Today I stopped at a petrol station and wanted to put £30 of fuel in the car but it blipped over to £30.10. When I went to pay I also bought two lottery tickets for £5 so paid £35.10. As I was putting the tickets in my purse I found two old lottery tickets so got them checked. First one won £30 and the second £5.10!

So, can I ask for your stories of coincidences?

Several years ago I sat on appeals panels for two different schools. Out of 30 or so appeals for each, we allowed one for each school for completely different reasons. Both kids had the same name, not a common name either.

When I was young, a schoolfriend’s Gran was seriously ill and in hospital. Her Mum was talking to my mum and commented that she didn’t know what she would do if her mum (the gran) died, she loved her so much that she didn’t want to have to live without her, she simply didn’t know how she could do it.

The gran died a couple of weeks later, the mum was with her. Minutes after gran died, the mum had an aneurysm and died at the bedside.

Not long after I split with exh, just me and teen DS at home, skint. DS had a GF, her birthday is coming up. She loves giant teddy bears (we're talking 5ft + and £££s) and he says he really wants to get her one, obviously it's beyond us both financially. One appears on local forum for £50, a beautiful white one and as new.
Still way too much money but they reduce it to £25 and I show him. Begs me so I buy it, hilarious journey home with it strapped in the passenger seat of my car and everyone doing double takes! Get indoors and there's a letter on the mat. Premium Bond prize for £25.
Still have photo somewhere, I'll see if I can dig it out.

I almost wish we'd kept it, we both were entertained by it and the gf is long gone.

I have a few I can remember right now.

I started expressing milk a few months ago. My DH, whenever I say the word 'express' starts singing some old song (70s? 80s?) with the words "S...Express" in it. I hadn't heard of it ever. Well, we were in the car about a month ago and just as we got in the radio came on and we heard "S...Express". They were playing the song. Not only is the first time I've heard it on the radio soon after DH mentioned it to me, but had we got in the car a minute or two later we'd have missed it completely.

About 6 years ago I lived near Bermondsey and decided on the spur-of-the-moment to go into London to do some window shopping. I decided to take a random route through some back streets just off Oxford Street to go from a certain shop to another, a way I hadn't gone before. On my journey I bumped into one of my cousins, we hadn't seen each other in a year or more. He was working just round the corner, unknownst to me, just happened to be working that Saturday, had just happened to be returning to the office from an errand at that time and just happened to decide to take a short cut.

My best one though is when, as a teacher, I was buying a few books for our Great Fire of London topic from Amazon. The total, including p&p came to £16.66!

Me and my sister had our babies due dates 4 weeks apart. My son was 2 weeks late and hers 2 weeks early and we unknowingly at the time gave birth within an hour of each other ... her baby 1.02 am and ours 2.02am our partners bumped in to each other outside the maternity ward trying to contact mine and my sisters mum to let her know her new grandsons were here! The hospital has more than one maternity ward so we via text arranged to meet up in the day room later in the day. We wheeled our baby boys in the cot trolley things and we had both dressed the boys identical and in totally random outfits not just a plain babygrow. and as neither of us had known what we were having, names had not been discussed but the 2 names we had chosen at random with no family links etc were the same but the other way around so eg my son is joshua james and hers is james joshua. The boys birth weights were also identical! We call them our little cousin twins. The amount of times we met up and had dressed them the same in the early days was just weird! But am sure all just a coincidence Wink

S'express is a brilliant tune....

I've been with my DP for 5 years. The number plate of the car I have had for 7 years is the first two letters of his first name then initials of his middle name and surname. The PIN I've had for 25 years is the year of his birth.

I was visiting my Dad in Kent, I made the journey by train . My Dad told me on the day to go to Rochester instead of Chatham. When I got off the train a taxi pulled up outside and my cousin got out .. I hadn't seen her for 5 years and she was catching the train somewhere!!

My current partner who I got together with 4 years ago visited the railway museum in York the same day, same month same year as me when we were both children. We even have a photo of ourselves standing in front of the same train...

