About colleague and their ridiculous diet

I don’t usually get involved with what other people eat but the lady I sit next to at work is doing a VLCD. Fair play to her I’d not have lasted 5 minutes. HOWEVER, she now just helps herself to other people’s food ad lib. I rarely snack at work but bought a bag of crisps yesterday and while I was on the phone she kept leaning over and helping herself to them when I got off the phone and said “do you mind” her response was “I wish I could eat crisps and stay skinny.”
I got to eat hardly any of my fucking crisps!!!!
She’s done it to a lot of colleagues, will just walk past and pick up whatever they’ve got and break off a bit, and most strangely when I was getting my lunch ready and had a bowl on the side and was washing some cutlery came and swiped the most enormous tablespoon full of it.

Aibu to say if you’re that fucking hungry on your ridiculous diet just get something else to fucking eat. Angry
Queeny doesn’t share food.

YANBU. I would have already said it. Donna doesn't share food either!!!!

Singlebutmarried · 12/07/2019 07:45

VLCD?

ImpossibleGirl86 · 12/07/2019 07:45

Stab her with your fork/pen/whatever pointy thing is available next time.

lastqueenofscotland · 12/07/2019 07:45

Very low calorie diet

TheyCallMeMellowYellow · 12/07/2019 07:46

Whoa, I would have snapped!

She'll be wondering why she's not lost weight in a few weeks 🙄

CacenCrunch · 12/07/2019 07:46

What's VLCD?
Very annoying, I would tell her not to eat my food!

Singlebutmarried · 12/07/2019 07:46

Aaaahhhh

She had her quota with your crisps then. Or is it only calorific if she buys/prepares it?

Take a fork to work.

Stab when applicable.

lastqueenofscotland · 12/07/2019 07:47

Theycall she didn’t lose anything last week as was wondering why.
Maybe the fact you’re probably getting 1000 calls a day in nicking 20 other people’s food?!

maras2 · 12/07/2019 07:47

very low calorie diet.

Sceptre86 · 12/07/2019 07:48

This would piss me off no end and I would be likely to tap her hand or stab her with a fork. I really do not like people touching my food without asking, even when they ask I'm like meh get your own! Yanbu, if she is on a faddy diet she needs to be drinking shed loads of water to fill herself up and look at the type and quantity of what she is eating. Don't let her steal your food!

IceRebel · 12/07/2019 07:48

This has nothing to do with her diet, she's blatantly stealing food and your all allowing her to get away with it. Confused I would ask her if she'd walk into a supermarket and help herself to food, it's the same situation, theft is theft.

Sicario · 12/07/2019 07:48

Make decoy snack of something really disgusting that you got out of the bottom of a bin. Put it in open crisp packet. Leave in position...

IceRebel · 12/07/2019 07:48

*You're

BellyAching19 · 12/07/2019 07:48

This would drive me in sane. I would have to say something. I don’t eat massive amounts but I’m quite protective of what I do eat.

ZoeWashburne · 12/07/2019 07:49

That is really sad and pathetic. Just a simple ‘I’m sorry, I don’t share food’. She keeps grabbing your crisps, move them out of reach. When she eats out of your bowl, just ask her, ‘did you just eat my lunch?’ and make her squirm. If she gets defensive, and you need to be direct just say ‘Jane, you keep eating my food. I do not have enough to share, and therefore you are leaving me hungry. Please use the vending machine if you would like crisps or other snacks because I can’t keep feeding you.’

lastqueenofscotland · 12/07/2019 07:50

I’ve said something jokingly a few times but I think if it happens again I’ll probably snap

OP posts:
lastqueenofscotland · 12/07/2019 07:50

Zoe that line is perfect!!

Catzpyjamas · 12/07/2019 07:50

"Is this diet of yours to lose weight or save money? "

NoSauce · 12/07/2019 07:50

Jeez yanbu. I would be tempted to jab her hand with a bloody pen in your shoes. Really rude. I am funny about people ( even family ) taking food off my plate.

PooWillyBumBum · 12/07/2019 07:51

This would piss me off royally. I know people like this. As I’m tucking into pasta and then into salad, “I wish I could eat carbs” then later - when it’s someones birthday in the office - they’re coming back for their third cookie. Or necking a bottle and a half of wine at a company do. In these cases it’s completely unreasonable saying anything, so I don’t, but when she’s stealing your food!?

I think it’d be reasonable to ask her to stop. And also I would stop leaving it unattended where possible. Poo also doesn’t share food.

Stifledlife · 12/07/2019 07:52

The stupid woman is sabotaging herself, and will blame the diet!

The whole point about a VLCD is that you sole source.. in other words all you eat is the nutrient rich, carbohydrate free food they provide.

If she is eating crisps and spoons full of other stuff she will throw herself out of ketosis, and make herself feel horrible. It's called ketosis flu for a reason.

Tell her that while she's nicking your food.. silly woman!

SausageEggAndSpam · 12/07/2019 07:55

That's seriously not on. A friend of mine chugged down half of my pot noodle one lunch break at sixth form. I was tamping.

Tell her straight. Perhaps at the start of your working day, take her aside and have a short quiet word just to say that you don't appreciate her helping herself to your lunch and could she please stop. If she doesn't stop, take it higher. She's a total CF

TwistyTop · 12/07/2019 07:55

She's being extremely rude

acatcalledjohn · 12/07/2019 07:56

Or maybe let her suffer the keto flu, then when she has it point out that had she not repeatedly taken other people's carb rich foods she'd have been fine.

Failing that, use @Catzpyjamas suggestion.

MinistryOfTragic · 12/07/2019 07:57

Yeah, that's so annoying and rude. I'd be pointing out that all the calories she shoves in her gob count, the ones she's stealing from other people aren't free just because she's not paid for them.

I like @Catzpyjamas suggestion. Short, sweet, and makes the point brilliantly.
