To ask if these shoes go with this dress for a wedding

Vilanelle · 27/06/2019 10:07

I have posted in Chat but got no responses.

If you don't like the shoes or the dress, please try to remember that this isn't the question I am asking :) (as per previous question about a jacket lol)

Thank you for taking the time to help!

Vote YABU for no they do not go
YANBU for " yes they go!"

I would match with a white bag.

I am not a girly girl at all and don't own any dresses really and don't have much money or time to find another pair of shoes :(

I think they look absolutely fine 🤷‍♀️

Some white accessories (bag, jewellery, or whatever) and some pink/purple nail varnish on your toes would tie it all together.

I think people pay far less attention to other other peoples' shoes than you'd think anyway. Don't waste your money buying new shoes when those ones are fine.

BossAssBitch · 27/06/2019 10:53

They are not ideal (obviously 'ideal' would be in a pink or a light blue in the flowers on the dress, but not everybody has the time or the money to find / pay for such things)... I think they will be fine. Don't go for a white handbag though if you can help it. Matchy looks dated.

ChihuahuaMummy1 · 27/06/2019 10:55

No they dont go.sorry!

Cornball · 27/06/2019 10:57

Well from what you can see opinion is divided but the majority go with "they go together". Fashion is subjective and its just an opinion not fact! They're the shoes you have, many think they go, so wear them! You'll never please everybody 😊

Fwiw I think they definitely do go

GreyhoundzRool · 27/06/2019 10:58

Yes I think they are fine together 😊

WhoKnewBeefStew · 27/06/2019 11:00

I think they are too white for an essentially dark dress

TixieLix · 27/06/2019 11:03

Can you put them on with the dress and post a photo without your head (for privacy) so we can see the full effect? I'm loving the dress fabric by the way! The shoes themselves are very nice too, I'm just not sure if they go.

PutyourtoponTrevor · 27/06/2019 11:03

The white looks too harsh, I'd either pick one of the stronger colours or just go with black bag and shoes...or navy if it's navy

Vilanelle · 27/06/2019 11:07

what colour bag?

Vilanelle · 27/06/2019 11:07

I will do a pic after work

I voted YANBU, they are both lovely, they go absolutely fine, I like contrasting shoes. If money is tight, why waste it buying something else for just a few hours? If it's a maxi dress you won't really see them anyway. and probably most importantly, no-one will care, all eyes will be on the bride, not on your shoes. Go, enjoy yourself, you will look smashing!

HiJenny35 · 27/06/2019 11:18

The dress has white in it, they are plain white non offensive shoes, they are fine and may actually make the dress appear more suitable for summer than a dark shoe. You'll look lovely. I went to a wedding last week, couldn't tell you what one other person was wearing other than the bride, bridesmaids, my family and the groom so honestly no one will pay that much attention but yes they will look nice.

Vilanelle · 27/06/2019 11:24

Thank you everyone, you have made me feel better. Can I ask what colour bag I would need to get, white?

OP posts:
CassandraCross · 27/06/2019 11:28

No, in my opinion, they don't go. They would detract from what looks like a very nice and elegant dress, it's too much of a contrast and a white bag as well would further cheapen the overall look. As a pp said the white is far too harsh.

The dress has some lovely colours in it, it would look fabulous if you could pick one of those colours to highlight with your shoes and/or bag. Your bag and shoes don't need to be the same, you could go with shoes the base colour of the dress and a bag that picks out one of the colours of the dress.

MyFuzzyBoy · 27/06/2019 11:31

Not an ideal combination, but they don’t massively stand out as being a mismatch. Are the shoes comfortable? That would be a winner for me.

InsertFunnyUsername · 27/06/2019 11:34

As a PP said the last wedding/event attended i couldn't tell you what ordinary shoes people were wearing. By that i mean i only remember the really offensive ones looks at cousin in her bright pink spikey shoes or the ones that caught my eye, my young niece wore platform sparkly type heels and really suited her - Yeah other than that i couldn't tell you.

So stop panicking and enjoy yourself Smile

HippyTrails · 27/06/2019 11:35

I know it's not the question but I love them both & think they do go together

Piffle11 · 27/06/2019 11:38

I wouldn't match the bag to the shoes - that's something that my DM would have insisted on years ago, but is no longer 'necessary'! The shoes are fine - if you were buying new I would have said to try and get a pink or green to match the floral bit, but the ones you have are good. We are our own worst critics: I doubt anyone will be looking at you and thinking, oh Vilanelle's shoes are all wrong. Like another poster suggested - if you're getting a new bag, try and get one of the colours from the floral bit. You will look lovely.

Vilanelle · 27/06/2019 11:41

As ironic as this may sound because of my original question, I am a strong believer in matching shoes and bag. I worry a teal coloured bag (or the like) would make the shoes stand out even more and make it all mismatched

BustedDreams · 27/06/2019 11:44

Neutral shoes or even navy (if that’s the background colour of the dress)

ElephantUmbrella · 27/06/2019 11:46

I think they're fine!
Unless you're the bride I don't think anyone but you will even notice your shoes or your bag .. just be comfy and don't worry about it honestly! Smile

BiscuitDrama · 27/06/2019 11:48

They are absolutely fine. You will look lovely. They’ll be broken up by your foot colouring.

Happynow001 · 27/06/2019 11:53

I think they'll be fine, especially as the shoes will be peeping out from under a longish dress. As a PP said it's very likely people won't notice anyway except if you were wearing something really "out there". Of more concern to me is comfort as that would affect you all day.

I'd also NOT get a white bag to match as that really is (IMO) passé. I would get something to pick out the blue or pink in the dress fabric (which looks lovely) - and maybe hat/fascinator if you are going to wear one.

I hope you have a great day!

Vilanelle · 27/06/2019 12:07

I have ordered a teal clutch instead of white

OP posts:
ThatCurlyGirl · 27/06/2019 12:07

Teal clutch sounds perfect Smile
