Not a TAT but more of a follow on ? I just don't "get" them floury balls of starch that can't "take" a sauce. Except for mash which is a pain in the arse to prepare and very fattening.

Potatoes are immense. YABVVVVU.

My fussy three year old gave in this week and finally ate some mash potato and chips. She is now a total potato convert. I didn’t think I could love her anymore, but her newfound love of potatoes makes my heart sing with joy!

The worst thing about hating potatoes is having to explain the dislike; for some reason people feel the need to list all types of potatoes and check whether you like those. No, when I said I don’t like potatoes what I meant was I don’t like potatoes. Not even chips.

We practically lived on potatoes growing up . No guesses where I’m from 😜. My husband would eat them every night for dinner . My dad still does.

CHIPS which you call Crisps
Fries which you call Chips
Baked which you call Jacket
Mashed which you call Mashed
Whatever you call them - they are wonderful, and comfort food!

Potatoes are the food of the gods! So many ways to have them, I even have a cookery book dedicated to the lovely buggers.

You can also make vodka from them, other veg need to up their game in my opinion.

I could exist on a diet of champ. Just champ and nothing else. I have no class.

Mmmmm... spuds. Roasties. Jackets baked enough to stiffen up the skins; stuffed with the innards mashed up with buttery leeks, creme fraiche* and fresh ground black pepper. Real mash with creme fraiche and chives. I do the mashing in the mixer because of serious back problems.

Roasties. Potatoes boulangere if I'm cooking for company, or Dauphinois; I use shallots instead of onions.

*Creme fraiche. There is only one. Waitrose and Ocado sell it.

I saw Idahoan instant mash recommended in these columns, not necessarily AIBU. I bought some. Yeuk!! I can't describe it, it's so revolting, as bad as Smash. If the person who recommended it is on here... shame on you!

If I have family staying for a few days, I buy some spuds from these people. Yukon Gold roasties with garlic... everyone comes back for seconds.

It's 5am and you lot have made me want potato in all its glorious forms.
Where I'm from "balls of flour" is a selling point on handwritten signs by the side of the road.
I'm more of a waxy girl myself when it comes to plain boiled spuds but can appreciate a good floury baked potato loaded with salty butter.

Potato lovers- if you've never been to Gran Canaria go, and have their potatoes in garlic. Every day at every meal.

Not a big meat eater (once a week maybe), so no sausages with my mash etc. Does that explain it ? Rice/couscous/ pasta does vegetarian so much better. I like chips well enough but would rather have my battered fish in a nice roll with salad....

I love potatoes so much. My death row meal would definitely include at least two potato dishes.
