Am I the only one who laid awake for hours patting a baby's back to keep them asleep?

Because every time I stop he wakes?

I don't know if it's reflux, constipation, a tooth coming or all of the above.

But I feel like whenever someone has a bad night with their baby they wake hourly.

But when I have a bad night with the baby he wakes constantly from 7pm but come 12am he won't sleep at all unless I'm constantly patting him.
I did this until 3am.

I'm in the midst of figuring out with a diary, because it's a pattern for months.

I'm just posting to see if anyone else had to do the same for their baby because I feel like I'm the only one who breeds these babies.

Anyone else out there who patted for hours?

Yes it sounds like his health problems are causing all the restlessness. Is this something they think he'll eventually grow out of, sorry Im not sure if the details.

Yeah I guess so, the paediatricians haven't been very helpful in this area.
But mainly because he is thriving (he said huge) and he has a heart condition so that was their main focus.

This thread is ongoing in the parenting section, just wondering if there's any tips there you could steal?

Aww. 7 months! Squishy and gorgeous but bloody hard work as I remember.

giantnannyknickers · 12/07/2019 09:42

@DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou I just want to say well done mama, that's a hard graft doing that for your baby for a full 6 months. You must be absolutely shattered.

I don't have any advise re reflux but I do know baby massage can really help with constipation. And have you also tried a chiropractor?

My middle child didn't sleep until she was 18months for no reason we could find and it was exhausting. I became a shell of a person so I totally feel your pain.

ElizaPancakes · 12/07/2019 09:46

You’re not the only one. Ours didn’t have any issues at all (I mean no constipation or colic or anything at all) and co-sleeping worked. So we co-slept.

NotEnoughTime · 12/07/2019 10:37

I remember doing this for both my DC when they were babies.

Flowers for you-it is exhausting I know but it doesn't last forever.

By the way I keep thinking about your question on antibiotics. it's this - erythromycin. adc.bmj.com/content/102/Suppl_2/A127.2
