to disagree with friend about buying tablets online?

A friend is fed up with the GP and has ordered some tablets online a few times and they check out as safe. The website is verified. I think she should go to another GP but she feels happy doing this. Any advice? HAs anyone ordered from such a site before?

It's interesting the message it conveys that people (like me) are risking buying medication online because I cannot afford to miss work in order to go to the GP. Sad

MissConductUS you can't buy melatonin over the counter in the UK, and doctors either won't prescribe it or are reluctant to do so.

I find it worrying that people are putting themselves at risk buying drugs online because the NHS is so strecthed that they can't see a doctor and get a prescription when they need it.

I won't buy drugs online because I think it is too risky. For example, are the women buying the cotraceptive pill online checking their blood pressure?

I've just bought my HRT privately, online, having heard there's a shortage. My online request to my GP has not had a response.

I buy acyclovir online semi regular. If I get a cold sore outbreak it tends to hit so badly I get 6/7 at a time and I can’t open my mouth without pain.

It used to be that I would feel it starting, phone the dr, leave a message and 9/10 they’d phone and say “we’ve left you a prescription at reception”. Every so many times they’d say “you need to see the dr”

Now you phone and leave a message and they get back to you 2/3 days later (by which points it’s totally erupted) and the last time they refused to do anything over the phone and offered me an appointment in 3 weeks.

Whereas I buy them online which means I can start them as soon as I feel it. Then just replace them for next time. Currently trying them every day for 6 months to break the cycle on the advice on my practise nurse who mentioned it to me as an option at a school play.

I just bought some piriton from a registered online pharmacy. Here at the chemist its nearly £7 for 60 tablets. At the online one it cost me £13 (incl p&p) for 500 tablets! I checked they are registered and all checked out ok. I also keep a stock in of thrush medication and cream bought from the same place. So much cheaper.

I've bought thyroxine in the past. I'm prescribed it but the doctor pisses about with 28 day prescriptions and it's useful to have a backup in case of holidays/prescription delays
