Mine are -

Starting to drive off, then putting your seat belt on whilst trying to control the car at the same time. Why? It can't save more than a second, looks awkward, and is dangerous!

Putting bananas into a little plastic bag before putting them in the trolley - the only reason I can see for the plastic bags is to keep loose veg together, or to keep edible parts clean, neither of which applies to bananas, so what's the point?

Taking shopping trollies back to the trolley park but not actually connecting them up with the ones already there - you've done about 95% of the effort, is it really that hard to make someone else's life a bit easier by putting it away properly?

( Yes, mine do seem to be mostly supermarket related but I suppose that's where I come across other people most of the time!)

Actually, I do have one non-supermarket one - people only using one half of a set of double doors when there is a queue of people all wanting to go through - they all line up patiently to go through the one door rather than just OPENING THE OTHER ONE!!

The trend for making a massive song and dance about the sex of a baby.

I don't get getting engaged, I don't see the point and think it's a lot of faff over nothing

You can't go from asking someone to marry you, agreeing, and getting married in the space of one minute.

"We answered the door ( about 2years ago) to an unexpected caller at an unusual time and it was a friend who was fleeing domestic violence. I'm glad we answered and not ignored her."

Very unusual for someone to be without their mobile these days though.

"Nope, sorry for being a clean person! I "

You're not a clean person, you waste water and damage your skin.
Showering takes much longer than 2 minutes for me.
I sleep alone so why would I shower for my bed? Yes,I shower in the morning or at least have a wash of stinky body parts, but if you have any tendency for dry skin you should avoid overwashing.
If someone smells on public transport, it's more likely to be not using anti-perspirant than not showering. We sweat under the arms through the day so anti-perspirant is necessary.

"People who don't chat to strangers. Why can't a pleasant exchange with somebody be an end in itself? "

Some people are shy. They may have been working through that shyness all day at work and in the evening and weekend might just want to relax by only talking to people they know.

"Gwenhyfar can you not put your rubbish out in a dustbin? "

No, where I live it's bin bags.

Jumping to the aisle in an airplane the second it stops.

they are and Snapchat filters. I know lots of intelligent people who do this and I'll never understand it

Honestly? Because I lack self confidence and think my face is ugly.

LenizarLyublyu · 09/06/2019 10:01

Gwenhyfar can you not put your rubbish out in a dustbin?

No, where I live it's bin bags.

Same here. London main road. Nobody has dustbins - every block of flats has a rubbish collection point on the street, where we all dump our full bin bags. Could you imagine if the council gave us all dustbins? You wouldn't be able to move down the street?!

Adults 'gaming '. FFS.

I don't understand people who don't like that. What are acceptable adult hobbies? Why is watching a film OK but gaming isn't....

EnjoyItAll · 09/06/2019 10:06

Parking next to the only other car in the car park close enough it’s a struggle to get in and out!

People making a mad dash to Boxing Day sales. It’s chaos and completely unappealing to me

People throwing cigarette butts on the floor and acting shocked when they get fined. Heard many smokers claim it is not littering Hmm

People who video crap like scaring animals and children and post it on social media for likes. I give you cucumber cat and mum beating teddy to make her child eat

The list could go on....

AnnaSteen · 09/06/2019 10:09

People not realizing they have double standards! Best example - in the cinema with my DH. Couple beside us open up a bag full of McDonald’s!!! Proceed to munch their way through burgers, chips, milkshakes, chicken nuggets for half the movie...stinking the place out. My DH opened a bag of haribo and took a sweet and she turned around and said oh my god can you stop that rattling.......

Gender reveals - who cares if it’s a boy/girl. I want to hear that the baby has arrived safely I couldn’t care less what the gender is months before. Also telling everyone. Guy in work ‘my wife is expecting’ me oh that’s so exciting. Him ‘yeah it’s a boy called John’...ok then.

