Mine are -

Starting to drive off, then putting your seat belt on whilst trying to control the car at the same time. Why? It can't save more than a second, looks awkward, and is dangerous!

Putting bananas into a little plastic bag before putting them in the trolley - the only reason I can see for the plastic bags is to keep loose veg together, or to keep edible parts clean, neither of which applies to bananas, so what's the point?

Taking shopping trollies back to the trolley park but not actually connecting them up with the ones already there - you've done about 95% of the effort, is it really that hard to make someone else's life a bit easier by putting it away properly?

( Yes, mine do seem to be mostly supermarket related but I suppose that's where I come across other people most of the time!)

Actually, I do have one non-supermarket one - people only using one half of a set of double doors when there is a queue of people all wanting to go through - they all line up patiently to go through the one door rather than just OPENING THE OTHER ONE!!

The shopping trolley one - the other day someone had attached a "large" trolley to the chain of "small" trollies and because it didn't fit they left it at a right angle to the others, so nobody else could attach their trolley. I spent a good few minutes with my pound coin sorting it out for them which took about 4 manoeuvres.

Similarly I dont understand people abandoning their shopping trolley on the side in the car park. Surely they realise someone else has to sort out their laziness?

I dont understand people who share competitions from obviously fake Facebook pages like "this motorhome is work £25,000 but we are giving it away for free because it's the last one! Share this post and input your email here to win!" I mean how gullible can you be?

IceRebel · 08/06/2019 08:02

Ironing bedding, pants, socks... actually just ironing in general. Confused

BeanBag7 · 08/06/2019 08:04

@IceRebel Haha I agree. We have an iron somewhere but I dont remember the last time it was used - life's too short!

ThinThighsPlease · 08/06/2019 08:07

Grown adults acting like teenagers on social media, such as tagging themselves in A&E, cryptic posts so people ask how they are and Snapchat filters. I know lots of intelligent people who do this and I'll never understand it. It's like an epidemic or something!

ChinAirTakingOver · 08/06/2019 08:09

My DH does the annoying seatbelt thing. It drives me mad.

Eustasiavye · 08/06/2019 08:09

People who insist on parking as close as possible to the supermarket entrance. They just pull up and wait as if a space will magically appear in front of them. Why not park further away where there is a space?

ILoveEurovision · 08/06/2019 08:10

I don't get BLW. It seems to be driving all the other NCT mothers in my group mad and feeling like failures if they have to give their babies mashed up food ever.

It just seems like another stick to beat ourselves with that doesn't have much evidence behind it. We are doing a mixture with DS and he will eat a variety of textures (eg lentils which are not mushed up).

Saracen · 08/06/2019 08:13

Buying something new when the old one still works. I guess I get it with decorative items such as clothes, maybe - people can get bored of wearing the same clothes and want a change. (I don't, bur I can see how others would.)

But a car, say, or a phone. Unless it no longer meets your needs because your life has changed, or it is broken beyond economical repair, why go to the trouble and expense of getting a new one?

BottomliePotts · 08/06/2019 08:17

I read a comment on here this week from a lady who said that whenever she steps into her garden to put rubbish in the bins, she carries her door keys at face height so that she can see them constantly (for fear of being locked out). That. Is. Bonkers

Firstimpressionsofearth · 08/06/2019 08:17

I'm with you on ironing . I never iron my clothes and stuff that needs ironing never gets worn. I got away with doing the same with DS but I've now had DD and girls clothes seem to need ironing more so I may have to start.

I don't get baby led weaning either. I thought the whole point of purees bead to gradually introduction food for their delicate digestive systems and gradually introduce lumps while they learn to chew.

Mine is reversing into spaces. It's making life more difficult. Reverse out it easier and makes more sense having your boot facing out.

ChinAirTakingOver · 08/06/2019 08:18

Saracen, I think mainly people get new phones because they are offered an upgrade on their contract, and new cars because they are on finance and can trade in for a newer model each time their contract comes up for renewal.

But I take your point. I don’t get the people who HAVE to have the new iPhone/Samsung as soon as it comes out.

SummerInSun · 08/06/2019 08:21

Buying anything made out of linen. Yes it looks wonderful in the shop fresh on the hanger, but you will look a crumpled wreck within 3 minutes of putting it on if you do anything like, say, sitting down, carrying a bag over your shoulder or backpack (let alone a baby or toddler), wearing a seat belt, or being smushed up against everyone in the tube on your commute.

