Can someone please explain the nursery assessment scores and chart?

I feel completely stupid and confused.
It's like I don't know what I'm looking at and I feel like I should.

Got DCs nursery assessment before they move up to reception in September. There's comments from the key worker about how they are getting on and also a chart with scores but I can't for the life of me figure out what it stands for!

The symbols at the top with sub columns underneath are

  • PSED (sub: MR, MFB, SC+something I can't work out),
  • CL (LA, U, S)
  • CAD (BI(or1?) and something starting with EU)
  • M (N, SSM)
  • UTW ( TW, T, PC)
  • L (R, W, N)

Then under them are individual columns with scores each.

I'm not sure if I got every sub under the right title as they are written extremely small and quite close together.
Also colours on the columns are Green, dark green, orange and red. Which I'm assuming is how well DC is doing in that particular area?

I feel like I should know these but I don't !

Can anyone shine a bit of light on this? It would be very appreciated?

Your child's nursery should not be using acronyms like this without a key to explain them, it's very bad practice. You really need to ask them to explain the report properly, don't feel bad about it either. Hopefully it will make them rethink the way they share information

Thank you I'm still trying to decipher it!

There's another I missed out by accident

PD ( MH & H+SC)

Also each column has 5 rows and each row has a different letter too

Rows are
LM, AO, SR, JM, AB

The only key added is explanation of colours ie green = typical

Which is all good and well when you don't know what you're looking at Blush

Wow how annoying! It’s very lazy and poor practice to send the information out in that way! You do need to feed back to them on this.
PD is physical development.
Google the EYFS areas of learning and that should help you decipher.

Beebeezed · 03/07/2019 12:37

PD ( MH & H+SC)

Physical development - moving and handling, health and self care

sadkoala · 03/07/2019 17:09

Hopeful bump as still haven't figured out what the rows stand for

LM, AO, SR, JM, AB

Each row has a score in each column.

I reckon those five sets of initials are for the different children(!)

I might be wrong though.

Itstheprinciple · 03/07/2019 19:36

They could be initials - maybe staff initials of key workers who have assessed him?

wonderingsoul · 03/07/2019 19:36

As the OP above put they are groups.

So for pd-m+h (physically. - moving and handling) then there ages groups so they'll put what he is currently working at.

I'm guessing they use colour to say if hes working at expected behind or in front.

What are the colour codes?

wonderingsoul · 03/07/2019 19:37

Theres little sub groups with in categories

Ohrobin · 03/07/2019 19:38

What are the score numbers?

Yesisaidthat · 03/07/2019 19:39

And someone who works in the early years sector even I have no idea LM AO SR JM AB are. Are any of them your child’s initials or initials of the staff that work there?

The top row is areas of the EYFS Development matters which is the non statutory guidance all nurseries use.

Nodancingshoes · 03/07/2019 19:45

I'm a nursery manager and I have no idea what lm, ao, sr etc....mean 😂 take it back in and ask for a full explanation

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 03/07/2019 19:46

I reckon those five sets of initials are for the different children(!)

That was my first thought. Do any of those happen to be your DC’s initials, OP?

wonderingsoul · 03/07/2019 19:51

They could be some form of tracker?
On arrival. First review. Etc?

sadkoala · 03/07/2019 20:05

No they are not my child's initials. Maybe they are staff initials? But they all show different scores along the lines ...

Could it be when the assesments were done ? There seems to be multiple scores for the same sub category...

PurpleSproutingSomething · 03/07/2019 20:08

Do the scores correspond with these?
