Also, what was the point of Ed coming on here for a chat, if he doesn’t value our opinions or want our votes. Cockwomble.

Ouch. So Ed accepts that women are discriminated against. And then lists pregnancy, period poverty, forced marriage and FGM.

3 out of 4 of those can, be definition, only affect born women, not transwomen.

At least that discrimination will end once self-ID comes in- it will be pregnant people that are discriminated against, not women!

Buddytheelf85 · 18/06/2019 19:41

‘Baby stuff’? How patronising! About 90% of the site is nothing to do with babies!

Pikapikachooo · 18/06/2019 19:43

I remain not transphobic after many years on here
Whilst the feedback has opened
My eyes my opinions remain the same as it always way
And I know I am not the only one either

XenoBio · 18/06/2019 19:47

Amazing how their own misogyny appears to be invisible to them

Fraid the LibDems lost my vote in the last year. Pity. Am a technically a floating voter, but they’re had my support for at least 10 years, at both local and general elections.

Can we have a Mumsnet party?

TheHeathenOfSuburbia · 18/06/2019 19:47

To be fair, these people must be suffering from terrible cognitive dissonance.

"Lets face it women continue to suffer discrimination - dismissal due to pregnancy, low conviction rates of rape, period poverty, forced marriage, FGM. "

Someone asked him to define a woman. He ignored the question, but he has right there by accident.

It's all suppressed in there somewhere.

Dr Evan Harris used to be a bit of a Lib Dem science champion. Wonder what he thinks about all this, I can't see him buying this bullshit...

DarkAtEndOfTunnel · 18/06/2019 19:49

Thanks for the webchat link. It's always entertaining to be told how a bunch of male-bodied humans who happen to think they perform feminine stereotypes are so much more vulnerable to abuse than women are. Not to mention that their troubles are soooo much more important than the fact that rape prosecutions are dropping even as reports rise, violence against women increases, and the legitimised excuses for it, e.g. "rough sex", grow ever more ludicrous.

I too will never consider a vote for the Lib Dems, despite being a remainer.

Laterthanyouthink · 18/06/2019 19:49

What would be the purpose of ‘grooming’ women here to be anti trans? What would anyone gain from that? It makes no sense.

S1naidSucks · 18/06/2019 19:58

You have to understand, Women have been really easy to groom and turn into those horrendously violent GC feminists because of their lady brains. Now if we had men brains we wouldn’t need to be told how to think, because we’d be very happy to believe TWAW, except for relationship purposes, of course. 😉

TheAngryLlama · 18/06/2019 20:02

Presumably the point of coming on here was to win some popularity points. Does he honestly think being so dim, illogical and patronising was the way to do it? How stupid can he be?
Ed, if you’ve nowt sensible to say, say nowt. Take a leaf out of boris’s Book. He knows. Better to let people suspect you might be a fuckwit rather than open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Throckmorton · 18/06/2019 20:05

Dark, you've totally hit the nail on the head with this:

It's always entertaining to be told how a bunch of male-bodied humans who happen to think they perform feminine stereotypes are so much more vulnerable to abuse than women are.

FizzyGreenWater · 18/06/2019 20:11

Wow, at this rate 'Fuck off, Laura' is going to be the new 'Bye Felipe'

Grin

PLEASE let's make this acronym happen Fellow Pram Discussers!

What do I think of the webchat? Just FOL basically

Grin
Answeringonlyyesorno · 18/06/2019 20:17

Christ alive what PR disaster!

Fucking clueless the lot of them.

Epic fail LD's.

PickAChew · 18/06/2019 20:22

Can anyone recommend a pram suitable for my 6' 15 year old? All the ones in Mothercare are just too small. He won't nap in his cot so I need a good sturdy pram to take him for a walk.

HorridHenrysNits · 18/06/2019 20:30

I wonder what qualifies that stupid bitch to speak on behalf of MN users?

JamB4cream · 18/06/2019 22:15

I will never vote for a party that doesn't understand being a woman is a biological reality, its not just a list of likes, dislikes and gender feelz.

FizzyGreenWater · 19/06/2019 15:10

Useful thread though, I've kind of hated the LibDems since the coalition sell-out and especially tuition fees, it's rather reassuring in a way to discover that they really are a bunch of two faced little twats.

wheresmymojo · 19/06/2019 15:17

I can't believe the actual level of patronising that "just come on to talk about baby stuff" contains.

I mean WTAF? From another woman as well Hmm

The LibDems would theoretically be my political home and I voted for them in the EU elections but they seem to be doing all they can to alienate me and thousands like me at the moment.

Also...fuck off with your 'groomed' like an adult woman can't review the arguments on both sides and make a decision.

LimeKiwi · 19/06/2019 15:29

What would be the purpose of ‘grooming’ women here to be anti trans? What would anyone gain from that? It makes no sense

I think she's got the wrong word with groomed but I can see what she means, I'm honestly not saying it to be contrary or whatever, just from what I see.
I knew nothing about the trans issues until before seeing the countless threads on here over the past couple of years.
Seriously, I really didn't.
You see things and think WTF? when you see pics and comments on here, and it (SOMETIMES) paints them all as out to be erase women and plays on fears and of the unknown.
There's an undercurrent. I'm not the only one who's seen it, it was on a thread a couple of days ago where somebody said it and I agreed. with them as I'd seen it too.
It's really hard to notice at first, as most posters are lovely with genuine concerns.
Once you see it though, you can't unsee.
I know how this reads, but I'm really really not trying to be. I think that must be what this Laura means.
I'm with you on the it makes no sense bit though, as I don't know why people would do that either? Maybe they don't realise they actually are doing it or something? Confused
I dunno

Gingerkittykat · 19/06/2019 15:50

Before I joined Mumsnet I thought it was just going to be baby chat, obviously nothing wrong with that but since I'm past the baby stage it would not be for me.

An obvious contempt for women shown here, since apparently those of us who want to talk about parenting cannot make their own minds up about other issues.

It's not like someone asks for advice on breastfeeding and someone jumps on the thread to talk about gender identity issues.

eurochick · 19/06/2019 16:46

Well that was disappointing. The stories have lost me over Brexit so I'm looking for a new political home. The LibDems share a lot of my ideals but if they have no idea what a woman is they will never have my vote.

So many politicians underestimate how intelligent and well-informed mumsnetters are. Which is misogynistic in itself.

Patroclus · 19/06/2019 16:51

ohhh its her again.

Xmr1986 · 19/06/2019 16:53

Oh do Fuck off, Lib Dem Laura.

LittleMissCwtch · 19/06/2019 17:10

I joined because I fucking love swearing!

And I didn't really read the feminism boards before, but a transwoman I know (a friend of a friend) likes to slate mumsnet and says how transphobic it is. Now I am aware that there are transphobic people out there, but I don't agree that speaking up for women's rights is transphobic. So I read a lot of posts on there now and while I believe a third space would be a solution where possible, I don't believe trans rights should be at a cost to women's rights.

I also used to vote Lib Dems, they have also lost my vote now.

Patroclus · 19/06/2019 17:57

I cannot actually believe a party is stupid enough to accept Aimee Challenor. Typical LDs though. They'l trample over anything for a sniff of power.

RomanyQueen · 19/06/2019 18:01

Well, was labour, they were useless, I would never vote Tory, and was going to vote Lib Dem, maybe Greens have something to offer.
People wonder why so many of us don't vote.