I totally agree re ironing - life is too short!

Also washing all the plates, etc, before putting them into the dishwasher. Just scrape them and in they go. You do not need to waste heaps of water and time carefully rinsing them all as well!

CherryPavlova · 08/06/2019 08:22

Picking up dog pooh in a little plastic bag rather than flick it into undergrowth when in very rural area. Worse still is then hanging a bag of faeces from a tree, fence or gate. Just weird. If you must bag it then find a bin.

blushmelikeyou · 08/06/2019 08:23

God I couldn't imagine going out in something not ironed lol.

My biggest gripe is parents at school parking on double yellow lines because they are to lazy to walk a few extra feet.

IceRebel · 08/06/2019 08:26

God I couldn't imagine going out in something not ironed

Why? I genuinely don't see a difference for most items of clothing, and no reasonable person would judge you if you didn't iron.

LagunaBubbles · 08/06/2019 08:26

IceRebel Haha I agree. We have an iron somewhere but I dont remember the last time it was used - life's too short!

My DH banned me from doing any ironing, any tine I needed something ironed for work I would get a towel and iron sitting down on the floor, it was too much of a faff getting the board out the cupboard! Knocked it over a few times though and burnt a big iron shape into the carpet! He does all the kids ironing not surprisingly Grin

hormonesorDHbeingadick · 08/06/2019 08:26

I agree with all the above except blw. Purée seem to faffy and all the stages confuse me.

Unless shopping at Aldi or just need a few things I shop online. I don’t understand the need to go to the shop every week, especially at peak times.

ihatethecold · 08/06/2019 08:27

My new integrated dishwasher is rubbish.
It won’t wash a pan at all. It so infuriating that I have to rinse everything before putting it into the dw.

GinoPlaysTheTango · 08/06/2019 08:27

People who love gardening and every year they have a hugely ambitious programme of planting, re-planting, digging, pruning, parasite killing etc etc.

All well and good. But what I don't understand is WHY THEY WHINGE ABOUT IT. It's so much work! They're so tired!

But... they chose to do it. Nobody is making them and nobody would care if they didn't do it.

I have known several people like this and they do the SAME THING every year and then moan about it all over again. What's with that?

EL8888 · 08/06/2019 08:29

I could write here for hours;

Letting children stand in supermarket trolleys. Unhygienic and stops you from putting more shopping in there

Standing in doorways chatting. Then being surprised when asked to move so others can get through the door

Big cars cars people struggle to drive or park. Car parking is limited where l work and was further limited by a Range Rover taking up 1.25 spaces. Why have a car you can't park or drive properly?!

Ironing everything. I would love to have sufficient time to do that

Crankybitch · 08/06/2019 08:29

I hate people who do that with dog poo bags - you’ve gone to the trouble of bagging it - bin it not decorate some tree full of bags of shit 🤬

Anerak · 08/06/2019 08:29

People who draw on their eyebrows or get them dyed. Especially famous vloggers who will say 'my eyebrows are dreadful, need to go and get them done' (they look fine), and they come back to camera with giant hideous black blocks where their eyebrows should be. Which apparently will 'fade' but always end up looking alien on their face. Why do people think this is a good idea? It's a waste of money and looks so try hard. Also went to Scotland a few years ago at Christmas and went to House of Fraser make-up counters to browse - some of the eyebrows I saw there were so extreme, I don't get it. Yet it's all the rage in some circles.

BalloonSlayer · 08/06/2019 08:30

I agree about Linen.

People wearing Linen always look as if they've spent a night in the cells for drunk and disorderly and have just got out.

DownWithThisSortOfThin · 08/06/2019 08:30

DH was saying yesterday there was a massive queue outside a shop to buy some sort of £150 Kanye trainers and people had waited since 4am Confused ditto the Next Sale, my colleague goes to every single one at 5am. Bonkers.

I do sometimes abandon the trolley nowadays because I have strapped the baby and toddler into the car and don't want to go too far away from it with them screaming their heads off inside. I don't abandon it in a car space or anything and I'll put it back if I'm close enough to the return area.

LettuceP · 08/06/2019 08:32

People that drive somewhere that is only a short walk away, especially when they have kids that need to be strapped into car seats. So much effort when you can just walk. Also people that go to great lengths to get a parking space that's close, just park further away and walk fgs. So just generally people that drive instead of walking short distances, I can't get my head around it.
