What's a polite way of saying STFU while eating!! Hate being stuck in an office with someone who can't chew without chomping and clapping their lips together!! (eating an apple so also have slurrping sounds as well)

Oh yeah what's my AIBU?? to just say STFU!!!

There are two men who sit in my office and chew chewing gum with their mouths wide open all day long. You can't escape it. I'm very pregnant and it makes me queasy but I'm never brave enough to say anything so I resort to shoving headphones in.

Last pregnancy, i worked with a woman who used to eat tuna sandwiches whilst standing up to talk to the people behind me. Most days I would be sprayed with tuna, I haven't been able to even look at tuna mayo since.

I wasn't this sensitive to eating habits until I met DH who is very sensitive (I suspect misophonia) and now I'm hyper aware of it.

I've got a slurper opposite me. Thankfully he only seems to have one cup of whatever he's slurping per day. Its very very loud though. Especially in a very quiet office.

Some people are pigs who were dragged up, not brought up

ChardonnaysPrettySister · 18/06/2019 15:15

I really don't understand it. Why is it so hard to close your mouth when you're chewing?

Hate it with a passion.

Whycantistaymotivated · 18/06/2019 15:19

stroan that made me feel queasy

Most days I would be sprayed with tuna, I haven't been able to even look at tuna mayo since.

That’s so fucking rude. I would make a point of wiping it off my clothes, with an urgh look on my face. If that didn’t give a hint I’d have to say something.

I love fruit, if I’M the one eating it! I genuinely can’t cope with the noise of someone else eating. I’ve been like this since childhood and it even came up in counselling I was having for a separate issue over 20 years ago. There wasn’t a commonly known name for it then. I can go out for dinner with others, but only because there’s background noise. I have to have a radio on when eating with others at home.

Sexnotgender · 18/06/2019 16:11

I used to work with the worst eater. He’d eat so quickly and noisily. Wouldn’t take one bite of an apple but 3.
He’d also take a massive bite of his sandwich and then try and start a fucking conversation with you Angry no Scott I’m not talking to you while you spray me with sandwich you ignorant prick.

I used to go for a wander round the office when he started his lunch just to get away.

5 hours of chomping gum so far today. I don't actually know how it's possibly to make such loud, slurpy noises. My wireless headphones have run out of charge now so I can't avoid it.

TixieLix · 19/06/2019 13:38

I've found my people Grin. I have very low tolerance levels for noisy eating, gum chewing, slurping etc (every actor on tv at the moment seems to slurp their drink, even when it's cold!) and I also hate other noises such as a colleague who insists on thumping his keyboard. I've another colleague who wears a bracelet that constantly clatters against the desk as she types. I've taken to putting in my earphones (even at work) and playing music to block out noises that irritate me.

trinitybleu · 19/06/2019 15:00

I got told off for eating my salad too loudly by a colleague...... Who eats her crisps with her mouth open every day! Other colleagues have reassured me I'm not loud and she's just bonkers.

Macca84 · 20/06/2019 15:09

Fuck sake. I've been sat in a meeting since 10am and they've had sweets sat on the table that people have chomped and smacked on ever since. I've never wished death on so many people so severely before!!

IfIwereable · 20/06/2019 15:44
Angry

Our chomper had a Pear today, tried the subtle "Chomper, thats a crunchy pear!!" but didn't change the volume even slightly. Luckily our screens are in the way so I don't see it as well Hmm
