Is anyone watching? Or is there already a thread? I think Gove looks suprisingly good thus far. Very confident and sincere sounding. Sajid seems the biggest grafter amongst them comprehensive school. Went into banking.

But its all fluff thus far.

I agree with Rory.

NeedAUsernameGenerator · 16/06/2019 20:50

I missed the beginning - why didn't Boris turn up?

onalongsabbatical · 16/06/2019 20:55

I don't remember them wasting any time at the beginning on Boris not being there, as it's been all over the news for the last few days.

Justanotherlurker · 16/06/2019 21:00

I missed the beginning - why didn't Boris turn up?

He said it will turn up to future debates when the list is whittled down somewhat, plus if he was on then it would all be about him.

NeedAUsernameGenerator · 16/06/2019 21:01

Oh weirdly I heard Boris on the radio saying he would take part in a televised debate so I was expecting him to be there. Maybe he meant in general but not this one???

MissQuad · 16/06/2019 21:03

Rory Stewart is the only one who seems believable.

Ronsters · 16/06/2019 21:06

To be honest, watching this, I'm beginning to think Boris did the right thing by staying away.

onalongsabbatical · 16/06/2019 21:07

Ah ok he's in the Tuesday one at the BBC.

HollowTalk · 16/06/2019 21:07

It was like episode 1 of The Apprentice.

Rory Stewart was miles ahead in terms of intelligence and integrity.

Akire · 16/06/2019 21:08

LBC radio news is calling it a “clash over Brexit” they hardly got out breath never mind a clash. Rory would get my vote if I had vote Tory, he would straight talk Boris and show him up with his “ways”.

fedup21 · 16/06/2019 21:09

What a shower of shite.

None of them seemed to answer the questions-it was all just bluff.

They seemed to spectacularly miss the point about mental health issues in school. Saying that schools and teachers should be alert for children with mental health problems and put early provision in place is just bollocks. Teachers do this all the time, but they aren’t MH experts and there’s no money to do anything to support them or anyone to refer them to. Plus...if the Tory education provision wasn’t so narrow, rigid and frankly awful, the mental health problems in our children wouldn’t be anywhere near as bad.

fedup21 · 16/06/2019 21:11

Bloody Boris not turning up is a joke as well. But, no doubt nobody will care and he’ll still win anyway. It’s frightening how low people’s expectations are-it doesn’t bode well for the future. What else is he going to get away with?

MaddieElla · 16/06/2019 21:13

Boris will be at the one on Tuesday when the list is shortened.

BigSexyCrimeUnit · 16/06/2019 21:15

Have to laugh at Rory Stewart saying social care is his overall priority. I wrote to him twice about issues with my grandmother's treatment by social services. He did absolutely bugger all.

Snowy111 · 16/06/2019 21:16

If it’s Rory against Boris in the final two, I think Rory would win, he’s winning lots of people over including the Conservative Party membership

BigSexyCrimeUnit · 16/06/2019 21:17

Yes, but it's as much smoke and mirrors with him as it is the others. He just dresses it up in a different way.

confussedmisfit · 16/06/2019 21:24

Rory getting the most praise in the press, but that's because he didn't say anything of note so couldn't make himself sound as bad as the others.

Jeremy Hunt actually said he'd make sure all school leavers would leave to top paying, high end jobs.
That's all fair and good but If you've got only managers, who do they manage????

Unpopular opinion on here, but Dominic Raab gets my vote.
He's tough and sticks to his guns.

Still a lot of willy waving.

bluebell34567 · 16/06/2019 21:44

Jess Philips is nice. i agree with pp.

bluebell34567 · 16/06/2019 21:46

i agree with boris not attending because all they say and he will say is bs. no one keeps their promises, or cant keep their promises. EU says they wont accept any deal other than WA.

bluebell34567 · 16/06/2019 21:46

he would say

bluebell34567 · 16/06/2019 21:48

to me Gove did worse than his previous attendances.

bluebell34567 · 16/06/2019 21:49

they all memorized their answers beforehand. if question is different they answer different.Smile

bluebell34567 · 16/06/2019 21:51

among them Gove is the most dangerous one. he does stuff that there is no return.

ILoveJoeBrown · 16/06/2019 21:52

Sad to admit that Rory gets my vote from this outing. At least he admits to being least experienced but his honesty (as far as it goes with politicians) is refreshing.

LemonGingerCakes · 16/06/2019 21:56

I want to punch them all for using that horrible thumb over bent but slightly pointy finger clenched fist thing they do.

Yes! I noticed this as well! Why?!!