People who are obsessed with showering everyday. if you sit beside someone who stinks it’s probably because they don’t use deodorant or haven’t showered in days. It’s highly unlikely to be the person who showered last night instead of this morning. Also unless you are asking the person when they last showered why are you assuming that if someone smells it’s because they showered the night before instead of in the morning. That is you projecting your own issues about showering.

People who insist on getting up before the train stops and barging past everyone to get to the door. You must get out all of 5 seconds earlier??

People who are blithely oblivious to facts. Friend recently ‘oh I didn’t bother with folic acid until I was half way through the pregnancy and my child is fine’ eh ok. That’s called getting lucky.

People who are ridiculous about infertility. Another friend after telling her my IVF failed ‘why don’t you just get drunk and have sex’ wow I wish I’d thought of that before paying thousands for IVF...

LenizarLyublyu · 09/06/2019 10:09

give you cucumber cat

Funny.

"What are acceptable adult hobbies? Why is watching a film OK but gaming isn't...."

There's a clip in Peep Show where Mark and a friend are playing with action figures. They ask why it's not OK for adults to do that, but computer games are OK? I suppose it's a question of where you draw the line lol.

Going into a cafe as a single or couple, and sitting at a table for 4 (when a table for 2 is available), when there might actually be 4 people who could use that table to sit together.

It's first come first served in cafes.

Yes, you are allowed to take tables bigger than you need, but it's very selfish. You don't need that table and may be preventing people who could use it from using the cafe at all. Why wouldn't you take a table for two if there are just two of you?

NewAccount270219 · 09/06/2019 10:12

Parking next to the only other car in the car park close enough it’s a struggle to get in and out!

This one has come up a lot. I don't do it but I know why people do - it's much, much easier to park next to another car than to park within the lines in a space in an empty car park (this is especially true if you are - god forbid - reverse parking)

LenizarLyublyu · 09/06/2019 10:13

I don't see the harm on adults playing with action figures either, though. What's wrong with indulging your childish side as long as you're an adult in other situations? Being "adult" (adjective) is overrated.

Gwenhwyfar · 09/06/2019 10:14

"Why wouldn't you take a table for two if there are just two of you?"

I normally do, but if I don't like the location of the small table e.g. it's right next to another table where people are sitting or I prefer a table by the window, I'll take that.
If you want to choose your table before me, get there before me!

Be aware too that a single person might be on a four-table chair because that was the only thing available when they walked in and the small table was vacated later. In some cases, I have offered to move when this has happened.

Only way to catch a connecting train, to pass the slow people and not be stuck behind them when you are running to catch the next one.
Half an hour until the next train makes a big difference. If people could get out of the way by themselves, you wouldn't need to barge in, but they are too stupid to do so.

Gwenhwyfar · 09/06/2019 10:17

"What's wrong with indulging your childish side as long as you're an adult in other situations?"

Shall I ask my friend to play Barbie with me next time lol.
I find having to play these things with small children bad enough (I don't have any of my own by the way).

11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man [sic], I put away childish things.

Don't you sit/stand by the door if you want to be first out?

I once had a go at someone for doing this. I said it was like an aeroplane and people nearest the door got to get off first and he could wait his turn. He didn't get it at all.

Where I live, people often stand up before the station before mine, so they are nearest the door when it stops at our station (obviously getting in the way of all the people who actually want to get off at the station before). They do it so they are first out to be collected/to get a taxi/to get to their own car, so I understand why they do it but it doesn't make it any less annoying.

MorondelaFrontera · 09/06/2019 10:20

not on a 30 or 45 mn journey, which might take a lot longer when trains are delayed, why should I? I do on a tube journey when it's between 2 stops, but of course not on a longer one!

00100001 · 09/06/2019 10:20

poglets

My friend does this too! Used to Insist that I fill her mug to about 2mm from the top. And then has to do a carefully balanced walk to get it to the table.

When I point out that if you leave 1cm, no need for worry! She says "but that's not a proper mug of tea' Confused

I refuse now, and she has to get up to add the extra 10ml from the kettle if she wants
