To ask those with rosacea

What products have you found that have helped clear it up?

I have mild rosacea on my cheeks either side of my mouth. It’s easily covered with make up but I don’t feel confident without it on, and to be honest I just want to make it go away.

I’ve tried 25% vitamin c oil and The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension but neither seems to have made a difference Sad

What are your miracle cures?

I use tea tree foaming wash as it's antibacterial and sulphur soap To clean my face. Then I use either Soolantra or a silver serum over the affected areas. I still get flare ups but not nearly as much as I used to. Only thing that cleared my skin completely was antibiotics but I didn't like being on them for too long.

Thanks everyone! Going to book myself in with the GP and hope that they can prescribe me something that gets rid of it for good!

This thread has made me book an appointment - a week on Friday!

I have been down this route before when it was nowhere near as bad as now but don't remember what I was prescribed, I was referred to a dermatologist by the GP though and I didn't feel he really thought i was worth the time and effort.

@TeddiesAreEverywhere is it this one ? All the others say body lotion 🤔

To ask those with rosacea
TeddiesAreEverywhere · 17/06/2019 20:58

@ny20005 yeah that’s the one. There should be a 300ml pump style bottle which is usually better value.

Adreamaday · 17/06/2019 21:03

Anti biotics is the only thing that clears mine

MsMarvellous · 17/06/2019 21:40

I've had bright red rosacea face for years and a doctor once told me only lasers would
Fix it and I didn't fancy that. I just thought I had to put up with it (don't wear make up)

I'm off to try sudocrem!

octopusrus · 17/06/2019 21:41

Rosex from the online doctor, just had to upload a photo. Noticed an almost immediate difference and it was gone completely after about 2 weeks.

luckygreeneyes · 17/06/2019 21:47

Rozatrol from zo - works miracles

ny20005 · 17/06/2019 22:24

@TeddiesAreEverywhere thank you, I'll order it now 😊

Another shout for Lymecycline here! And avoiding anything spicy.

Zephbloggs · 17/06/2019 22:42

butterflies do you just use the rosacure intensive cream or do you use the rosacure fast as well?

I'm guessing that you have thread veins if you used to use ipl. I have thread veins rather than flushing and most of the creams seem targeted at flushing and spots. I'd be keen to try anything that can help thread veins.

BellMcEnd · 17/06/2019 22:46

I’m not sure if I have true rosacea but my skin can get very inflamed. A friend with full on rosacea recommended apple cider vinegar capsules and they’ve really helped a lot. Might be worth a try?

littlepeas · 18/06/2019 10:00

I gave up wine - that is the thing that has made the biggest difference (I still drink beer, which doesn’t seem to affect my skin). Trial and error with skincare - I cleanse with Lush ultrabland, use rosehip oil at night and a rose/vit c oil for daytime - no creams at all, they all seem to irritate. Mineral sunscreen everyday. No hot baths, steam room, sauna, etc.

ElizaPancakes · 18/06/2019 10:17

I’ve just seen a dermatologist who prescribed six months of lymecycline - I said that soolantra seems to be the medication du jour but he didn’t make a comment and my GP wouldn’t or couldn’t prescribe.

The lymecycline is working, it’s getting rid of the ‘spots’ but I still have redness. It’s not flushing it’s just....red.

I think you need to try an acne medication before anything else, lymecycline or doxycycline which will probably fix it for you.

If it’s a bit sore then you might like to try snail mucin cream - I’ve found it quite soothing and supposedly has some restorative properties. You can get it from amazon.

ErrolTheDragon · 18/06/2019 11:12

It's important to use good sunblock, IIRC lymecycline can cause even more sensitivity. The Boots 'protect and perfect' is good.

mummywingingit · 18/06/2019 11:30

My mum has this over her nose, it's quite nasty and spot like. The only thing that works is a cream she gets from the doctor specially for this skin condition. With it, you wouldn't even know she has it!!
It flares when she is really stressed, but again the cream soon sorts it out

escapade1234 · 18/06/2019 11:34

Are you sure you have roseacia and not peri-oral dermatitis? If it’s the latter then only an oral antibiotic will work.

Popuppippa · 18/06/2019 12:24

Soolantra - visibly improved my skin overnight.

My skin was vile - flaky cheeks that looked windburned, tiny bumpy dots over my forehead and under my chin and teeny tiny spots.

I spent hundreds of pounds on expensive skincare, concealers, foundations and nothing worked to eliminate or conceal it until I tried Soolantra. Skin is now lovely again.

I posted a long thread on Style and Beauty and Soolantra was mentioned then.

Other things that helped were Cetaphil facewash for sensitive skin, old fashioned blue Nivea used as a facemask, left for 10 mins, massaged in then tissued off. I tried La Roche Posay Roseliac but it didn't so anything at all for me.
