Manager worried I am struggling with spending more time away from child

Following a promotion, my manager has approached his manager to pass on his concerns around me. He is worried I am struggling due to increase in hours and spending time away from my daughter.

Please tell me I am not mental for being absolutely raging about this?

Would he say the same about a man?
Can't possibly say without more information. I' m a line manager and I've previously spoken to my manager about being concerned that a person I managed was not coping after the breakdown of a relationship. I'm female, the person I spoke about was male, and I knew he wasn't coping because we'd had several conversations about it and he was clearly distracted at work and the quality of his work was suffering. My conversation with my manager was to talk about what additional support we might be able to offer. Hardly unacceptable!

But, had the genders been reversed, the person I managed could have posted something very similar to the OP.

@BambooTwo are you going to give us more info?

I don't think it's the op who was promoted. I think it's her current manager who presumably was a colleague

The ‘concern’ is just so bizarre that it feels like there must be more to this than the manager just being your garden variety troglodyte knuckle dragger.

What is the background?

Are you able to clarify, op
