To keep a £10 note found on the pavement?

So my husband found a £10 on the pavement on his way to pick up our son from school today. He said he saw the £10 note on the ground but nobody else was around so he didn't see anyone drop it.

He was really happy about it but I kept thinking what if the person who dropped it really needed it to feed their family or something? We're by no means rich but don't have to worry about paying bills or buying food etc.

Realistically there wasn't much he could've done if he didn't see the person who dropped it. If you saw a £10 on the ground, would you pick it up and keep it? (And spend it?) Would you feel bad about it?

I am pretty sure it’s illegal .. esp if there are cameras around .. did a lady not get prosecuted for something like this a few years ago??
But hey ho it’s up to whoever/whomever picks it up as to what to do about/with it

I'm pretty sure it was a lottery ticket.

OP people will come on this thread and say all sorts of crap. Reality is, if there's nobody about then people will pick it up and keep it. They might say they'll stick it in a charity box or some other bollocks but they wouldn't.

Actually, that's exactly what happened to me last week! £10 just lying there on the grass by the pavement. I've looked around for a possible owner but there was literally nobody around. So yes, I've kept it.

Walking my dogs and found a fiver. It was the middle of the woods. No one around even though I stood there awhile debating with myself what to do. In the end took it home and gave it to my son who took to school and gave to his friend who didn't have money for lunch. I'll be honest it felt weird just pocketing it though so I was glad my son helped his friend out with it.

I dont believe all this angst and guilt over 10 pound for a second. Anyone would keep it.

I lost a £10 note whilst walking the dog, those new ones are so bloody springy they bounce out your pockets 😆 I just hope whoever found it put it to good use 👍

That's the most irritating thing about the new money. Open your bag and they spring for freedom. You can't just keep them in a pocket anymore.

I found £10 last week whilst walking through the park, no-one was around, of course I kept it!

Meh, I'd keep a tender and not give it a second thought.

My moral conscience exists at a far higher level apparently...
