Is anyone watching? Or is there already a thread? I think Gove looks suprisingly good thus far. Very confident and sincere sounding. Sajid seems the biggest grafter amongst them comprehensive school. Went into banking.

But its all fluff thus far.

I hate this polcitics double speak and any question is just a lead into 5 minutes of pre pepated bollocks. .

It pains me say this but Gove seems alright.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 16/06/2019 19:47

Rory's last comment was very on the money. Crowd gave him a big applause

Im very interested in what they've got to say about mental health provisions cause they are presently shit.

Redcrayons · 16/06/2019 19:50

Claude interviewing them would be great
I would pay cold hard cash to see this.

BubblegumFactory · 16/06/2019 19:52

I see no statesmen here, just ambitious career politicians talking the talk.
I want to punch them all for using that horrible thumb over bent but slightly pointy finger clenched fist thing they do.

Cinammoncake · 16/06/2019 19:53

I want to punch them all for using that horrible thumb over bent but slightly pointy finger clenched fist thing they do.

Grin Grin
Yes why has everyone started doing this thing. I've noticed it on the news too

mooncuplanding · 16/06/2019 19:56

Rory Stewart was good on Marr this morning...he was ok on this but seemed a little impatient to get his point across

I do like him though...he’s in the centre which is what we need right now

DasMumBoot · 16/06/2019 19:58

Bubblegum totally agree. I’ve had to turn off as I’m getting so annoyed with their egos and unfounded conviction they’re the right man for the Job. So far I’m most impressed with Boris’s empty podium. It seems the most sensible thing in the whole sorry line up.

onalongsabbatical · 16/06/2019 19:58

Rory by a mile.
But fantasy PM for me - Jess Phillips.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 16/06/2019 20:00

Rory got the biggest clap and came across the best in my opinion. Boris shoukd have turned up.

Sajid and Hunt? got no clap

Whatsername7 · 16/06/2019 20:01

I agree they all seem like they are saying the right things. But, when you look at their voting history, I just can't get behind any of them. Their actions are the real issue and what we should focus on, not their clever words.

Mummyshark2019 · 16/06/2019 20:01

I like Rory the best.

Cinammoncake · 16/06/2019 20:02

Jeremy hunt looked like his eyes were about to turn red and lasers fire out of them

presumedinnocence · 16/06/2019 20:02

It was like watching the biggest show-offs from an undergraduate debating society.

Stewart is the only one among them with any apparent substance or integrity, but his nervous twitching & random big grins are unnerving

BubblegumFactory · 16/06/2019 20:03

On the other hand, that PM job is such a poisoned chalice, I’m amazed anyone wants it.
Doomed, them and us.

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 16/06/2019 20:04

Cinnamon😂

Camomila · 16/06/2019 20:05

Rory for me too. The audience seemed to like him the most I think.

Least favourite is Raab, he just seems so smug.

DH particularly dislikes 'The Saj' because his family are also Asian immigrants and he feels like he's trying to 'pull the rug up' against other immigrants to prove his Britishness.

Mammajay · 16/06/2019 20:13

I was surprised when Gove, speaking to the woman who said she had an autistic son, said you probably have someone in your family who is autistic. Rory Stewart came over best IMO. What is his back story?

ghostyslovesheets · 16/06/2019 20:14

Twitter summed it up - worst stag do ever' - seriously what a bunch of privileged, entitled men - agree RS came over the best - as in the most honest least self serving but what a bunch of '6 toed born to rule pony fuckers'

CatherineOfAragonsPrayerBook · 16/06/2019 20:14

But Whatsername7 It has to be someone or Boris by default.

OP posts:
marvellousnightforamooncup · 16/06/2019 20:15

Raab is wearing Trump's tie.

Fleetheart · 16/06/2019 20:23

Yes Gove showed himself up there. Generally I feel at least he does have some integrity even if I don’t agree with all he says. Rory Stewart is much the most sensible. Not photogenic though; unfortunately this means he will struggle.

MyNameIsArthur · 16/06/2019 20:36

The Tories have been in power for the past 9 years . They have already had plenty of time to be getting on with fixing education, NHS, mental health and social care, and so on

MyNameIsArthur · 16/06/2019 20:39

But Rory Stewart definitely came across as more honest and sincere in my opinion

Mammajay · 16/06/2019 20:46

So Gove insisted school children learn their 12 and 16 times tables which IMO says a Iot about him. Any of you younger mumsnetters know why he did that?
