sorry if there's another thread somewhere already but i'm just gutted the series is finished but at the same time praying she doesn't ruin it by writing another.

YANBU - but there's one good cure: start reading them all again!

Mindles · 25/07/2007 15:01

not in the slightest - i am too.

FloriaTosca · 25/07/2007 15:01

YANBU; I've just finished it myself and feel exactly the same!...I'm consoling myself with the hope that in a few years time I can read them to the littleone I'm carrying at the moment and share the magic with him/her again.

expatinscotland · 25/07/2007 15:02

Not unreasonable.

Sad, yes .

AraFanellaFigg · 25/07/2007 15:03

No - YANBU.

Second 2Happy's suggestion - I just started The Philospoher's Stone again. Reads quite differently once you know how it all ends....

greensleeves · 25/07/2007 15:03

I am really pissed off it has finished actually, there's just nothing to look forward to now

theman · 25/07/2007 15:03

i think i'm going to have to re-read 6&7 straight away again as it was all getting a little jumbled up at parts with horcruxes and deathly hallows flying around.
delighted that i called two major points right though and can rub it in my sisters face who called me an idiot.

dustystar · 25/07/2007 15:03

I always feel like that when i finish a book I've enjoyed. The more i like it the quicker i read it. Just waiting for the films now.

greensleeves · 25/07/2007 15:04

god theman I would HATE to be your sister

foxinsocks · 25/07/2007 15:04

I don't really care for Harry Potter but I often feel that way when I finish a really good book. It's the feeling that life still goes on without that added bit of excitement .

theman · 25/07/2007 15:05

ha ha i know.she hasn't finished it yet though so i have to act like i know nothing, when there's an 8 year old running around in my head going "ne-nar-ne-nar-ne-nar"

OP posts:
greensleeves · 25/07/2007 15:07

lol, and I are like that, in fact we are so terrible we had to decide after book 3 that we would buy 2 copies of each book so we could race each other to the end

greensleeves · 25/07/2007 15:07

dh and I

paulaplumpbottom · 25/07/2007 15:07

You never know you might love another series

2Happy · 25/07/2007 15:08

There's still the films to look forward to

woopsadaisy · 25/07/2007 15:23

im a bit sad it has finished, but i am going to re read the whole 7 books so i get a proper understanding on the wqhole

constancereader · 25/07/2007 19:07

If you are unreasonable so am I. I have wanted to know the end for years, and now I do. I am glad but feel sad too, and thought I was the only one to over identify with fictional characters.

I still find myself wondering how Will and Lyra are bearing it..

fawkeoff · 25/07/2007 19:08

yeah im gutted 2 all the anticipation has gone

MrsWeasley · 25/07/2007 19:11

I posted this on another thread but will post again as it means we will have another book!

""In her first tell-all interview since the release of ?Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,? J.K. Rowling told TODAY?s Meredith Vieira she "probably will" publish a Potter encyclopedia, promising many more details about her beloved characters and the fate of the wizarding world beyond the few clues provided in the seventh book?s epilogue.

?I suppose I have (started) because the raw material is all in my notes,? Rowling said. The encyclopedia would include back stories of characters she has already written but had to cut for the sake of narrative arc (?I've said before that Dean Thomas had a much more interesting history than ever appeared in the books?), as well as details about the characters who survive ?Deathly Hallows,? characters who continue to live on in Rowling?s mind in a clearly defined magical world."""

It'll be a charity one just hope its nice and long!

MrsRonWeasley · 25/07/2007 19:12

I am sad to have finished too. It made me realise that book 6 was rubbish; we were having a conversation over lunch at work today and out of the 4 of us, none could remember what book 6 was actually called, let alone what happened in it so am going to read 6 and 7 again too

LittleSarah · 25/07/2007 19:14

I'm sad too. I'm going to re-read 7 soon as despite all my promises to the contrary I raced through it!

I wouldn't mind another series though, I read a lot of fantasy so I like series after series! I'm sure it won't happen.

MrsRonWeasley · 25/07/2007 19:24

The Septimus Heap series are quite good if you like Potter. By Angie Sage.

agnesnitt · 25/07/2007 20:13

I'm sad it's over, but there's the new Pratchett book to look forward to in October so it's not all doom and gloom

Agnes

fawkeoff · 25/07/2007 20:15

ive just started reading no7 again, as i rushed through it cos i was dying to know the end..........im kind of doing a mental blockage and trying to pretend i havent already read it

constancereader · 25/07/2007 20:44

Thanks for the info MrsWeasly, I was sure Hermione was going to be the Transfiguration teacher. As well as being married to Ron. Although there don't seem to be any married teachers at Hogwarts - or am I wrong?
