To ask those with rosacea

What products have you found that have helped clear it up?

I have mild rosacea on my cheeks either side of my mouth. It’s easily covered with make up but I don’t feel confident without it on, and to be honest I just want to make it go away.

I’ve tried 25% vitamin c oil and The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension but neither seems to have made a difference Sad

What are your miracle cures?

Do you have the spotty or just red kind?

Go to the Dr and ask for soolantra!

SherlockSays · 16/06/2019 09:26

Following because I've tried everything! My sounds like it's probably worse than yours as it isn't that easily covered.

I have laser hair removal and we did try it on my rosacea but it was too painful for me.

TeddiesAreEverywhere · 16/06/2019 09:29

I had quite bad rosacea, with spots etc. Only thing that helps is Lymecycline from the GP. Only moisturiser I use is Aveeno. Over the years I had tried all sorts of expensive face wash and creams etc. But only medications has worked.

Asdfghjklll · 16/06/2019 09:30

Sudocrem! Use as a night cream over affected areas and I find it really helps.

Whatdoyouknowwhenyouknownowt · 16/06/2019 09:32

Defo the Invermectin, Soolantra.

It's progressive, so don't be fobbed off. I did the while range if treatments, before seeing a consultant.

Diet also helps, tho the consultant disagreed. Supermarket bread sets mine off.

DappledThings · 16/06/2019 09:33

I started using sulphur soap a few weeks ago after a recommendation on here. It seems to be helping a bit. Have only had one flare up since then which is less than normal.

ellesbellesxxx · 16/06/2019 09:35

Going dairy free and soolantra... the best things I have found!
When I cut down on chocolate it’s better too.... that’s tricky though 😳

maddiemookins16mum · 16/06/2019 09:41

I used a green based foundation.

Gonegrey31 · 16/06/2019 09:43

Lymecycline is the only thing that has worked for me . My rosacea has now completely cleared . I’ve tried everything else over the counter .

Lazypuppy · 16/06/2019 09:46

Lymacycline and aveeno

Lymecycline is the only thing that has ever worked for me.

DrSeuss · 16/06/2019 09:55

Erythromycin lotion on prescription. Twice a day over my whole face. Can't recommend it enough.

MaMaMaMySharona · 16/06/2019 09:55

I’m already vegan so no dairy in my diet! I’ve only had it for a couple of years and only realised recently that it’s rosacea. I have red dots in a line about 1-2cm wide down both sides next to my both, I also get weird tiny spots on my forehead that don’t hurt and go away after a day? Not sure if that’s usual.

I was trying to avoid GP because I’m worried about getting fobbed off but will certainly go if people have had products that work!

Sudocrem at bedtime. Redness is much reduced (and seems to tighten open pores too!)

MaMaMaMySharona · 16/06/2019 09:57

*next to my mouth, not both!

Dermalex rosacea cream. You can buy from Boots and Amazon etc. Absolutely amazing, cleared it up almost immediately. And using the Simple range for face wash has kept it under control. Good luck, hope you find something that works for you.

Onetoanother · 16/06/2019 10:17

Prescribed tablet form drugs from my GP who specialized in 'skin'. I suffered for years, sore, uncomfortable, always at its worst when I needed it to be at it's best! Had tried prescribed creams and many other solutions

The drugs ( sorry can't remember what) were prescribed to take for 28 days, which I did. My face cleared completely over that time and the rosacea has never returned.
It feels like a miracle, still wonder why I hadn't been given medication sooner and why I waited so long to seek decent advice and help.

ErrolTheDragon · 16/06/2019 10:18

I've got soolantra and it stings and makes me go even redder. They won't change it because soolantra is the gold standard treatment so now I'm using nothing.

That's interesting - my GP hadn't even heard of soolantra when I asked about it a couple of years ago (having heard of it on MN, of course). I'm not sure it was even licensed for use with rosacea then.

I'm currently using rosex , which is effective enough (I don't mind wearing a bit of foundation). A course of Lymeocycline is very effective but my last appointment was with the nurse practitioner and she wasn't keen on prescribing a long course of oral ABs unless strictly necessary. Finacea gel, separately or applied before the rosex also helps.

Starlight456 · 16/06/2019 10:19

I saw a dermatologist and was prescribed antibiotics for 3 months , cleared and has never come back.

ny20005 · 16/06/2019 10:25

Can I ask what aveeno you all use ? The only facecream that doesn't bring me out in hives is dermalogica but it's not very moisturising

Banhaha · 16/06/2019 10:49

Keep going to the GP if they fob you off, try whatever they suggest and then go back.

I found avoiding red wine and curry helped.

Gentle facewash, like Cetaphil helped. Eucerin do a moisturiser with a green tint that helps calms things down. Sorry I forget what it's called.

321zerobaby · 16/06/2019 10:59

As others have said, Soolantra prescribed by the GP. It’s amazing, I had red inflamed skin for so long while I tried everything else. Then listened to the mumsnet advice and my skin is now perfect.

newyeardelurker · 16/06/2019 11:10

I use la Roche posay rosaliac for mild rosacea, it keeps mine reasonably calm. Light moisturizer and AR intense. Also effaclar duo for spots.

TeddiesAreEverywhere · 16/06/2019 11:27

ny20005 I use the Aveeno Skin Relief. I buy it on amazon though as it’s cheaper than in the shops. I’ve been using it daily for a few years now and it’s great, it’s so moisturising and not greasy at all.