I had my first baby last August. He was born on 08/08/18 at 08:08am and my birthday is 18/08/88 and I weighed 8lbs. The number eight has always been my favourite/lucky number. I guess I now know why!

Jambalaya76 · 06/07/2019 17:50

My best friends husband left his wallet at our house one day. I opened it to See who's it was. inside the wallet in the photo part was a photo of him and my best friend at a nightclub many years earlier. In the background though was my next door neighbour dancing! They don't know each other!!

GriseldaChop · 06/07/2019 17:58

We adopted our son and the registrar on his original birth certificate has the same initials and surname as both me and my husband. Makes it feel like it was always meant to be. Smile

Bozlem80 · 06/07/2019 18:06

There are 11 yrs between my mum & her youngest brother then the same between him & myself, myself & his daughter, his daughter & my son, my son & my niece, my youngest daughter & my granddaughter!

My older kids are born March, April & May & my youngest December but the first 3 add up to 12!

jacqknife · 06/07/2019 18:32

On the day my husband died (we'd been separated for years), our 2 daughters and our friend were dashing to the hospital to see him - not knowing he had just died. Whilst they were on their way, our friend's boss rang to say that he couldn't get through to him (friend had given him my number for emergencies). I asked for his name and said I would pass a message on. He told me, and both his first and last names were identical to my husband's who had passed away 10 minutes earlier. I was very seriously spooked!

FoodologistGirl · 06/07/2019 18:36

So mine is a birthday one. I have a twin so of course we have the same birthday. But its also my dads birthday (we tell him were his gift) then his first grandchild was born on the same day by my other sister. And my grandmother from my mothers side was also the same day. So 4 generation on the same day.

LinziandTyler · 06/07/2019 18:46

My late grandma always said when she died she would come back as a butterfly. On the 20th November 2010 I got married the night before our wedding we were at the venue setting up and flying about was a butterfly which I didn’t think much about then on our wedding day we were sitting having our meal and the butterfly landed on my dress stayed their for a good few minutes family were taking pics and crying saying it’s your grandma hear on your wedding day. Also the 20th November was my grandmas birthday it wasn’t until after we booked our wedding we realised this.

Then in 2017 I was due to give birth to our first child after several miscarriage I was taken in on the 18th July to be induced the first lot failed on the Friday they started the process again by the early hours of Monday 24th I was taken through to the labour wars and the following morning on the 25th July I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. That night my dad came in to see his grandson and his partner turned round and said your grandma has kept you waiting hasn’t she I didn’t know what she meant turns out our son was born on the day my grandma died.

ALemonyPea · 06/07/2019 18:55

I've never shared this with anyone, but I've had a drink and feeling nostalgic.

My DFIL died while I was pregnant with DS3. I had a c section and the surgeon was playing music. The moment DS3 was lifted out of me, DFILs favourite song was playing. DH still talks about that moment 11 years later and insists his dad was with us at that moment.

GrowingUpIsATrap · 06/07/2019 19:07

I went to watch a concert in Paris (I'm from the UK). I was standing in the crowd and got chatting to a French lady.... Who used to teach at my secondary school.... And worked there when I attended.... And knew someone I knew from home.
Very strange!

DoAllMeerkatsComeFromRussia · 06/07/2019 19:10

Both my DH and I had sisters who owned greengrocer's shops and who we both worked for as our first Saturday jobs as young teenagers. Both our dads owned accordions. In my 46 years I have known no-one else that has owned either a greengrocers or an accordion!

skimask · 06/07/2019 19:17

I am originally from down south and went to my primary school there, then moved to Wales and went to secondary school there. Last week I was looking on Instagram and saw a picture of one old friend from down south and one old friend from wales posing together on a night out!! Turns out they went to uni together and have stayed close friends since, and they have the same First middle and last name!! I was staring at my phone like WTF for ages!!

When I was 19 I was working as an au-pair in Geneva. I was in MacDs one day when I thought a girl looked familiar. Took the plunge and talked to her - she was in my class at infant school, also working as an au-pair.
