My absolute favourite is DILLIGAF.

I had to google that one Grin

I am loving all the variations of stbexh. Fucking hilarious Grin

I recently read a thread where someone was posting about how her step DF has been more of a DF to her than her real DF, and I wanted to scream, "Just type the word 'dad'! It's one extra letter!"

I do think it's odd that if someone posts about her LO, people will rudely reply, "Ugh, don't use LO, it's cringeworthy." Why is "darling child" any less cringeworthy than "little one"?

Aaarrgghhh · 30/06/2019 19:25

SandyY2K I agree, why call an arsehole “darling?” Baffles me sometimes.

Honeyroar · 30/06/2019 19:36

The only ones that I'd use are the longer ones that are just abbreviations, like STBXH or MIL. I can't stand all the twee DS before things. I always type husband or son..

I find it particularly makes me roll my eyes when some mumsnetters are so scathing to people that write hubby, yet don't realise what they write in the Mumsnet style is probably more twee and silly. But I guess they're happy sheep!

AuntieStella · 30/06/2019 19:53

D is such a useful initial - also stands for Dickbrained, Dratted, Damn, Dogbreath etc

"yet don't realise what they write in the Mumsnet style is probably more twee and silly. But I guess they're happy sheep!"

Yes. Because it's all about being part of the flock community. Shared language really, really matters.

Excoriating other jargon is all part and parcel.

I does make me laugh too!

eurochick · 30/06/2019 22:18

I hate it too. I've been on here years. I don't and won't use the silly appreciations. I will not succumb!

eurochick · 30/06/2019 22:42

Abbreviations. Mumsnet is clearly sabotaging my posts for non-compliance!

ErrolTheDragon · 30/06/2019 22:42

Also people who write Ddog.... that's not even shorter?!!

But you would have to write 'the dog' or 'my dog', you wouldn't just write 'dog' unless you're the antichrist in omens.. so it is marginally shorter.Grin
