This totally acceptable for a baby boy?

DS is nearly 6 months. I pick most of his clothes but DP likes to have a say too...

We like lots of different styles, agree on most clothes. But recently bought this from M&S as thought it looked cute for summer holidays, but DP refuses to put him in it. Says it's too frilly.

Surely not.

Thoughts?

I would have dressed a girl or a boy in this, I can't see anything remotely 'girly' about it, and if I was looking at a baby wearing it I wouldn't assume that baby was a girl.

herculepoirot2 · 22/06/2019 17:20

There is no right or wrong answer. It is a more traditionally “girly” outfit. The only question is how much you care.

ooohsummer · 22/06/2019 17:21

Haha thanks for the feedback...

I'm no closer to knowing whether to dress him in it but at least I've had a good laugh! Grin

It’s fine for any baby.

ooohsummer · 22/06/2019 17:42

Oh, we are not Spanish! But do love Zara haha.

DP is fine with a pink/coral striped all in one from H&M, he regularly wears pink shirts himself so can't really say anything 🤷‍♀️

Seems it's the offending FRILL that is causing the problem.

I should also add I bought this too. Seems light and loose good for holidays - DP is fine with this.

I should add I do not work for M&S.

I have issues with it, bit only that a 6 month old in cream is a nightmare in the waiting.

ColaFreezePop · 22/06/2019 17:50

I wouldn't put my DD in it because it wouldn't stay clean.

It's fine for any baby if you are happy for random stains.

Wait until your son wants to wear unicorn t-shirts. Grin

JuniperNarni · 22/06/2019 17:59

I like it. There is really no issue either DD regularly wears unisex things that might be seen as more "boyish", when passers by say "Aww, he is cute" I just say thanks and then carry on with my day.

SerenDippitty · 22/06/2019 18:10

the odd floral romper!

If grown men can wear floral shirts and frilly dress shirts then I really don’t see why a baby boy can’t wear a romper with a tiny frill on it.

lifesnotaspectatorsport · 22/06/2019 18:13

I'd dress a baby boy in that. Your DP can choose DS's clothes on the days he dresses him, fair's fair.

Pepperwand · 22/06/2019 18:20

Meh. I buy leggings from the girls'section in H&M for toddler DS1 as I prefer easy to pull on trousers for him and hate putting him in jeans or courdroy trousers as they are a pain to get on.

Eustasiavye · 22/06/2019 18:27

Dear Lord
He might turn gay!
Or worse- non binary!!!!!
Replace it with a dark t shirt with the slogan "death to all"
And give him a toy gun to play with to ward off gayness.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 22/06/2019 18:30

For a wedding or other formal occasion I would dress a boy in that (I'd prefer that to a bow tie on a baby!)
My DDs had a lovely beige dungeree set with Tigger on it .. from the boys section.

IsabellaLinton · 22/06/2019 18:31

I wouldn’t put my DS in it. It’s frilly and girly.

annabelle1992 · 22/06/2019 18:34

It's super cute but I'm not sure about putting a boy in it

annabelle1992 · 22/06/2019 18:35

But at the end of the day it's your baby dress him in whatever you want!

Camomila · 22/06/2019 19:07

I like it, I'd put a DS in it for a special occassion or if I wanted him to be a bit smart for photos.

Boys christening rompers are sometimes a bit frilly/flouncy but they are still 'for boys'

managedmis · 22/06/2019 19:09

Mega cute.

YANBU op

managedmis · 22/06/2019 19:09

How is it girly?!?!

Oldraver · 22/06/2019 19:14

It's a bit unusual for a frill on a presumably boys romper but I wouldn't worry about it. You could always cut it off if he were that bothered.

But I used to dress DS in sailor suits and old fashioned rompers and smocked rompers

Perditavita · 22/06/2019 19:18

I think it’s lovely OP. I didn’t even notice the frill until someone pointed it out. Can’t really go wrong with yellow and white surely?

PetrichorRain · 22/06/2019 19:36

I don’t like it, but not because of the frill. I just don’t like it. I wouldn’t put either sex baby in it.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 22/06/2019 19:38

I had to really go looking for that frill! It’s absolutely fine.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 23/06/2019 01:10

I think its just the style

I would be more than happy for s not to wear something like this
