Sliders with socks is bang on trend. So pleased I’m untrendy!

The only people that have worn socks with sandals historically, are American tourists and Liberal Democrat’s Grin

PutyourtoponTrevor · 13/06/2019 08:18

I put my flip flops on to let the dog out whilst wearing normal socks. It's very uncomfortable

megletthesecond · 13/06/2019 08:19

It's trendy. Let him get on with it.

twattymctwatterson · 13/06/2019 08:19

LTB. No seriously.

TrumpIsATwat · 13/06/2019 08:29

How does it work? Does he bunch the socks round the toe bit, or have toe socks? Weird, but funny. I would have laughed. If DH did that he would be taking the piss and doing a funny walk. Is he joking?

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 13/06/2019 08:44

I’ve been known to do this while camping - ideal for schlepping to the toilet block once the evening turns a bit chilly. I even have special toe socks for the purpose Grin embrace the uncoolness!

CmdrCressidaDuck · 13/06/2019 08:57

Sliders with socks were the height of fashion a year ago, in that "it's so utterly hideous that it looks strangely cool when worn by a beautiful 16yo" kind of way. Flipflops with socks have never been in, and middle-aged men in socks are, I regret to say, perennially out of fashion.

Dontsweatthelittlestuff · 13/06/2019 09:08

No one should wear flip flops with or without socks.
That’s how you end up with a broken ankle, surgery, months on not being able to walk and a lot of pain.

ikidewwnot · 13/06/2019 09:25

I can confirm, flip flops and not sliders, it's a sorry sight. He actually manages to wear thick black socks nicely gathered in between big and little toes. Shudder

Oh god that sounds dreadful.

I adore flip flops, but they're obviously to be worn with bare feet. Obviously.

ikidewwnot · 13/06/2019 09:32

It gets worse... the attached photo is the actual flip flops and he REFUSES to throw them out 😂 they are stuck together with sellotape... he loves them and says they are really comfy. WWYD? Bin whilst he's at work? Place on eBay? IDK

Is he from NZ? It’s a ‘thing’ there. I quite often do this and it’s comfy as. We had a kiwi mechanic come around to look at one of cars (don’t live in NZ) and he was wearing socks and ‘flip flops’. Safety first, obviously.

AhoyDelBoy · 13/06/2019 09:34

One of our cars

katewhinesalot · 13/06/2019 09:39

Threaten to leave him if he ever wears them in public. And mean it.

Agree that you you'll accept his strange fetish behind closed doors, as the loving wife that you are.

Trillis · 13/06/2019 09:39

Since when have they been called sliders? They have always been flip-flops to me - both the 'slider' kind and the ones that have the thing between your toes. I heard the term 'sliders' for the first time about a week ago (on here).

anitagreen · 13/06/2019 09:55

I wear socks with sliders unless I've got a fresh pedi honestly since I've bought a pair of sliders I hardly wear other shoes now they are just so comfy and go with everything Grin

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 13/06/2019 09:56

Isn't it all the rage among young people now?

anitagreen · 13/06/2019 10:00

Been flip flops since my Nan had a pair of purple Adidas ones then Nike launched them as sliders and been called that ever since. When I hear flip flops I think of the toe separating ones

Rockmysocks · 13/06/2019 10:04

Geisha! Grin You lot make me laugh, love MNs!

TrumpIsATwat · 13/06/2019 11:33

I thought sliders were little burgers.

TrumpIsATwat · 13/06/2019 11:36

Bin them, take them out and put them in a public bin somewhere. If you put them in yours he might get them out when he realises.

Willowtreecottage · 13/06/2019 11:37

He looks like he has quite tiny feet?

ElizaPancakes · 13/06/2019 11:39

Socks and sliders have been a thing since at least 2015. I remember because I nearly had hysterics at some lad in the airport when flying to Spain.

No idea when they started being called sliders tho.

ElizaPancakes · 13/06/2019 11:41

He looks like he has quite tiny feet?

Umm....so what, and how do you get that impression with no banana for scale?!

echt · 13/06/2019 12:09

I've located the originator of "Kill him".

It was Hullygully of blessed memory.

Hurrah and huzzah.
