To feel so devastated about this

Our DD's cat was PTS today.

We bought him for her 15 years ago and he was the first cat in our family.

He became very ill a week ago and the vet said he was suffering. DD and her DH took him to be PTS today.

I feel so sad. I loved that cat so much and I know DD is absolutely devastated. I have spent the day in bed, also devastated.

I'm so sorry.

EleanorAbernathy · 21/06/2019 20:49

No he won't mind at all! Although if he's anything like our cats he'll be up there somewhere going "I would have posted that by now!" whilst washing his bum Grin

I'm in my 60's and have had lots of lovely cats over the years. When they died I had them cremated and buried their ashes in the garden near a gorgeous fragrant Jasmine.

Flowers and hugs OP xx

Silvercatowner · 21/06/2019 21:06

Big hugs OP. These small furry creatures do find their way to your heart, don't they. Be kind to yourself - you did the right thing. xx

Iamnotagoddess · 21/06/2019 21:09

My cat was PTS a year ago tomorrow Sad

She was 17 and the kids and I were devastated.

So sorry for you OP.

I was adamant I would not have another cat. Two months later I got two kittens who were one yesterday and have helped immensely Flowers

MissPollyHadADolly19 · 21/06/2019 21:10

Flowers OP.
It's the worse choice you ever have to make when having a pet PTS.
I had 2 of mine done in the same week, caused by anti freeze poisoning - it was horrific Sad
It's the kindest thing to do when they're in pain though. Xx

IGottaSeeJane · 21/06/2019 21:16

Quite understand what you feel. Ours was PTS before Xmas (he was 17!) Upset me more than the death of some family members.

Myheartbelongsto · 21/06/2019 21:27

Oh I'm sorry to hear this op, of course you're devastated. I have a ginger cat called, yep you guessed it ginger and we love him so much!

His brother went missing 2 years ago and I cry a lot about that.

Mumof1andacat · 21/06/2019 21:38

From one cat lover to another xxxx. Thinking of you at this sad time xxxx

SkaTastic · 21/06/2019 21:40

Thinking of you and your beautiful puss cat. We had to have ours put to sleep and the grand old age of 20 last August. We loved him beyond sense he was the very, very best.

NannyRed · 21/06/2019 21:42

I’m so sorry.
Please remember, this hurts now, it will get better.
Having our pets PTS is the last act of kindness we do as pet owners!
At least your pet had loving, caring family and knew nothing but love and kindness.

Jux · 21/06/2019 21:48

I'm so sorry Flowers

Cats are people too, they're family.

Tiredtessy · 21/06/2019 21:54

It’s very sad but that’s like us living to 90, the cat had a lovely life and we normally outlive our pets, grieve and Be happy the cat had a long and lovely life x

I’m so sorry you lost your wee Toby Flowers. I’m currently looking at our wee Toby (his real name) relaxing at the foot of my bed. He’s only 10 but dreading the day this becomes our reality. My daughter has such a bond with him, I worry how she’ll handle it when the inevitable eventually happens.

I don’t know how I will cope when ours goes. I find her a comfort and great company. Very sorry for your loss

There’s a guy near us who does bird experiences and we had the birds come round and he posted that one of his owls died and I cried
