Four massive, angry bites on my upper back, and they are driving me MAD. I always react badly to bites anyway and these are really evil. Calamine lotion, antihistamine ointment and antihistamine tablets doing nothing. The itching and burning is in a 4 inch patch around each bite!

If you know of any unguent/folk remedy/anything that will make it stop, please share!

Giving it a blast with a hot hairdryer helped

(same principal as the hot teaspoon but I found this easier as I had lots of bites all over)

Speaking from experience, re the hot teaspoon- if you put it in boiling water, for Christ's sake make sure you wave it about a bit to cool it off a bit before putting it on any bites. I'm not sure if it was the hopping about swearing like a docker after I'd given myself what felt like a third degree burn, or the actual bloody hot teaspoon on my ankle, but it worked!

Anthisan cream works for me, as well as some of the folksy remedies. I got a sting on the arch of my foot walking barefoot on the grass, that was so irritating.

A family called the Thompson's moved to widdershins crescent (or close) in a book called farewell to the jungle, I remember reading a couple of books about them as a kid

Boots sell those yellow clicker things that give a little electric shock, use it when you get bitten - really works
