I thought this was going to be about the state of education, the GRA or BoJo.

This is truly tragic op, though it happens all over the world.

Much as I like Sri Lanka, I’d rather be in the U.K. where we haven’t recruited hangmen recently. It’s a tragedy, undoubtedly but domestic murders aren’t new.

What’s wrong with the country more generally is a culture that allows increasing polarisation of wealth and decimation of support services to prevent losing youngsters from mainstreaming society.

You only have to see the aggressiveness and intolerance on this thread to understand the meaning of the OP.

Its a minority that are violent OP... most people are good people.

Out of the 5 countries I have lived in, I feel least safest in the UK. This is the only place I have lived in where every week at least one person is stabbed to death or a woman is murdered by a man.

When 30+ people were gunned down in Tunisia a few years back, we were told not to go there by our foreign office. Honestly, I think the rest of the world's Foreign Offices should slap us with a "go there at your own risk/ warn against travel to the UK" due to the daily stabbings, women being murdered by men every week, constant terror threat and lack of police. Only when other countries stop sending tourists here and we have egg on our face will the government start taking it seriously.

Something needs to be done and quickly. This isn't going to rectify itself, it is going to get worse.

pallasathena · 30/06/2019 09:44

@Bixter has it

Gingernaut · 30/06/2019 09:49

The killer may or may not be a member of a gang, but lumping all murders together is wrong.

This may have been a 'domestic' murder, but it doesn't seem to have been related to the spate of gang related murders that's sweeping across the country.

In other words, this murder would probably have happened anyway and not as a result of police cuts, gangs or drugs.

The poor, poor woman. 😢

If the 'father' is responsible, I hope he and his relations have no input into the child's upbringing.

And again with the bad taste. Your thread doesn’t go the way you like, so now MNers are part of the UK-wide problem of domestic violence and stabbing? Grow up and engage your brain.

The problem is global, and it’s caused by men. I’m tired of the lengths people will go to to avoid pinpointing and naming male violence for what it is. “Not all men are like that”, “ this is what’s wrong with the U.K.”. No, it’s global, and it’s men. Every fucking time. Name it for what it is.

Please list the other five, I’d like to know where these crime-free paradises are.

OddHoleySocks · 30/06/2019 10:52

Interesting that you say it's a UK problem, when you seem to be banned after a place in the UK that has no such problems.

OddHoleySocks · 30/06/2019 10:52

*named not banned!

YouSayPotatoesISayVodka · 30/06/2019 10:57

From what I read it sounds like it’s maybe a domestic violence murder? Not that it matters. A woman is dead, a baby is fighting for his/her life in hospital and is motherless.

Violence against women is a global problem and as others have said, the risk increases for women who are pregnant.

mindproject · 30/06/2019 13:09

All that is wrong with the UK..... My list would include:

Tories, Boris, Theresa May, Nigel Farage, UKIP, poverty, misogyny, zero hour contracts, low pay, little England, racism, inequality, capitalism, X factor, newspapers, Freemasons, child abuse, Poundland, Sports Direct, knife crime, grime music, scammers, private/grammar school system, Margate, TV licence, smelly buses, extortionate train fares, council tax, booze culture, overpaid footballers/actors/politicians.
