Not a TAT but more of a follow on ? I just don't "get" them floury balls of starch that can't "take" a sauce. Except for mash which is a pain in the arse to prepare and very fattening.

New potatoes with butter, mint and salt. Could eat them till I burst.

Kallyderon · 13/07/2019 19:41

@EdWinchester I feel your pain.

LinusSula · 13/07/2019 19:45

Potatoes gonna potate.

I miss potatoes. Carbs make my gut ache. But I love jacket spuds, mash, roast, dauphinoise, new potatoes and chips. I miss potatoes.

FortheloveofJames · 13/07/2019 19:51

@MashedSpud

Boil em, mash em, stick them in a stew Grin

BertieBotts · 13/07/2019 19:55

I never liked them as a child, but I love them now. I don't know what it is about them. The combination with butter. The crispy edges of a proper roast potato or a jacket. They have a really nice flavour IMO. I like all kinds of potato now. But chips are bleh. They are (almost) the most boring kind of potato, second only to plain boiled potatoes.

underthebridgedowntown · 13/07/2019 19:56

Potatoes are the best. Although this is partly because they are an excellent vehicle for butter, hence mash and jackets being the king of all potato types. Oh, except for roasties. They win, although they don't really even count as food, but crispy little nuggets of joy.

BertieBotts · 13/07/2019 19:56

OK no hang on, the scale of awfulness goes

Any potato that has come out of a tin

Plain boiled

Chips
Everything else

pigsDOfly · 13/07/2019 19:58

I love jacket potatoes, and am quite fond of new potatoes - no mint on them though.

Other than that I'm not fussed. I could live for the rest of my life and never eat a chip and it really wouldn't bother me.

BackforGood · 13/07/2019 19:58

Hating so may ways of having your carbs seems a bit of a strong emotion.

You can have jackets, boiled, dauphinoise, mash, chips, wedges, diced. Hot, cold - as part of a hot dinner or a salad / buffet.
You are missing out on so many options.

PickAChew · 13/07/2019 20:01

Love a spud. Good spuds are so tasty.

OneHanded · 13/07/2019 20:02

Fellow potato hater here! Hi!

NabooThatsWho · 13/07/2019 20:03

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 13/07/2019 20:32

You are being so unreasonable that they need a new word for it.

To hate potatoes ?
LadyRannaldini · 13/07/2019 20:47

Yoghurt
Anything oaty
Olives
Coriander, uncooked

These are a few of my least favourite things!
Surely we are allowed likes and dislikes without having to justify ourselves to some random stranger.

madcatladyforever · 13/07/2019 20:48

I love potatoes but they get stuck in my gastric band.

LazyLemur · 13/07/2019 21:02

Mash is not fattening unless you don't watch your portion and pile load of random shit in it.
Garlic salt, black pepper, olive oil... all it needs

Potatoes are my favourite carb of all times ❤🥔
Mash, new, roast, jacket, rosti, wedges, chips. Ahh.

likeafishneedsabike · 13/07/2019 22:53

The rest of the family won’t touch a tatty. It’s all very odd.

recklessgran · 13/07/2019 22:55

I adore them, particularly roast in beef fat or chips.

PawPawNoodle · 13/07/2019 22:56

I have gone to the effort of making mash just for myself I love it so much.

Siameasy · 13/07/2019 23:02

I love chips and roast potatoes. Potatoes work so well with fat. Sadly they play havoc with my blood sugar so I truthfully only eat them a few times a year.
Can take or leave mash and jackets.

Jsmith99 · 13/07/2019 23:03

Mmmm Potatoes!

Soft, creamy pillows of mash with my sausages.
Crisp, crunchy roasties with my beef.
Rich, garlicky dauphinoise with my lamb.
Delicious Jersey Royals with asparagus in May.
Hot, salty chips in a butty when I’m pissed.

It must be my Irish ancestry...

Sforsh49 · 13/07/2019 23:36

I have met my people.

I LOVE POTATOES (but not chips!)
