To buy ANOTHER take away

I have bought takeaway nearly every night this week, tonight included (there were two nights we ate out instead). I now want to get takeaway pudding after already getting takeaway dinner. I'm literally obsessing over what I'm ordering from where. I'm not even hungry. I also can't really afford this. Ok, I really probably can't afford this. It has to come to an end soon.

But I'm miserable, lonely, bored, on new antidepressants that make me want to eat my own arm off, and also I've given up and stayed given up smoking and don't drink alcohol. I also am stuck in with sick kids and its raining.

WIBU to order the pudding and start tomorrow? Or should I find some self restraint from somewhere?

Have you nothing sweet in the house you could have?
Could you make some banana pancakes? They're really quick and will curb the sweet craving.

PineappleTits · 10/06/2019 18:23

Order a waffle queen.

Wildorchidz · 10/06/2019 18:23

Will you actually start tomorrow though?
Or will you find another excuse to start on Wednesday?
Or Thursday
Then sure it’s the weekend so who doesn’t get takeaway on a Friday ...
Would you maybe bake something if you are craving sweet things?

Thesuniscoming · 10/06/2019 18:26

Eat something pickled, onion or something like that. It works everytime for me. A bowl of cereal?

Starface · 10/06/2019 18:26

Don't do it.

Passthecherrycoke · 10/06/2019 18:28

Don’t worry about it. Write this week off as a bad experience, at the weekend do some
Meal prep and a big food shop and you’ll be good to go

BananaCatto · 10/06/2019 18:30

You’ve got enough to deal with with antidepressants. Get the take aways as long as you need them

Sparklesocks · 10/06/2019 18:31

Normally I’d say go for it but it looks like you might be using takeaways as a distraction from your feelings Flowers

Chloe9 · 10/06/2019 18:40

Oh I'm definitely emotionally eating! But also really cannot face taking sick kids out in the rain to buy cookies and ice cream.

I only have sensible store cupboard foods like pasta and stock cubes. I don't even have flour and hardly any sugar. We have even eaten the cooking chocolate.

I keep pledging to use the time I save not cooking on getting a mammoth food delivery booked but somehow it never comes into fruition. There's no excuse for it really though we couldn't live much closer to a supermarket.

Brush your teeth do some exercises. Even go to bed early. Stop ordering takeaway crap.
Does that help?

Thewixxx · 10/06/2019 18:42

Are you taking Mirtazapine OP?

Because I am on that and it is a struggle to not eat anything and everything.

I did some research and it's given to anorexics to stimulate appetite. That's no good to you and I who have no problem eating!

I find having a big sugar free drink, then chewing some extra strong Airwaves chewing gum until bed time helps me.

mabelmylove · 10/06/2019 18:44

If you can afford it, do it!

Bridget1983 · 10/06/2019 18:44

Have you got flour, eggs, sugar and bananas? Do a cake-y banana pudding thing - you’ll get the sweet spot and save a load of money. And throw loads of cheese on the pasta, like loaddds and that will make it feel “naughty” but again will be saving loadsa money and some calories 😘

Bridget1983 · 10/06/2019 18:46

Dammit just saw you don’t have flour! Get the takeaway and start tomorrow 👍👍

Chloe9 · 10/06/2019 18:47

Yes @Thewixxx

I normally struggle with no appetite but now it's insatiable. I don't want to have to come off it but might have to if this doesn't calm down a bit.

I don't get on well with sweeteners unfortunately. They give me headaches and bad tummy. I have tried chewing gum, reading, cleaning, online shopping (just as expensive) and Netflix.

And then when I'm finished diverting my attention I end up ordering the damned takeaway anyway, but by then it's late.

No, you've said you really can't afford it. Adding financial struggles to your problems isn't going to help. Either go to the shop with sick kids in tow, it really won't take long, or do without.

Even cook a second tea. Or a sugary tea. Hot chocolate?

Zoflorabore · 10/06/2019 18:49

Are you talking about every day since last week op as it's only Monday today?

My friend does this a lot. She can't cook and to be honest she can't be bothered to and pretty much gets a takeaway every single night for 2 adults and 2 dc.
She then moans she is skint.

To us, a takeaway is a treat and we spend a ton of money on food shopping and eat really well so it's so much a money issue, rather the fact that my dc can't afford to put any weight on and neither can I.

In your situation right now though, you're adjusting to new meds, you have sick kids. Cut yourself some slack and maybe do what we do and have a "treat night" which is an adults only takeaway on a Friday night if no plans and maybe once a month for us all, including those popular shakes that the kids love which are ridiculously priced but I don't mind once a month.

Start small and make small changes. You are doing your best Flowers

lisasimpsonssaxophone · 10/06/2019 18:49

I think if you really want the pudding there’s nothing wrong with an indulgent week (I had three takeaways in one day a few weeks ago when I was very hungover), but the fact that you felt the need to come here and ask a bunch of strangers for permission/validation suggests that you have some complicated feelings about the whole thing, and because of that I can’t help thinking that if you order and eat the pudding you’re probably just going to feel crappy about it afterwards. Does that sound at all true?

jarhead123 · 10/06/2019 18:50

It's so hard to break the craving, but shit food does just make you feel shit.

Have some pepsi max or something. Order a decent food shop to help manage these cravings so you don't binge.

Passthecake30 · 10/06/2019 18:50

I wouldn't get the takeaway pudding as that would make you feel worse wouldn't it?
You just have something sweet in the house? Cheerios? Sultanas? Syrup/honey on toast?

Chloe9 · 10/06/2019 18:50

I am realising that the real problem is not my takeaway ordering but my lack of food shopping Blush

OP posts:
GloGirl · 10/06/2019 18:50

Order a food shop to be delivered tomorrow asap

And for your reward of being organised and filling the cupboard get your dessert takeaway.

At least you will be making steps towards a productive and cheaper week.

And then come back and tell me what you've ordered!

QueenBeex · 10/06/2019 18:51

You can't start something half way through a day when you've already eaten a takeaway today anyway.

Start fresh tomorrow op.

Chloe9 · 10/06/2019 18:51

@GloGirl

Yes maybe you're onto something and I need to do the thing before I get the reward. Possibly where I've been going wrong.

crustycrab · 10/06/2019 18:52

Why don't you do an online food shop now (with a sugary drink) for tomorrow. Something with easy meals, even ready meals will be cheaper and better than takeaways. Add plenty of sweet snacks if that's what you're craving but try for healthier alternatives as well. Yoghurt, jellies, sorbet etc. Chuck a crushed up meringue in with yoghurt, raisins and chocolate chips.

You'll save a fortune and have something to look forward to tomorrow
