed as often as she is definitely serves as motivation to keep the weight off. There is so much scrutiny on public womens figures.

LoafofSellotape · 14/07/2019 18:33

Wrt Diana being a virgin ,I'm sure she said in Morton's book she always felt she has to keep 'herself tidy' or some weird expression.

31RueCambon · 14/07/2019 18:34

I think she looks great and I wouldn't accuse her of being too thin
.
It'd be a lot of effort for me to be that thin but I work full time, I have two hungry teens and I have no partner to delegate half of the housework /cooking to.

But if I had a chef!
If you had a chef to cook healthy meals only it wouldn't be that hard.
I used to exercise like a mad thing and it never made me masculine. It made me have a great shape. Wish I had the time and energy now.

Thump · 14/07/2019 18:34

No - it was known as she had never had a boyfriend and it was back in the days of yore...... I think she actually admitted it herself in interviews.

I watched an interesting documentary a few months ago about how Charles was the most eligible bachelor on the scene of high society back in the day. He had trysts with Camilla until she married and gave birth and the aristocratic tradition apparently was to not toy within a marriage until they had produced the first heir. Charles was also with an Australian woman who ended up going a bit mad, falling out of a mental hospital window (whether she was pushed or threw herself out wasn't nailed down) and Charles shunned her. She was then wheelchair bound and died quite young. Then of course Charles got with Camilla eventually, though he was with her all the time apparently. It was interesting to watch. If you want I'll try to find the documentary.

They have an easier life than 99 per cent so can focus on their figures, it’s not that they have superior, iron will than most other women.

It’s a loser’s last resort around here.

Magissa · 14/07/2019 18:41

I'm sure I read somewhere that she follows the Dukan Diet.

Thump · 14/07/2019 18:43

It's choices innit.

Every single minute of every day we're making choices.

Will I have a takeaway from the Indian curry house or will I grill some salmon steaks and have a leafy side salad.

Will I have McD's for lunch, or a tuna sandwich.

Will I have 2 plums or a chocolate bar.

Will I go to Pilates, or will I have a few glasses of wine.

Will I get the bus or will I walk.

Will I bother putting that face mask on, shaving, tanning, painting my nails and moisturising or will I get a chippie in and watch Eastenders.

Will I buy the chocolate or the boring bag of mandarins.

Choices, choices, choices.

Some of us go for instant gratification (me mostly) and some find it easier to be self disciplined.

Thump · 14/07/2019 18:46

I find it particularly difficult to self discipline as I was harshly disciplined as a child, with no room or scope for self determination or decision making. You simply did what you were told. Therefore I never developed an ability to self regulate. Once out of sight of the disciplinarians, I went wild.
Kate seems to have been well brought up, is of strong character and I very much think makes her own difficult choices day in day out.

lljkk · 14/07/2019 18:46

I don't give a shiny what KM eats, but I'm intrigued about exercise. How does one keep an active lifestyle living in the fishbowl? I'd hate gym-PT only type exercise. Soul destroying. Fame sucks as far as I can tell.

Funguy · 14/07/2019 18:48

Lager and pasties and a trip down the pub. Well known fact.

most of us could be doing some kind of exercise instead of posting on MN. A simple plank for 3 minutes every day for weeks would make a huge difference 🤷

silverystream · 14/07/2019 18:50

I imagine quite easily. They live in places with copious grounds to run around. There are probably tennis courts and indoor gyms. They can go riding.

formerbabe · 14/07/2019 18:54

It would absolutely not make a huge difference. How completely ridiculous.

Teateaandmoretea · 14/07/2019 18:55

I think she's on the very low side of healthy, she doesn't look underweight to me at all, she looks fab. No way is she 48kg she's really tall and I read she was 65 at uni (when she looked similar to me).

WhenOneFacePalmDoesntCutIt · 14/07/2019 18:55

Kate has nearly unlimited access to park and outdoor venues away from the paps to work with a personal trainer. She may very well have a gym and pool, and tennis, in all her properties. She has been photographed leaving various gym clubs and has access to top private clubs.

I have no idea what she does, but I am guessing she has a lot more choice than the rest of us!

WhenOneFacePalmDoesntCutIt · 14/07/2019 18:56

formerbabe

I challenge you to do a 3 minute plank every day for the next 3 month, take a photo and last day and come back to me. Then we'll see.
Very happy to be proven wrong....

WhenOneFacePalmDoesntCutIt · 14/07/2019 18:56

*you can start with a 3 x 1minute and a break in between for the first week or so

Thump · 14/07/2019 18:59

A plank strengthens your back muscles too.
I used to be able to plank for Ireland.
Now I'm more of an actual plank.

formerbabe · 14/07/2019 19:00

@WhenOneFacePalmDoesntCutIt

For several months, I did between 7-10 gym classes (spin, pump, hiit etc) per week without changing my diet...I barely changed. I got much fitter but my body didn't change much.

Currently I walk at least 5 miles a day. Doesn't do much.

Diet is far more important than exercise when it comes to weight loss

I don't believe that planking everyday without changing diet or doing anything else would make a HUGE difference like you say.

SunnyInGrimsby · 14/07/2019 19:01

Speaking as someone who is just as skinny/thin/slim and who would love a bit more meat on the bones, it's worth bearing in mind that this may well be her natural weight as it is mine.

I would be THRILLED for an extra half stone but don't have a huge appetite. My mother was the same.

As you get older (this is not a problem for the duchess as she is young and beautiful) this is not a great look.

But when discussing thin people please don't assume this is a choice as metabolism/health issues and anxiety etc can contribute.

If anyone knows of any supplements that can stimulate appetite/weight gain, do share!

if that's what you say...

I don't disagree that diet is 70% and most people completely underestimate how much it takes to burn calories. That said, if you do a full on hour exercise a day every day for several months without upping your calories intake, you should see some difference. Maybe you needed more challenging classes.

HolyFuckballsBatman · 14/07/2019 19:13

Such a skewed idea as to what a healthy body is.

She looks slim, but healthy. We are so used to people being larger now that it's almost become normal. It's not.

The 'secret' isn't to have an army of servants or a PT.
The secret is to eat healthily, exercise and not snack all the time. Perfectly reasonable goals.

I'm 5ft 2, 7 stone and a size 0 (00 in jeans - 23inch waist). I don't have to work hard at it. I barely even exercise and I certainly don't diet.
But I eat a reasonable amount of good food and stop eating when I'm full.
It doesn't stop me from having takeaways, chocolate, sweets or alcohol. I just stop when I've had enough.

Being slim is nowhere near as unobtainable or undesirable as it's made out to be.

HarryDaylight · 14/07/2019 19:18

It's bollocks that the camera adds 10 lbs. Only fat people ever think that.
