AIBU to ask what slightly odd things your neighbours do?

I'll go first. I moved to a new house a few months ago and my new neighbours obviously hate the fact my cat craps in their garden (understandable!) They pick the poop up and either hang it on my gatepost or on top of my wheelie bin. I totally understand they don't want cat crap in their garden, and my sister's neighbour just flings it over their fence so at least my neighbour is more courteous but....why on my gate (half a foot from my bin) or on top of the bin? Just open the lid and put it in the bin, surely?! I would dearly love if my cats would crap solely in my own garden but sadly I cannot train that!

Anybody else want to volunteer their neighbour's slightly odd behaviours?

OP posts:

My lovely neighbour seems to make phone calls in her garden. Which is odd because, apart from actual gardening, she doesn't really sit out in it.

UserAlice · 06/07/2019 09:14

My neighbours on both sides both installed washing lines when we all moved in (new build estate) but they have NEVER used them. I use mine all the time and I do sometimes wonder if they think I’m the strange one Grin

IDontDrinkTea · 06/07/2019 09:16

My ndn’s child (maybe about 8 years old) used to stand in front of my kitchen window and just stare in. No smile or anything, completely straighten faced. It was quite creepy. We have privacy glass now

Ponoka7 · 06/07/2019 09:19

Minkies11, could he have a fear of spiders or woodlice and that's why he screams? I don't mind any insect crawling over me, except woodlice.

flamingjune123, there's a whole load of conditions were a person feels they need to stick to a routine. They don't deserve insults.

purplecorkheart · 06/07/2019 09:19

Mine wash and hoover the car everytime they use it. Even of they only go and buy a newspaper.

StoppinBy · 06/07/2019 09:20

It's not odd behaviour, they are clearly telling you it is your problem and not theirs to deal with. You need to talk to them.

EatingBreadAndHoney · 06/07/2019 09:21

My neighbours get their friends round for a curry, and everyone orders a curry dish and then you only eat that curry dish that you ordered - no sharing. Mind blown

That's perfectly normal! If I order a lamb jalfrezi, it's because I want to eat a lamb jalfrezi and not a melange of other curries!

Re: cat poo, ok maybe not every cat buries their poo well, I was generalising based on my cats all of which seemed to love to bury theirs deep!

Isn't that normal? I want want I ordered, don't want everyone else having a bit, get your own Grin

I think the curry post is a Gavin and Stacey reference

My new neighbours eat on their patio every single-meal .. whatever the weather.
They also take and make Skype phone calls every bloody evening again on the patio.
They have not located their own voice volume control buttons and it seems stuck on loud and high pitched.
They have friends round every weekend and proceed to get really drunk really fast and extremely loud. Then they Skype Mates that couldn't make it .. again on the freaking patio...

Apart from that they seem nice Hmm

MrsGaryLightbody · 06/07/2019 09:25

Or maybe I'm a miserable old bag Smile

1wokeuplikethis · 06/07/2019 09:30

My old neighbours had a cat flap put in their front window double glazing. Not in the door, in the window, with a table underneath it adorned with a Christmas themed mat for the cat to wipe its paws on before (supposedly) coming inside straight on to their sofa.

Another neighbour had an intricate cat maze running down from the first floor window. Tunnels and slides constructed from drain piping and chicken wire leading to an enormous enclosed cat run in the front garden/drive. Absolute eyesore.

People love their cats.

WatchingFromTheWings · 06/07/2019 09:33

One uses coat hangers to hang their washing on the line. Suppose it makes sense but it just looks strange

I do this! If it's an item I don't want to/can't iron. Some fabrics, once the peg marks are in you can't get them out.

Yes and they're often control freaks. Last time I heard this is a forum for opinions and experiences. This is my opinion and experience. I was answering the OP

regmover · 06/07/2019 09:36

Cat mazes are brilliant! And cat runs stop cats getting run over, stolen or shitting in other people's gardens. Cat owners just can't win.

YouveCatToBeKittenMe · 06/07/2019 09:38

Calls and whistles for her cat at 2:15am
Does she not get that it’s warm and people are sleeping with their windows open? Angry

nancy75 · 06/07/2019 09:41

Performance shagging with all the windows open!

BullBullBull · 06/07/2019 09:43

Washes his 3 cars everyday. One time I saw him wash them in the dark using the light from his garage.

MaMisled · 06/07/2019 09:50

Neighbour of one year, terraced houses, is an accomplished musician and practiced every evening. Six months ago i complimented him on his talent and how, as i work nights and sleep from around 11 to 4pm, his practising time suited me! Since that conversation he plays from 12 til 4 most days!

maddiemookins16mum · 06/07/2019 09:53

I actually hang my work trousers and cardigans straight onto hangers and put them on the line like that. I don’t iron them and they keep their shape better (plus no peg marks) 😳😳

maddiemookins16mum · 06/07/2019 09:56

Plus I always did it with DD’s school dresses as they were the type that needed ironing (why the school didn’t have the usual supermarket check ones I don’t know!!). Putting them on hangers saved ironing them.

LakieLady · 06/07/2019 10:00

I actually hang my work trousers and cardigans straight onto hangers and put them on the line like that.

I have tried this, but the wind always blows the hangers off the line, even when I've pegged the hanger to the line.

Have you, and the PP who does this, found a way of securing the hangers? Please share if you have!

Of course, you may just have a garden that is more sheltered.

QuestionableMouse · 06/07/2019 10:01

My washing goes out in the front garden. I only have a small yard out the back so no room.

One of my neighbours is fanatical about his car. It gets practically taken apart once a week while he cleans it. I'm talking cotton buds to clean things level of cleaning.

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 06/07/2019 10:01

Mine leave their on washing on the line for days and days. I counted the last time (I am that sad) and it was out for 10 days. I even saw her come out one day, take just one t-shirt off the line and leave the rest, she then walked past wearing it. So odd. Just take your washing in!

Cue my neighbour coming on “totheletter seems obsessed with my washing and loudly comments to her DD how long my washing has been on the line. AIBU to strangle her with said line?”

Boysey45 · 06/07/2019 10:03

Saying bye around 100 times to relatives loudly in the drive.I just shut the window as it grates on me.
