To phone the maternity department because of a feeling?

I'm 41 weeks and have had a feeling like something is wrong all afternoon. Nothing to back this up, it's just a feeling. Sort of like dread but I don't know why.

I can't tell if I'm just fed up of being pregnant or something is wrong. I'm still getting movements (maybe less than usual, I don't know, it's never been in a reliable pattern, but then am I just making up reasons to try and explain this feeling?!) Anyway, I tried the fizzy drink and lay down trick and felt the baby moving.

So AIBU to want to phone the maternity department because I just feel odd? Is there anything they'd even be able to do?!

I'm hoping the lack of updates since this afternoon means that the OP is in labour and will soon have a lovely newborn in her arms. x

The thing is that a 'feeling' is usually based on something we are not able to measure.
You don't 'feel right' is probably because your blood pressure is up, or your amniotic fluid is reduced, or your movements have changed.

It isn't just gut instinct, it is you being aware of a change, but not knowing what it is, because we can't tell when our blood pressure is up, but we can tell that we don't feel the same as usual.

That is why you should always follow it in situations like this.

Sorry for the lack of update. I was planning on doing a live birth thread but things went quite fast in the end!
So, waters were broken at 3, contractions started at 4, asked for gas & air at 5 and baby was out at 6:30!
Didn't quite realise what was happening until I was told to look down at the baby on my chest! gas and air is mighty good stuff

The midwives were amazing.

I have a wonderful, healthy little girl, born just 24 hours after I started this thread, I never would've imagined! Thank you to you all who encouraged and reassured me. What a lovely nest of vipers you are!
