That says it supplies towels, what would you expect ,size and how many?

OP posts:
StayAChild · 12/06/2019 11:27

I would expect a bath towel and hand towel per person, plus bath mat, kitchen towel and a tea towel. Exactly what we had last week in our holiday rental. If I wanted more than that I would take my own.

Teddybear45 · 12/06/2019 11:30

2 towels is right for 2 nights. Most hotels now won’t give you a towel everyday of your stay either; just one per person and turnaround every 2-3 days.

Abbey0134 · 12/06/2019 11:34

Airbnb here, I supply one bath, one hand, one face cloth per person plus bath mat, hand towel in the bathroom, plus tea towels and hand towel for the kitchenette. If guests are staying longer than a couple of nights, I offer to replace their towels.

tenlittlecygnets · 12/06/2019 11:41

One bath towel and hand towel per person, plus two kitchen towels. In each bathroom: bath mat and hand towel (communal).

Missingstreetlife · 12/06/2019 11:44

Do you mean guest towel, that's a small (half size) hand towel?
I expect hand and bath towel for each person and communal bath mat and tea towel.

Stripyhoglets · 12/06/2019 11:46

1 big and one small each. Plus handtowel in loos and bathmat

chatwoo · 12/06/2019 11:55

@DarlingNikita a face washer is usually Australian speak for flannel/face cloth Grin

DarlingNikita · 12/06/2019 11:57

Thanks chatwoo. I wouldn't expect (or want) one of those in a holiday house, I have to say.

badger2005, I also meant to add that I agree about this thread being delightfully dull and rather soothing Grin

Gatehouse77 · 12/06/2019 11:59

Large and small towel per person.
Hand towels for the toilets.
Bath mats for the bathrooms.

Nanny0gg · 12/06/2019 12:08

Leave a review. They might take notice

Gth1234 · 12/06/2019 12:13

Hope this isn't a double post.

Just take a couple extra, assuming you are going by car.

mydogisthebest · 12/06/2019 12:20

That's really stingy. I would expect at least 1 bath towel and 1 hand towel per person.

It really annoys me though that so many places have bath towels that are so tiny. I like a big towel that I can wrap round me. Those little things are useless

throwa · 12/06/2019 12:24

I would be happy with a bath towel and hand towel per person, for the duration of the stay. The hand towels we distribute around the bathrooms rather than having one per person. Then one bath mat per bathroom, tea towels and oven gloves (we normally stay at places with dishwashers, so lots of tea towels wouldn't normally be required.

I wouldn't expect face cloths, or to have a change of towels per night stayed. (I have just booked two weeks in a SC cottage. I am expecting to get 2 towels per person, for the whole two weeks. The owner has offered to change them half way through but I'm also quite happy to chuck them in the washing machine myself rather than feeling obliged to tidy up for a mid stay formal clean / towel refresh).

Beach towels I would expect to bring our own, as these would get sandy / dirty.

VeryLittleOwl · 12/06/2019 12:38

I leave one large bath sheet, one bath towel, one hand towel and one facecloth per person in the bedrooms, plus hand towel and bathmat in the bathroom. If the whole lot's used, that's five loads through my washing machine. I have three sets, one set in the cottage, one set in the wash and one set ready to go on for the next guests - two is just a bit too tight for laundering if you get a couple of back-to-back two-night stays.

thecatsthecats · 12/06/2019 12:40

I would like 1 towel and 1 handtowel pp, but also, if by the sea, a couple of cheap and cheerful beach towels wouldn't go amiss!

I would be happy to pay a premium for those, like the deposit in a hotel.

HoppingPavlova · 12/06/2019 12:41

4 towels, 4 face washers, 2 hand towels and 1 bath mat.

Wouldn’t even go through that at home (don’t even go there with recent towel thread where others use 8 million a day) but holidays are for spoiling yourself as someone else does the washingGrin.

I have found over the past few years, hotels (and I mean luxury places) are offering incentives not to change towels/bedding. They claim for environmental reasons but obviously it’s to save them on labour and washing. After 3 days they will come in and change everything anyway. Typically it’s a voucher to use at one of the places in hotel (bar, poolside, restaurant) each day you flag you don’t want things replaced. We find they are generally enough to fund two pricey cocktails. Damn it for the third day where they don’t give you the option!

DerelictWreck · 12/06/2019 12:43

1 x handtowel for each night of stay Shock why would you need 7 hand towels in a week?!

Italiangreyhound · 12/06/2019 12:44

I would not expect anything much, I would ask them to be sure.

Circe32 · 12/06/2019 12:45

We've booked a holiday bungalow for a week in August and I assumed that towels would be included. I then contacted the owner to check whether tea towels, fairy liquid etc would be included and was told that "we offer a linen service of £10 per person which includes the bed being made up and provision of bathroom and kitchen towels". Slightly miffed at this extra charge, as it wasn't mentioned on the website. Thinking of taking our own!

Tinkobell · 12/06/2019 12:46

We supply one hand towel and one bath towel per person plus bath mats. For self catering there is a washing machine and people can wash and dry their towels during the course of the week. We don't supply beach towels people need to bring them. We do supply 4 tea towels for the kitchen.

Coronapop · 12/06/2019 12:47

I would let the owners or agency know that you think they should have provided more towels (and I agree they should). If the response is not sensible then leave a review on Trip Advisor but give them the chance to explain/apologise first.

JeSuisPrest · 12/06/2019 12:48

I change our handtowel in the bathroom every day at home. 4 people using the loo, wiping their toothpasty mouths and shaving foam off their faces means it's a bit grubby by the end of the day. Maybe it's just my family? Blush

Tinkobell · 12/06/2019 12:49

We did supply beach towels and canvass beach bags....but they went walkies so we don't do that any longer.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 12/06/2019 12:49

I always take extra bath towels, after the fiasco when we stayed in a cottage that was damp and the towels just didn’t dry after a shower.

Tinkobell · 12/06/2019 12:52

Mmmmm.....perhaps we should ditch the free bottle of wine and tray of goodies and just smother the self catering cottage in towels!
