To be contemplating throwing something at this kid/his mother?

So, it's Saturday morning. I'm looking after my niece which means taking her to ballet/tap/modern classes.

You know what it's like, but of a rush most of the time and then inexplicably there is always a big waiting time in the middle. The 'lobby' waiting room doesn't have enough chairs and kids flow in and out constantly at the changeover of classes.

There are always a few reluctant siblings hanging around too. Usually getting homework done etc.

Tolerable if not exactly thrilling/luxurious.

BUT this morning a mother has just swanned in with her son (sibling of a dancer) and parked him in the waiting room WITH HIS GUITAR.

The kid's about 7 and Based on his competence and the sound he's making i would estimate has been learning guitar for approximately 30 seconds.

AIBU to want to throw something at him/throw the guitar through the window and scream in the mother's face?

Oh wow! What an ignorant twat she is! Well done Dad and you OP.

Daftapath · 29/06/2019 11:38

Please ensure the Hero Dad is doing the dance run next week too!

soupforbrains · 29/06/2019 11:42

Sorry. Was just buying Hero Dad a coffee.

We have handed in the guitar to the receptionist. She had clearly heard the whole thing but pretended not to have.

Then at the end said "Thank you for, you know..." and nodded towards the break room. 😂

In reply to the how long is this gap ino activities question. Guitar boy had no activities. He was just there while his sister was in class. Most kids have between 2 and 4 half hour classes some of which run back to back and others have a half hour to kill in between. Obviously for the parents, there are no actual activities so I'm in the waiting/break room the whole time.

I feel so bad for the teenage DD. I'm imagining the mum like Toni Collette in About A Boy which makes exploding dad Hugh Grant. They'll all be having dinner together come Christmas.

Have you logged it with 101? Grin

Well done to you and the super star dad. Star

Why on earth did she throw in the, "you're being racist" line?

DilliDingDillyDong · 29/06/2019 12:32

My arse!

BraveGoldie · 29/06/2019 12:33

Are you and hero man single? How is the coffee going? This could be the start of a great romance story! SmileWink

SkintAsASkintThing · 29/06/2019 12:35

I see you guitar.......and raise you 3 kids and one smug dad nodding away with recorders on the bus.

Oh yes. No jury would convict.

IggyAce · 29/06/2019 12:35

Fantastic OP, hopefully the mother will think twice about what’s appropriate. But probably not.

Cherrysoup · 29/06/2019 12:49

Hero dad needs a medal, as do you! Bloody well done! I wouldn't have lasted more than 3 minutes or so.

I was once on a rail bus replacementin London people were stressed got and angry and a man pulled out a guitar. Before the thing was even played three people told him the y would make him eat it if he dared play it

Clutterbugsmum · 29/06/2019 13:31

ConcreteUnderpants

No just a self entitled mum who thinks everyone should think her kids are the best children ever.

The mum knew full well that they were annoying everyone else in the room and she didn't care. Well unfortunately they suffered the consequences for being a pain the arse.

WomanLikeMeLM · 29/06/2019 13:33

Poor kid, how nice a grown man bullying a child Hmm

GreenTulips · 29/06/2019 13:33

Love it!

Nice to see some people standing up for each other

How were the others reactions?
