@MrsPerfect12 how much do you take and how often?

I take magnesium to help me sleep but it helps me evacuate my bowels very effectively in the morning and that helps regulate my weight.

yarenbaren · 12/07/2019 11:57

Cocaine

But seriously I'm currently trying to shift my baby weight and you just have to work through that initial hunger. My body adjusted after a week. Quick fixes NEVER work (coming from someone who has suffered from eating disorders and has tried it all).

yarenbaren · 12/07/2019 11:58

I find eggs help with hunger pangs.

lljkk · 12/07/2019 19:17

did your DH eat as much of low carb foods, especially good protein and fat as he wanted

Gosh, he didn't restrict calories as well as carbs, that sounds like a nightmare. We seem to both remember eggs & butter, and must have been a mountain of veg. I'm tired today so can't remember what "bad' low carb foods there are. What are they, anyway?

What are the measurable health indicators that improve after 2 weeks, TescoF?

NationMcKinley · 12/07/2019 19:21

I’m doing the Michael Mosley 16/8 and that has worked amazingly well at reducing my appetite. I’m also taking apple cider vinegar capsules which some people say help - I’m not sure but they have absolutely made my skin loads better

littlepeaegg · 12/07/2019 19:58

I am honestly in the same boat!

I am googling appetite suppressants but unsure really.... I took some weird ones when I was younger t5's or something... but they made me feel so ill!!

KingMidasAteMidges · 12/07/2019 20:13

Off the top of my head, blood sugars, cholesterol readings, blood pressure, inflammation indicators. The particulars are easily googleable as there is now research backing this, e.g. the work of Dr Zoe Harcombe (UK).

KingMidasAteMidges · 12/07/2019 20:13

Sorry that was to lljk

lljkk · 12/07/2019 20:37

Ah, I'm not a fan of ZH.
A lot of the syst-reviews are saying there's an undesirable LDL tradeoff that can happen with low carb diets (eg).

This doesn't sell me on low carb either:
"Apart from ... lowering of HbA1c over the short term, there is no superiority of low-carbohydrate diets in terms of glycemic control, weight, or LDL cholesterol."

MrsPerfect12 · 12/07/2019 20:51

At least teaspoon in the morning diluted in water or juice. If I'm not out or don't forget I do it a couple of times a day. Some dilute in green tea. I haven't tried it tho.

BlueJava · 12/07/2019 21:59

Google "boom bod"!

BlueSkiesLies · 12/07/2019 22:01

Cocaine

BlueSkiesLies · 12/07/2019 22:02

Ephedrine - used to be available OTC in stuff like chest eze but pretty sure it’s banned now.

BlueSkiesLies · 12/07/2019 22:03

Speed

BlueSkiesLies · 12/07/2019 22:04

Mdma

Basically most illegal drugs except cannabis will suppress your appetite

CherryPavlova · 12/07/2019 22:08

Phentermine is very dangerous and to be avoided. It’s not worth the risk; it can and does cause a problem called pulmonary hypertension which you die from. Avoid slimming clinics prescribing drugs rather than offering a healthier diet and lifestyle.

KingMidasAteMidges · 12/07/2019 22:16

Lljkk, thank you for the article. I would encourage people to read through the full text of the article you have posted though, rather than make their opinion on one throwaway line. There is a fair amount of interesting stuff in there. It read to me as though the authors were trying really hard to ‘debunk’ the excellent results LCD patients were getting, greatly reducing their medication etc. The only real problem they have found was the long-term LC compliance. But then, why am I not surprised. We are considered freaks if we don’t ram cake down our throat at every opportunity. Chocolate, sugar and trashy carbs are there at every checkout and in every office tea-making station. It is actually an effort to not partake in all this, than give in and do what everybody else is doing (which may not be the best course of action for the individual).

Ponoka7 · 12/07/2019 22:22

I use Phent H from Bodyline Clinic. Theu don't interrupt my sleeping. I get them delivered by post.

I ised to take different appetite suppressants, from a doctor led clinic, but they had the effect of speed.

If you Goggle, slimming clinics in your area, there will be some offering appetite suppressants.

I've had enough of yo-yo dieting (for the past four years), so I'm on a VLCD.

Ponoka7 · 12/07/2019 22:25

CherryPavlova, different approaches work for different people.

Snowfalling · 12/07/2019 22:34

@NationMcKinley Could you expand on what skin benefits you noticed with the cider vinegar capsules? Tia

CherryPavlova · 12/07/2019 22:34

Ponoka7 Many slimming clinics have been prosecuted for entirely inappropriate use of Phentermine. It’s not another approach; it goes against all evidence and guidance. It is dangerous. The drug does not have U.K. marketing authority.
NICE recommendations offer several options including Orlistat prescription and bariatric surgery for significant obesity. It specifically does not recommend Phentermine because of the risks involved.

KingMidasAteMidges · 12/07/2019 23:02

I've had enough of yo-yo dieting (for the past four years), so I'm on a VLCD.

Ponoka, I am somewhat confused here. When you say you are done with yo-yo dieting, I take it your current VLCD is for life then? How many calories you are living on? I presume this is going to be your forever allowance?

What is your VLC daily amount exactly?

NationMcKinley · 13/07/2019 10:56

Hi @snowfalling - it’s hard to explain. I didn’t have particularly ‘bad’ skin it just looked tired and lucklustre iyswim. I was out with some friends and one of them was raving about apple cider vinegar capsules and how they’d helped her rosacea etc and made her skin look so much better. I was a bit pissed and thought what the hell and ordered some on amazon while we were talking Grin. I have lost a stone so that may be helping but I haven’t changed my actual diet other than eating a lot less. I’ve had so many comments on my skin recently and I think it looks much brighter and clearer. Hard to know if it’s truly down to the ACV but it’s the only change I’ve made so..........

Ponoka7 · 13/07/2019 11:52

CherryPavlova, many slimming clinics aren't losing their licences and are using safe drugs. Orlistat is horrific, people have tried it on the FB Groups i am on, all GP perscribed and they did nothing but have explosive shits, they lived in fear of farting. There were other side effects.

KingMidasAteMidges, i was a daily gym goer, lifted weights, loved Mutai, my hobby was hiking/camping. Then i became ill and have post viral ME. So exercise is out of the window. That is why i have yo-yo'd for only four years.

My Consultants think that a lot of my issues will stop, once i am a healthy weight. It's frustrating because i was told by some Consultants not to worry about my weight gain (5 stone) but probably 6 as I've lost muscle tone etc.

They've approved my plan, some obese people either need this or surgery. There's no use saying stick to healthy eating. I was doing better when i saw a psychologist who specialises in disability, but the funding went.

I still do calories in/out. So I'm eating around between 900-1200 depending on activity level. Usually 1000.

Once my weight is off then we'll see if my Consultants are correct. If they are then I'll be back in the gym everyday and my usual active lifestyle.

Some of my issues have caused me to go off the foods i used to enjoy, because of swallowing, heartburn etc. I was Vegan. So I'll calculate calories in/out and nutrition again and yes it will be for life.

A lot of obese people dont eat a lot, they eat a lot of calories. So, yes, eating less calories needs to be the plan for life.
