To expect my oh to brush his teeth once a day ?

Just been charging the electric toothbrushes. What i thought was OH's turns out it was my old one. When i asked where his was he said in his bag in the bedroom.. its been there since he was in hospital 2 MONTHS ago!

Honestly shocked. My teeth brushing habits are not perfect, sometimes I forget to brush at night but always in the morning.

He's currently sulking for saying to him about it

Has he been using your toothbrush? Yuck! Oral hygiene is so important. Even my teenagers know to brush twice daily and floss every week too.

Sexnotgender · 27/06/2019 21:22

So has he not brushed his teeth in 2 months?

ASauvignonADay · 27/06/2019 21:23

Sounds like he's been using yours!

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 27/06/2019 21:23

I expect my OH to brush his teeth twice a day. In fact I expect the same from my 3 year old but obviously with supervision.

bringincrazyback · 27/06/2019 21:24

Has he literally not brushed in all that time?! That's grim.

I can sympathise as I have an ongoing problem with my DH only brushing in the mornings and consequently having bad breath at bedtime (and even worse breath the next morning pre-brushing), but I can't imagine how someone's breath would be if they went 2 months, to say nothing of the effect on their teeth.

Prisonbreak · 27/06/2019 21:25

The thought of only once a day is disgusting to me.

Baggyvag101 · 27/06/2019 21:28

Nope. Not been using mine, i checked.

I’m confused! Has he been using your toothbrush? Or has he not brushed his teeth for two months?!

But to answer your AIBU no YANBU!!

However, I must ask, how is his mental health? It’s certainly quite common to neglect personal hygiene when suffering from depression and low moods. Certainly when I’ve been in very low MH periods and basically housebound, I have forgotten to brush my teeth for days at a time.

littlepeaegg · 27/06/2019 21:29

I am sorry, but that is so gross and unhygienic. What are his teeth like? Doesn't his breath stink?

Baggyvag101 · 27/06/2019 21:31

His breath isnt bad, which is why I guess I have never noticed.

He goes on at me for nagging, yet he doesn't seem responsible enough to remember to brush his own teeth.

Theres also unopened manual toothbrushes there, so it would be easy enough to do even if he thought he had lost it.

Beebeezed · 27/06/2019 21:31

Please confirm or deny if he has brushed his teeth in the last two months?!?

MamaWeasel · 27/06/2019 21:32

Yabu for only expecting him to clean them once a day..... Twice surely??

Popc0rn · 27/06/2019 21:33

Grim grim grim.

Though I'm a nurse and weirdly a lot of people don't seem to brush their teeth while they're in hospital Confused.

Have you not noticed his smelly breath in two months?!

Baggyvag101 · 27/06/2019 21:33

I think he worries about waking us up in the morning so will do everything to be quiet.

When i said to him.he rolled his eyes ffs. I then reminded him he just had £100 worth of fillings done. Hes gona end up with false teeth at this rate.

PookieDo · 27/06/2019 21:34

I have to tell my 14yo to brush her teeth every bloody night or she won’t. But I wouldn’t expect to be doing it for a grown man!

Whathappenedtooursummer · 27/06/2019 21:34

I hope you haven't had sex with him for that time either.... Bloody grim.

AuntieMarys · 27/06/2019 21:34

I have no words.

cliffdiver · 27/06/2019 21:34

2 months is beyond grim.

I also don't understand how you could sometimes 'forget to brush at night'.

ElizaPancakes · 27/06/2019 21:35

He can’t possibly have not brushed his teeth at all in that time surely? Unless you have mouthwash and he’s just been swilling his mouth out.

Either way he’s an idiot and you’re right.

Baggyvag101 · 27/06/2019 21:37

Yes we have had sex :(. Grim indeed.

We tend to stay up late at night and i can fall asleep on the couch so usually those nights I forget as im straight to bed.

Throckmorton · 27/06/2019 21:40

Maybe point out to him the links between poor oral hygiene and serious heart disease?

Lemonlady22 · 27/06/2019 21:45

Lou.....is this you?...LTB !

Beebeezed · 27/06/2019 21:47

Wait, could he not have been using your old one?

Aquamarine1029 · 27/06/2019 21:48

That's disgusting.

RelaisBlu · 27/06/2019 21:50

2 months?? I find that really hard to believe - I literally wouldn't be able to fall asleep if I hadn't brushed & flossed my teeth and it's the very first thing I do in the morning too....
