Finding induction hard..

That's it really, I've had two breakdowns already, pain of examinations, having waters broken... to small stuff like wanting to be at home, feeling grotty not getting a proper shower 😓 just want it to be over with so I can take my baby home!

AIBU to feel like this?

No! Inductions can be long and exhausting. Can you get a shower now, if things aren't happening right now? Can you have a shower and a bit of a walk & fresh air before the next phase? Hope it won't be long till you're holding your baby. Lots of luck xxxx

FudgeBrownie2019 · 14/06/2019 11:07

YANBU at all, induction is so, so difficult. As Jelly suggests can you keep moving and have your shower now so that you feel a little better? Flowers

BrokenWing · 14/06/2019 11:10

They are a long slog. When I was all wired up (drip and automatic blood pressure cuff, baby monitoring) for induction they wouldn't even let me go for a pee never mind a shower, I had to use a bed pan! Couldn't walk around either, but I guess all inductions are different.

Once the baby is hear you will forgot how long it took, all you can do really is go with the flow for now.

Good luck.

BrokenWing · 14/06/2019 11:11

here not hear!

Brainfogmcfogface · 14/06/2019 11:11

Not at all! But it will be over soon, your on the last last bit. That’s all I kept thinking during mine 15 weeks ago, so still remember the feelings vividly. As hard as it is try and stay calm, It took 3 days until I gave birth, but then I was in for another 3 because I was stressing so much about being in it sent my blood pressure rocketing 😬
Keep your eye on the prize and all the pain will be over soon, it’s horrible but it will, it will be over soon, best wishes to you xx

ffiffi8 · 14/06/2019 12:47

I'm not allot o walk around 😑 I'm on continuous monitoring and a drip... they've just tried to break my waters, legs up in stirrups, doctor tried twice... no joy 😤😥 but I'm so happy that's over and I'm on drip! Excited to hold my baby 😊

ffiffi8 · 14/06/2019 12:54

@Brainfogmcfogface it's definitely made me think twice about having another as awful as it sounds...

I have a long standing health condition and the hospital have been brilliant but if I'm honest I didn't realise it'd be so complicated... really naive of me to be honest, I think now the breaking of waters examination is done and they've put me on drip I'm more optimistic, I feel like things hopefully will get going... I always find the examinations the most painful part!

Oh op my first was induced and it was miserable so full sympathies to you. One thing though, they can’t sat you’re not allowed to move around. This was what made my first birth so difficult. You can insist on being allowed to be up and moving, they like you on the machines so they can leave you to it but i was also induced with my third and refused continuous monitoring and had a much better time. Lying down is the worst possible position for managing the pain and actually getting things moving

TheTrollFairy · 14/06/2019 13:02

I really feel for you OP. I hated having an induction and it’s definitely make me more weary of another child. That being said, I would go straight for the c-section next time as I ended up with one anyway as labour didn’t progress for me. 1 lot of my waters went naturally (hence the induction) the other had to be broken (I didn’t know there were 2 lots of waters to go).
You’ll have your baby soon and it’ll all be worth it

username1724 · 14/06/2019 13:03

My first induction was very quick, second took 2 days. I sympathise! But now you've made it to the drip phase it should move nicely, mine took about 2hours from drip to pushing and and once its over that feeling is worth it ten times over! Good luck!

JPK1510 · 14/06/2019 13:03

My baby is 3 weeks old the first bit of induction was hard but once they broke my waters he was here 5 hours later so good luck!!

AudacityOfHope · 14/06/2019 13:04

All the worst bits are over! I was in SOOO much pain with getting my waters broken, and getting the drip properly sited. Once that was done, the contractions ramped right up, and I got my epidural. Then fell asleep for about 4 hours, woke up for the odd contraction, until DD was born mid-afternoon.

Good luck, you've done a lot of the scariest bits already, and it's getting close to baby time.

(and on the subject of a second, I was induced second time too and it was one of the best experiences of my life, they're all so so different).

4under4our · 14/06/2019 13:09

Is this the norm now? I remember the drip being hooked on to one of those wheely things so I could move around and go to the toilet etc. Just meant DP had to follow me around with it!

BrokenWing · 14/06/2019 13:51

ds is 15 and I wasn't allowed to move around, one arm had a drip, the other a blood pressure monitoring going off automatically at regular intervals. Also frequently had a strap across my belly monitoring ds. They insisted I used a bed pan and after the epidural I had a catheter.

oh the joys of childbirth! I didn't get the opportunity to do it again but if I had to go through it again I would have in a heartbeat to have that wee baby at the end!

ZippyBungleandGeorge · 14/06/2019 13:55

Mine was the same OP and my waters had broken on their own early, once I was on the drip things started happening and then they ramped it up and I went from 4cm to 10cm in an hour. Good luck, it feels like forever now, but you'll look back soon and it won't

ffiffi8 · 14/06/2019 18:02

Waters are broken Grin currently on highest of drip... contractions coming and going, epidural scheduled for 9pm hopefully baby will be here soon!

Good luck OP! Induction (IME) is a fucking nightmare so no YANBU. I started with outpatient induction on Saturday lunchtime, had inpatient induction begin on Sunday morning, and still hadn't had a baby by Tuesday afternoon (or any sleep, but plenty of proddings, pokings, agonising contractions and every kind of pain relief going - not exactly the waterbirth-to-whalesong I'd planned!!). Eventually gave in and asked for a section when after 10hours on the drip and spectacularly painful contractions and vomitting my guts up on pethidine I was still exactly where I'd started at 5cm dilated. Glad yours is actually on the move! You do forget it once you have your wonderful baby but it is total bullshit so don't feel shy about moaning!

Puffthemagicdragongoestobed · 14/06/2019 18:17

Good luck OP. I was induced with my first and that epidural was absolutely invaluable!

ffiffi8 · 15/06/2019 00:56

Well still here!! Had the epidural and feel so much better, so relaxed! Getting checked at 3am and if not dilated possible c section on cards... I've given up by now so whatever needs to be done is fine as long as she's safe Smile

Itsjeremycorbynsfault · 15/06/2019 01:04

Glad to hear you have had the epidural, my induction with my second child took three/four days and I found the drip awful but once that epidural went in, the pain floated away.

Hang on in there, it won't be much longer!

username198817 · 15/06/2019 01:08

Try get some sleep x

lostfrequencies · 15/06/2019 01:09

TrixieFranklin · 15/06/2019 01:09

AudacityOfHope · 15/06/2019 04:20
