Sorry but it's been driving me mad on here today. If there's more than one of something you don't need an apostrophe. So parents, cameras, books etc.

I can't believe our education system is so bad that this hasn't been taught.

Rant over.

Neither, it's Fathers' Day (belonging to all father's).

In our house, it's father's day (we just have the one father living here).

In general terms, it's fathers' day, belonging to all fathers (no apostrophe in the plural of father).

Irregardless, definately don’t loose you’re head over this.

What about people who dont bother with any punctuation at all its just like a stream of consciousness thing it proper boils my shit and fucking lol should be outlawed as well and what about some kisses at the end I dont even know you xx

TransFannyUltrasound · 23/06/2019 13:28

Oh.....and just as bad ...people who punctuate using only ellipseses’s’s’s....... just no.......what’re u doin..

PCohle · 23/06/2019 13:39

Who really cares about it on a site like this?

99% of the time a grammatical error / typo does not render the poster unintelligible and individuals only point out mistakes to try and score cheap points. It's just rude.

johnstownflood · 23/06/2019 13:50

Anyone have a chester draws for sale 😬

ScreamingValenta · 23/06/2019 13:57

I think I might have a crush on David Burger.

I can't believe you know so little about our education system, that you're assuming it isn't.

Having said that, if other people's typing makes you so angry, the internet really isn't for you.

The problem isn't theirs, it's yours.

mumwon · 23/06/2019 14:04

mistyping? typing at night when half asleep, or trying to answer a question quickly whilst doing something else?

kateluvscats · 23/06/2019 14:06

Dont you mean plural's?

LesLavandes · 23/06/2019 14:11

Oh dear. This isn't an English grammar site. Find something more disturbing to worry about. A very dull thread

TwinklyMummaLuvsHerBubba89 · 23/06/2019 14:11

The thing I see on Mumsnet specifically is "of" instead of "have".

It instantly makes me disregard anything the poster is saying. I judge that person as being not very I intelligent.

I don't judge on spelling mistakes or grammar errors, it's not always easy to remember for some people. Plus autocorrect or typing one handed while toddler-wrangling or whatever, it doesn't irk me.

But it isn't "of" it's never been "of", use the correct fucking word - "have".

"I should of said no"

RARRRRRR

I'm off to sit in a quiet, darkened room now Grin

See I think that's an absolutely awful attitude to have.

Not everyone is intelligent, so are you saying that people who aren't, are not worth listening to or trying to help?

People from all walks of life use mumsnet for advice. It's quite nasty to think you'd disregard some of them due to their lack of intelligence.

Vulpine · 23/06/2019 14:46

What worra said!

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion's

TheCanterburyWhales · 23/06/2019 18:38

Maybe when you come out of your darkened room Twinkly, your own grammar and punctuation will be better.
Because you're not exactly top of the class yourself, are you?

Ladymargarethall · 23/06/2019 18:42

It annoys me too, but sometimes my phone decides I need an apostrophe and I don't notice until it is too late.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 23/06/2019 18:49

I can let most of the errors go but bought and brought winds me up. As does ect.

TwinklyMummaLuvsHerBubba89 · 23/06/2019 19:02

I didn't comment on grammar or spelling now did I.

Comprehension skills somewhat lacking aren't they @TheCanterburyWhales

schoolsoutforever · 23/06/2019 19:02

It is taught. Frequently! But some people are not very good learners in this area sadly. They no doubt have other valuable skills that I don't have, but it is frustrating as I, like you, find it fairly straightforward. I was TERRIBLE at making things (sewing, art, woodwork etc) so I think it's just a case of different aptitudes. Official signage often doesn't help either.
