This totally acceptable for a baby boy?

DS is nearly 6 months. I pick most of his clothes but DP likes to have a say too...

We like lots of different styles, agree on most clothes. But recently bought this from M&S as thought it looked cute for summer holidays, but DP refuses to put him in it. Says it's too frilly.

Surely not.

Thoughts?

I like it and would have put both DSs in it.

In fact, I once did use an old (pink) babygrow of DDs on DS and my mother was horrified.

She actually said "But what if he turns out homosexual?" (She wouldn't use the word "gay" as she considered it meant "happy" and "cheerful." You get the drift.

She was right through. That babygrow made DD "gay."

MrsElizabethShelby · 22/06/2019 15:17

That's lovely and quite unisex I think. If your DH wants it to be more 'boy' you could put a baby blue short sleeved best underneath and some gorgeous little blue buckle shoes

Jemima232 · 22/06/2019 15:17

And no, my mother wouldn't have liked having the word "lesbian" bandied about, either.

Tinyteatime · 22/06/2019 15:18

I’d put my boy in that. It’s cute.

BooksAreMyOnlyFriends · 22/06/2019 15:18

I'd put a boy in that. Nice and cool for the warm weather.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 22/06/2019 15:19

What does your DP think will happen if your DS wears that? Hmm Is he worried that the extra bit of material will make his penis fall off?

cantfindname · 22/06/2019 15:19

Bit on the fence about this one.

It is lovely but not sure it's right in either colour or design for a boy.

SarahTancredi · 22/06/2019 15:20

He will be the only gay in the village...

PristineCondition · 22/06/2019 15:21

@cantfindname what colours acceptable for a boy?

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 22/06/2019 15:21

I think it's OK but I'm fairly broad minded

This made me properly laugh out loud. As if you'd suggested putting him in babygro decorated with satanic images rather than a completely inoffensive stripy one.

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 22/06/2019 15:22

what colours acceptable for a boy?

Blue, obvs, with trucks, dinosaurs or pirates. Haven't you been to ANY of the Gender Stereotyping 101 classes recently?

eBae · 22/06/2019 15:23

Absolutely not. Even a whiff of yellow rather than manly blue will cause your child to sprout a rash of foofs across his entire body, AND it's highly infectious.

On a less sarky note... I didn't even spot the 'frill'!

Sexnotgender · 22/06/2019 15:24

Blue/green/brown all acceptable. Preferably with rockets, diggers or dinosaurs.

LadyWho · 22/06/2019 15:24

It's adorable! Your DH is a knob.

AshQ · 22/06/2019 15:25

Clothes are clothes - it’s lovely.

heartshapedknob · 22/06/2019 15:26

It’s just a classic design aimed at either sex of baby. Your husband is being a dick.

And don't forget the slogans that say 'trouble maker' 'up to no good' etc too. Can't forget those.

Coldandfrosty · 22/06/2019 15:34

You need a top that says

I LUV DIRT N NOISE

MUMMYS IKKLE SHITBAG

AM GONNA B A HEARTBREAKER

CARZ CARZ CARZ

Any of those on a solid blue would be fine for a boy.

Pinkmouse6 · 22/06/2019 15:35

I think it’s lovely and I’d definitely consider it ‘unisex’ but nothing is really off limits to me Grin.

transformandriseup · 22/06/2019 15:39

It’s fine, you could pair with red shoes or a hat

strawberrypenguin · 22/06/2019 15:41

Looks alright to me. I'd have put my boys in it

NauseousMum · 22/06/2019 15:42

It's cute, no reason why not to.

Tallgreenbottle · 22/06/2019 15:44

You'd like Vert Baudet op :) loads similar, less frilly.

skybluee · 22/06/2019 15:44

It's nice. Think it will look great in the summer outside.

oneforthepain · 22/06/2019 15:44

I think my accreditation has lapsed; I can't see anything wrong with this at all.

Op, what's your DH afraid of? You've got years of tedium fun ahead of you if he's going to be like this about a babygro. Think of all the prohibited sports and activities ahead. What if DS loves gymnastics or crochet or wants a baby doll to care for? Or decides to become a nurse?

What else is he going to ban based on nonsense/casual homophobia? He needs to get over himself and let his child just be.
