AIBU to find these passive aggressive and annoying? I keep being sent these things in support of eg autism or cancer.

Since both my kids are on the spectrum and DH is in remission from cancer, I feel that I've done my bit with this and don't need someone saying I'm not their 'real' friend because I don't want to pass on some stupid FB comment.

OP posts:
redcarbluecar · 17/06/2019 11:46

‘Please can 5 of my friends repost this? I think I know who will’

I always want to say ‘go on then, who?’

CuriousaboutSamphire · 17/06/2019 11:47

ICanWearMyBoobsUpOrDown I have shared one of those... but it was real, from good freind who had had her car 'rumbled' by a couple of lads as she was driving home, late one night.

I got a bit of abuse, until the friend leaped in to say it was her, had happened the night before and she had to drive to a petrol station and park under the CCTV and lights whilst calling the police. She was terrified! So now I check them a bit before i inore or post a daft comment!

'Time for a facebook cull!'

then

'if you are still reading this you are one of the lucky ones'

ethelfleda · 17/06/2019 11:56

Delete your accounts! Facebook is scientifically proven to decrease your IQ Grin

CuriousaboutSamphire · 17/06/2019 12:01

Grin I'll go with that !!

Isatis · 17/06/2019 12:04

I've had these from otherwise sensible people, and I can only conclude it's because they haven't bothered to read them properly. I've been known to reply explaining as politely as possible why I won't be reposting or whatever it is they want, and to their credit one or two have realised the issue and taken the post down.

ICanWearMyBoobsUpOrDown · 17/06/2019 12:05

CuriousaboutSamphire there are definitely genuine ones, you can usually spot them, it's more the

Beware, new gang in the area, they put a paper mache UFO in a crash position in a field to get you to pull over, when you do 3 gang members parachute down, dressed as aliens, and speak to you in a language you don't understand, when you take out your phone and pull up Google translate to see what they are saying in their alien language, it says they are asking you to go to an address in the next town, upon going to this address and taking the alien parachutists there you can see the house is filled with gang members who are wearing tin foil hats, this is a well known gang initiation and they will all murder you then eat you

type ones that you just know has never happened in a million years that bug the shit out of me.

toomuchtooold · 17/06/2019 12:10

My school bully posted one to raise awareness about... bullying. "Some of my friends won't share this"... yeah, because they remember what you were like at school you evil cow Hmm

ChocChocButtons · 17/06/2019 12:15

Oh god I hate those, I roll my eyes and move on,

Ratonastick · 17/06/2019 12:16

I’m always reminded of a friend who got accosted by a very pushy breast cancer chugger in the tube. She was in a fairly serious grump and a lot of pain and he wouldn’t leave her alone. So she loudly informed him that she’d already given half a tit and 27 lymph nodes. She then went back and harangued him about breast cancer stats and the likelihood that he was harassing survivors and their families and that he should rethink how he was earning a living.

She spent the rest of the day a bit blue and cross with herself as it wasn’t his fault etc. But I think I would have applauded her.

Fibbke · 17/06/2019 12:18

A bit off topic, but when I ran Race For Life I got telephoned by a guy from the breast cancer charity. He started by thanking me for raising 500, then when I was feeling happy and chatty he said but the awful thing is that your 500 isn't enough, there are still women dying, don't you think that's terrible? So we need you to start a direct debit to the charity. I said I felt I had done enough and put the phone down. Arsehole.

mintymellons · 17/06/2019 12:18

Ugh, I have one friend in particular who often posts these things. Awful, creepy, weird.

AngelaJ18 · 17/06/2019 12:20

Add to these those stupid sad faces animals “I bet I won’t get one share”. Not from me you won’t!

LillithsFamiliar · 17/06/2019 12:50

They're the modern equivalent of chain letters ... with an added twist of virtue signalling.

Elphame · 17/06/2019 13:04

@ bluebluezoo @thenightsky - ahh there's a reason for the copy and paste instruction!

OMG is this happening in your area too? Stay safe out there huns Grin Grin

itscallednickingbentcoppers · 17/06/2019 13:10

Yes I hate these, and also pictures of poor sick children with 'share if you want me to live, bet I can't get a million likes' what the fuck, have these people never though of protecting the dignity of a poor child who's unwell.

Also 'a lion doesn't concern herself with the opinion of sheep' memes. You're not a lion, you're a 38 year old dog groomer, and you don't have an original thought in your head Tracey.

Swannykazoo · 17/06/2019 13:13

Posting messages to dead relatives on father's/ mother's day. As if it is somehow a window to the other side....

RaininSummer · 17/06/2019 13:14

Total wankery. Always make me want to block the person on sight of one but annoying my sister is one of the worst offenders.

HollySniffs · 17/06/2019 13:14

Omg is this still happening?

I pied FB for this and various other ridiculousness a few years ago.

Twitter and Insta are better, you don't get half as much inanity. (Some though of course).

banskuwansku · 17/06/2019 13:19

I have an acquaintance who posts these messages to dead people, cancer&ASD do not share but copy and posts, mental health posts, answers to a list of random questions am so on. I can't unfriend but I do feel second hand embarrassed.

peppersaunt · 17/06/2019 13:27

And it’s always the same people posting (unfortunately some are close relatives). What I hate the most is the people posting about missing their mums/dads on mother’s/father’s day every year for 10 years. Enough with the attention-seeking!

DonkeyHohtay · 17/06/2019 13:35

They're nonsense from the "hun" brigade who are thick as two short planks.

Ignore, ignore, ignore.

CloserIAm2Fine · 17/06/2019 13:38

I ignore on principle even if it’s a cause I agree with.

And those “I bet I won’t even get one share” bollocks

toomuchtooold · 17/06/2019 16:02

Oh god I know, I have a school friend who does that. "Hugs to anyone whose father is not here to celebrate Father's Day with them". I mean look it's sad when anyone does but we're in our 40s and we're from the west of Scotland, that "anybody" is about half my class.
