I feel completely stupid and confused.
It's like I don't know what I'm looking at and I feel like I should.

Got DCs nursery assessment before they move up to reception in September. There's comments from the key worker about how they are getting on and also a chart with scores but I can't for the life of me figure out what it stands for!

The symbols at the top with sub columns underneath are

  • PSED (sub: MR, MFB, SC+something I can't work out),
  • CL (LA, U, S)
  • CAD (BI(or1?) and something starting with EU)
  • M (N, SSM)
  • UTW ( TW, T, PC)
  • L (R, W, N)

Then under them are individual columns with scores each.

I'm not sure if I got every sub under the right title as they are written extremely small and quite close together.
Also colours on the columns are Green, dark green, orange and red. Which I'm assuming is how well DC is doing in that particular area?

I feel like I should know these but I don't !

Can anyone shine a bit of light on this? It would be very appreciated?

I'm also in nursery management, and the last set of initials (lm, ao etc) mean nothing to me either.
What are the scores? Are they numbers? It seems rather complicated.

What a crap report!

sadkoala · 03/07/2019 20:22

Scores are like @PurpleSproutingSomething posted.

Also colour coded red, orange, green and dark green.
There's a key with red obviously meaning needs improvement or below average and dark green being above average.

So the scores relate to areas of the EYFS document and the presumed age of the child. So all children leaving Reception would hopefully reach ELG (early learning goals) [They don't all] some will achieve ELG in some areas, and not others.
So i'd be expecting most nursery children to be getting 30-50 and 40-60.

This is really bugging me lol.

I think they are progress reports for each term. And ao is at arrival as we have that on our reviews then 2nd review 3rd etch

I cant work out what it's short for though

Those numbers are age bands in months. They overlap because all children develop at different rates.
So if your dc is off to school, they will typically be in the 30-50 or 40-60 age band. ELG (early learning goal) is typically reached by children by the end of year R.

They are not scores as such

But ages.

Each age rang will have goals to achieve before moving up to the next age range.

So a two year would typically be working at 22-36 months in most areas.

Why isn’t that aa?!
